The UFC heads back to Toronto again for UFC 165. The home of the Maple Leafs and Raptors will play host to not one but two title fights on Saturday night. The one everyone wants to see if the Light Heavyweight Championship between champ Jon Jones and giant contender Alexander Gustafsson. The co-headliner features Renan Barao defending his interim Bantamweight title against Eddie Wineland in a fight that was supposed to happen at UFC 161 but was delayed due to a foot injury from Barao.

The UFC heads to unfamiliar territory for UFC 164 on Saturday night when they hit the home of the Milwaukee Bucks. Bucks fans haven’t had a lot to cheer for on the court lately, but they should be treated to a very solid card here. There’s a title fight, a long-anticipated heavyweight showdown, and some other intriguing matchups.

The UFC heads back to Brazil this weekend for UFC 163 on Saturday night. The UFC returns to MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas for the next edition of their pay-per-view spectacle. We seem to be past the era of interesting names for events, so this event, which features the headline heavyweight championship title fight between Cain Velasquez and Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva — their second meeting — is cleverly called “Velasquez vs. Bigfoot 2”.

There have been plenty of smaller UFC events recently, but we haven’t seen a full pay-per-view event since March 16 when Georges St. Pierre emphatically showed Nick Diaz who was boss. Well, they are back. They are heading to the not-so-beautiful environs of Newark, New Jersey, this week for UFC 159 on Saturday, April 27. On the main card there is a light heavyweight championship tilt as well as four fights that are more mildly-interesting than truly captivating. Let’s take a look at how it breaks down (all odds are from Sportsbook.ag):

If you don’t like welterweights, then you aren’t going to be much of a fan of UFC 158, which is being held at the Bell Centre in Montreal. The top three fights on the card all feature the 170-pound fighters. Obviously, the Montreal fans aren’t going to mind — their hero, Georges St. Pierre, will be defending his title in his second fight back from the knee injury that cost him a year and a half. Here’s how the main card breaks down (all UFC 158 odds are from Bovada):

When the UFC heads to the Honda Center in Anaheim for UFC 157 on Saturday night, they’ll need something the organization has never had to worry about before — a dressing room for female fighters. The headline fight of this card will be the first women’s fight in UFC history. That makes this by far the biggest spotlight that women’s fighting has ever been under. No pressure. Here’s how that fight and the rest of the main card breaks down with some predictions for each match (all UFC 157 odds are from Bovada):

UFC 156 Odds and Betting Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 1/30/2013
This is the third UFC event of the year but the first on pay-per-view, and, therefore, it will be the first that really counts in the eyes of many. Taking advantage of the wildly-popular Super Bowl weekend in Vegas, the event will be held at Mandalay Bay on Saturday night, Feb. 2. The highlight of the card is the return to action of Featherweight champion Jose Aldo. Due to a variety of circumstances — mostly his injuries — he has been sidelined since January of last year. Against former lightweight champ Frankie Edgar we’ll find out in a hurry if he’s still the dominant fighter he was, or if time and rust of robbed him of his edge.

UFC 155 Odds and Betting Predictions

If it seems like forever since we last had a major UFC event, that’s because it has been. Earlier this year we were having an event practically every week, but UFC 154 was all the way back on Nov. 17, so our patience has been tested for six weeks. UFC 155 takes place on Saturday, Dec. 29 from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. There have been TV events in the meantime, but that’s not the same. This isn’t the best card that the UFC has ever assembled, but it is also far from the worst. The heavyweight championship is up for grabs, and we see a pretty good lightweight fight and tons of action in the middleweight class on the main card as well. Without further ado, our UFC 155 preview (all odds are from Bovada):

The UFC is returning to Canada on Saturday night — Montreal this time around. When the organization goes north of the border there is a decent chance that Georges St. Pierre will be fighting if he is healthy. Mercifully, GSP is indeed healthy after an 18-month absence. Now the guy who is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world in my mind gets to show whether he has lost a step. The rest of the main card isn’t the strongest or the most interesting we have ever seen by any means, but given the anticipation I’m sure no one will notice or care.

We are heading back to Brazil for another UFC card — this time UFC 153, which comes to us on Saturday night from Rio de Janeiro. As we have come to expect when the UFC goes road tripping, the card is heavy on the home country content — each of the six fights on the main card features at least one Brazilian. At the top of the pile, of course, is Anderson Silva — the best pound-for-pound fighter on the planet.

If it seems like forever since we last previewed a UFC event it’s because it has been forever. UFC 151 was cancelled thanks to even more of the injuries that have plagued the organization all year. That means that Aug. 11 was the last time we had an event to write about. Just over a month might not seem like a long time to outsiders, but given the torrid pace the UFC has been holding cards the last couple of years it is certainly notable.

