Which MLB Teams Are Charging the Most for Fans This Season?
In 2026, MLB ticket prices swing dramatically from budget-friendly to premium depending on the matchup. A new report by Doc’s Sports analyzed more than 2,400 games and their minimum listed ticket prices, revealing clear patterns by team, opponent, and time of year.
Some clubs live in a premium pricing tier no matter who they play, while a small number of marquee series can completely reshape a team’s season-long average.
Key Takeaways
- Home ticket prices vary enormously, from a high of $76.57 for Dodgers games to just $16.02 for Angels games.
- Brand-name teams like the Yankees and Dodgers drive prices up on the road, with average home prices of $64.65 and $62.51 when they visit.
- Rivalry and marquee matchups can add triple-digit premiums, such as Mets vs. Yankees at $159.00 compared with the Mets’ season average of $36.83.
Average Price for a Game
Across all 2,426 games analyzed, the average minimum ticket price is $34.82, while the median minimum ticket price is $29.00.
That gap shows that a relatively small number of very expensive games are pulling the average up above what a typical game costs. The spread from the Dodgers at $76.57 to the Angels at $16.02—nearly a five-times difference—shows how wide the pricing gulf is across MLB teams.
Which Team Is the Most Expensive at Home?
Using average minimum home ticket price across the schedule, there is a steep pricing hierarchy across the league.
Most Expensive Home Teams (Average Minimum Price)
- Dodgers: $76.57
- Red Sox: $63.31
- Athletics: $58.32
- Giants: $47.85
- Phillies: $46.14
- Pirates: $44.79
- Cubs: $42.63
- Padres: $40.04
- Diamondbacks: $38.80
- Rays: $37.21
The Dodgers sit well above everyone else, suggesting sustained premium demand across the schedule rather than just a handful of big series. The Red Sox, Giants, Phillies, and Cubs fit a more traditional big-draw profile. The Athletics ranking third is notable, as it suggests a small number of extremely expensive series are pulling their season average higher.
Cheapest Home Teams (Average Minimum Price)
- Angels: $16.02
- Marlins: $17.72
- White Sox: $18.73
- Reds: $22.30
- Cardinals: $22.52
- Royals: $22.67
- Brewers: $24.01
- Tigers: $25.31
- Rockies: $25.48
- Nationals: $26.58
The Angels, Marlins, and White Sox form a clear budget tier. Behind them is a cluster in the low $20 range that represents a distinctly lower-cost band than the league’s glamour markets.
Which Road Teams Drive Prices Up?
Beyond identifying which teams are expensive at home, the analysis also examined which visiting teams push home ticket prices higher when they come to town.
Best Overall Road Draws
Average home price when each team is the visitor:
- Yankees: $64.65
- Dodgers: $62.51
- Cubs: $47.00
- Giants: $41.17
- Red Sox: $38.84
- Mets: $37.28
- Padres: $36.10
- Cardinals: $35.73
- Blue Jays: $35.27
- Braves: $34.31
- Phillies: $33.39
- Diamondbacks: $33.12
The Yankees and Dodgers are the two dominant road draws in 2026. When they visit, the host team’s minimum ticket price rises more than it does for any other opponent. Behind them is a second tier of strong national brands including the Cubs, Giants, Red Sox, Mets, and Padres.
Data by Team
Biggest Matchup-Specific Premiums
To isolate true opponent effects from already-expensive home markets, each matchup’s average price was compared to that home team’s own season average.
Largest Premiums Over the Home Team’s Norm
- Athletics vs. Dodgers: +139.35 ($197.67 vs. $58.32)
- Mets vs. Yankees: +122.17 ($159.00 vs. $36.83)
- Giants vs. Yankees: +84.15 ($132.00 vs. $47.85)
- Athletics vs. Yankees: +80.68 ($139.00 vs. $58.32)
- Athletics vs. Giants: +73.01 ($131.33 vs. $58.32)
- Yankees vs. Dodgers: +64.54 ($99.00 vs. $34.46)
- Yankees vs. Mets: +60.21 ($94.67 vs. $34.46)
- Rays vs. Cubs: +59.79 ($97.00 vs. $37.21)
- Mets vs. Dodgers: +53.51 ($90.33 vs. $36.83)
- Nationals vs. Yankees: +51.42 ($78.00 vs. $26.58)
- Cubs vs. Yankees: +51.37 ($94.00 vs. $42.63)
- Angels vs. Dodgers: +50.64 ($66.67 vs. $16.02)
- Padres vs. Dodgers: +49.96 ($90.00 vs. $40.04)
- White Sox vs. Cubs: +47.60 ($66.33 vs. $18.73)
- Red Sox vs. Yankees: +46.83 ($110.14 vs. $63.31)
Once again, the Yankees and Dodgers appear repeatedly as the visiting team in the highest-premium matchups.
Why These Premiums Stand Out
- Regional rivalries and novelty matter, especially in series like Yankees at Mets and Dodgers at Angels.
- Giants vs. Athletics and Cubs vs. White Sox show similar rivalry-spike behavior.
- Smaller or transitional markets such as the Athletics and Nationals see extreme jumps when a marquee opponent arrives.
These results suggest that a few high-profile series can heavily influence a team’s season-long ticket pricing profile.
Methodology
Ticket price data were collected from SeatGeek on March 10, 2025, using the listed minimum ticket price for each regular-season home game shown on the platform at the time of collection. For each team in the sample, the game date, home team, visiting opponent, and lowest listed ticket price were recorded from the SeatGeek schedule pages.
The analysis focuses on minimum listed home ticket prices, not average resale prices or final transaction prices. Team-level comparisons were created by averaging each team’s minimum listed price across its home schedule.
To evaluate the effect of visiting opponents, games were also grouped by road team to determine whether certain opponents were associated with systematically higher home ticket prices. Monthly patterns were examined by grouping games by calendar month and comparing average minimum prices across the season.
Because these are point-in-time market listings, the results should be interpreted as a snapshot of the resale market rather than a definitive measure of what fans ultimately paid. SeatGeek prices can change over time based on demand, team performance, promotions, and inventory availability.
As a result, this analysis is best understood as a comparison of relative pricing patterns across teams, opponents, and months based on listings available on March 10.
