US Open Tennis Picks: First Round Betting Predictions
by Ricky Dimon - 8/26/2013
The curse of upsetting Rafael Nadal at a Grand Slam may be a real thing. Steve Darcis did it in round one at Wimbledon earlier this summer then withdrew from his next match due to a shoulder injury. He has not played a single match since. Rosol accomplished the feat last season at the All-England Club and has virtually not been heard from again. The Czech has lost an almost hard to believe eight matches in a row dating back to mid-June.

Back in the mid-2000s, Grand Slam tournaments in men's tennis were little more than foregone conclusions while a while host of women battled it out for titles th tournaments that were mostly wide-open. Roger Federer was at the peak of his power, but the Williams sisters at times grew tired of their dominance and instead focused on off-the-court endeavors.

2013 Wimbledon Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 6/21/2013
The Masters of the tennis world begins Monday at the All England Club outside of London with the most prestigious tennis tournament on the planet, the Championships at Wimbledon. The French Open and Wimbledon are somewhat foreign to a vast majority of Americans because unless you grew up rather entitled, you probably never played on clay like in Paris or the grass as at Wimbledon.

This is a matchup that transcends tennis. It pits two of the three most popular players in the sport and the two best players in the world (contrary to what the current rankings say) against each other. One is trying to complete the final piece to his career Grand Slam puzzle (Djokovic has won the other three slams at least once). The other is trying to extend his record by winning an eighth title at Roland Garros. Sports fan across the board should love this.

French Open Picks Day 10 With Odds and Predictions
by Ricky Dimon - 6/3/2013
This Roland Garros quarterfinal showdown is massively-hyped, and why not? The French fans - no matter that their soft spot for Federer is softer than soft - have plenty of reasons to believe in their country's top player. Tsonga has not dropped a set this fortnight, and he is coming off a 6-3, 6-3, 6-3 destruction of Viktor Troicki. He has defeated Federer three times in his career, and two of their last three Grand Slam encounters went to five sets (including in this year's Australian Open quarters).

French Open Picks Day 6 With Odds and Predictions

Make no mistake about it, Monfils has been the story of Roland Garros up to this point in the tournament. He upset world No. 6 Tomas Berdych 7-6(8), 6-4, 6-7(3), 6-7(4), 7-5 then got past a red-hot Ernests Gulbis 6-7(5), 6-4, 7-6(4), 6-2 in round two. If you think this came completely out of nowhere for the flamboyant Frenchman, however, think again. Yes, Monfils missed part of this season and much of last due to injury. However, he won a Challenger title earlier this month and reached the Nice final only one week ago.

French Open Picks Day 5 With Odds and Predictions

Almost everyone wants to see a Rosol vs. Rafael Nadal rematch in the third round, and it would take place if both players win on Thursday. Rosol, of course, stunned Nadal in five sets last summer at Wimbledon before the Spaniard was sidelined for seven months. On clay, however, it would not end well for Rosol. The big-hitting Czech won his first career title on clay last month in Bucharest, but he prefers to implement his power game on a faster surface.

A showdown between two mercurial players such as Gulbis and Monfils is always tough to call, but the edge here has to go to Gulbis. The 40th-ranked Latvian is a huge hitter, but he has actually enjoyed his most consistent results on clay. Gulbis is a former French Open quarterfinalist (2008), a former Rome semifinalist (2010), and he is coming off a third-round performance earlier this month in Rome, where he eventually lost to Rafael Nadal 6-4 in the deciding set. The 24-year-old boasts a 20-7 match record for the season.