UFC 149, which unfortunately took place in my hometown of Calgary, was perhaps the worst card ever held by the organization. It was a mess — both to watch and to bet on. It’s a much better card this time around for UFC 150, which comes to us from the Pepsi Center in Denver on Saturday night.

UFC 150 Odds: Edgar vs. Henderson Betting Predictions
by Scott Johnson - 8/7/2012
This Saturday, UFC 150 will play host to yet another UFC lightweight title rematch. At UFC 144, former WEC Champion Benson Henderson won a five-round unanimous decision over Frankie Edgar to capture the UFC’s Lightweight Championship. As many people expected him too, Edgar immediately called for a rematch and was awarded it by the UFC. The precedent for an immediate return engagement had long been established through Edgar’s title reign.

The UFC is coming to my hometown of Calgary on Saturday night for UFC 149. Given all the problems they have had with this card it could easily be the last time they come here. The UFC has had terrible luck with injuries and underwhelming cards recently. The UFC 148 card, taking place Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, should help erase those memories. Saturday will mark one of the most anticipated rematches in the history of the UFC for UFC 148. Long considered the best middleweight fighter on the planet, Anderson Silva (-280 on Bovada) will step into the cage with the stiffest challenge of his career. Standing across the Octagon from the champ will be the man that nearly defeated him at UFC 117 back in 2010, Chael Sonnen (+220).

UFC 146 was very kind to us — my recommended bet was a parlay that paid off handsomely. Here’s hoping we can carry the momentum forward onto this card. The problem with UFC 147, which takes place on Saturday, June 23, in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, is that it just isn’t very interesting. It was supposed to be, but there have been so many changes to the lineup that there just isn’t too much left to get excited about.

If it seems like it has been a really long time since we have had a major UFC event there is a good reason for that — it has been a really long time. The event that was supposed to March 24 in Montreal was cancelled, so UFC 144 was nearly two months ago on February 26. The UFC is heading back to Brazil for the second time and for the first since UFC 134 last August, on Saturday for UFC 142. The last card was a rousing success with rabid crowds and strong matches. On Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas it’s time for the 18th and final major event of a very busy year for the UFC. There’s no title on the line for this one, but the main event sure doesn’t lack intrigue. Brock Lesnar finally returns to action for the first time since October of last year. Jon Jones was supposed to defend his light heavyweight title against Rashad Evans, but he got hurt and had to back out. Phil Davis took his place, but injured himself in mid-July and had to be replaced on short notice by Tito Ortiz. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira was supposed to face Rich Franklin, but the Brazilian was hurt and the fight was scrapped. Jose Aldo was rumored to be on the card, but he got hurt as well. I normally don’t do previews of the UFC Fight Night cards, but there are a few reasons I am choosing to here -- the card, which will be contested in Seattle at the sadly vacant former home of the Sonics, is particularly interesting, there isn’t another regular UFC event for more than a month, and last weekend’s event went so well for us that I want to keep riding the wave. With all that said, here’s how the main card breaks down for this Saturday’s event (all odds are from Sports Interaction):

For most sports bettors this weekend is all about the NCAA Tournament. The world is still turning outside of that bubble of joy, though -- and the fact that there is another UFC event this weekend is proof of that. UFC 128 comes to us from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on Saturday night, March 19.

The UFC was a huge hit the last time it went to Sydney, Australia - for UFC 110 last year - so they are heading back for UFC 127. It makes my head hurt trying to figure out when it is actually happening in Australia, but the important thing is that it will be available on pay-per-view in the U.S. and Canada starting at 10 pm ET on Saturday, February 26. The five fights on the main card are solid, including an intriguing main event, and a couple of Aussies.

Some UFC cards are much better than others. UFC 126, which takes place the night before the Super Bowl at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, is one of the better ones we have seen lately. All five fights on the main card give us a reason to be excited, and two in particular have massive potential. Here’s a look at how the main card plays out with my UFC 126 predictions and betting picks (all odds are from Sports Interaction): At the end of this article I will offer my recommended bets for a $500 bankroll.

The UFC is wasting no time putting their stamp on the New Year -- their first event of the year takes place on New Year’s Day. UFC 125 takes place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Jan. 1, 2011. The event is notable mostly because of how light the average weight of the fighters is -- there are no heavyweights on the whole card, the only title fight features lightweights, and the preliminary card features the first two featherweight fights held under the UFC banner.

UFC 124 Picks and Betting Predictions St. Pierre vs. Koscheck
by Trevor Whenham - 12/10/2010
UFC returns to Montreal - an obviously successful location for them - for the fourth time since UFC 83 in April of 2008 on Saturday, Dec.11 for UFC 124. Interestingly, UFC 83 was where heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez made his UFC debut. This is the second time that Georges St. Pierre -- perhaps the area’s most popular athlete right now - headlines one of those cards. At UFC 83 he got his revenge on Matt Serra in convincing fashion.

Mixed martial arts fans in Montreal, Canada will be revved up and ready to go this Saturday as UFC 124 hits the Bell Centre. At Bodog’s online sportsbook, we’ll be ready to go too as we expect huge action on this card. Obviously the headliner of the event is Canadian Georges-St. Pierre, who will take on American Josh Koscheck in a Welterweight Championship bout.

You certainly can’t complain about a shortage of UFC events lately. Just a week after UFC 122 came to us on free TV from Germany, we get UFC 123 on pay-per-view from the Palace of Auburn Hills in Detroit. The card last weekend was a bit short on big-name excitement, but the same can’t be said here - though there is no title fight on the card, all four guys in the final two fights of the night have held a title at least once.

UFC 122 Odds - Marquardt vs. Okami and Full Fight Card Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 11/11/2010
The UFC must not like Germans very much. If they really did like them then they would bring a much better card to Oberhausen, Germany, for the second UFC card in Deutschland. Hosting any UFC event is probably better than not having one, but the organization is putting forth the card with the least amount of star power they possibly could.

Simply put, this is the best main event the UFC has given us in several events. The undercard isn’t perfect, but the main event - Brock Lesnar defending his title against Cain Velasquez - has the potential to be one for the ages. The latest offering from the UFC - UFC 120 - comes to us from O2 Arena in London on Saturday. This is the fourth time that the UFC has been in that arena, and like some times before it this event will be shown on tape delay on Spike TV instead of on pay-per-view. The tape delay creates an extra profit opportunity for you if you have stupid friends. If you don’t then you’ll have to make your money through betting on the fights. by Trevor Whenham - 9/24/2010
The UFC heads to a somewhat unlikely spot this week - Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The fine folks of Indiana are regularly treated to great football, but this card isn’t up to quite the same world-class caliber. The main event is a bit of a head-scratcher - there have certainly been stronger, more interesting, and more relevant matches recently. The rest of the main card in more interesting, but certainly not flashy. They aren’t going to break any pay-per-view records with this one.

UFC 118 is a card marked by two extremes - a main event lightweight championship fight that couldn’t be more interesting, and a heavyweight tilt that couldn’t be more ridiculous. the event takes place on Saturday, Aug. 28 in Boston, and it marks the first time the UFC has appeared in Massachusetts. It seems like forever since we have had a UFC pay-per-view. It’s actually been just over a month - UFC 116 was July 3 - but we had so many events so close together a while back that this seems like an eternity. Luckily, the wait will have been worth it because this is a very solid card that will be on display on Saturday, Aug. 7 from Oracle Arena in Oakland. Although I don’t think it was necessarily intentional, all five main-card matches feature an American fighter up against a Brazilian. The latest UFC event - the 116th - takes place on Saturday, July 3 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. It’s a card with only one really compelling fight, but that one’s so good it more than makes up for the rest. Heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar and undefeated interim heavyweight champ Shane Carwin will meet to determine the outright Heavyweight champ. Because Fedor Emelianenko was the victim of a stunning loss last weekend this fight has extra importance - the winner will not only be the UFC champion, but also can rightly be called the best heavyweight there is.

The UFC is agan opening new territory this week when it heads to Vancouver for UFC 115. The Olympic city is their first outpost in English-speaking Canada, and the response has been strong. Lyoto Machida and Mauricio Rua meet in a light heavyweight title fight that is a rematch of their controversial meeting at UFC 104. Josh Koscheck and Paul Daley meet in a welterweight contest with the winner getting the dubious honor of getting to, or having to, fight Georges St. Pierre next time out.

UFC 112 may be the best card that we have seen in a long while, and it is certainly the most unique. It's taking place in Abu Dhabi - the first time time the UFC has headed to the Persian Gulf - and it's the first-ever outdoor event. It's also going to challenge fans who are used to the typical schedule - due to time zone issues the PPV will be shown at 1 pm EST. It will be shown again at 10 pm EST, so you can win some money off your stupid friends by betting on that one. Here's a look at how the main card shapes up, with odds from Bodog:

The UFC starts off what is going to be a very busy year on Jan. 2 with UFC 108 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The name for this event is Evans vs. Silva, but the story of the event is unquestionably the injuries. This card seems to be cursed. Just look at the fighters who were announced to be a part of it before an injury forced a change - Anderson Silva, Brock Lesnar, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Shane Carwin, Gabriel Gonzaga, Tyson Griffin, Sean Sherk - it goes on and on.

There are two kinds of UFC cards - those that can't get here soon enough, and those that just aren't that thrilling. UFC 100, with its three world-class headline matches, was definitely an example of the former. UFC 103, which takes place on Saturday, September 19 in Dallas, definitely falls into the latter category.

The UFC invades the Pacific Northwest for the first time with UFC 102, which takes places in Portland on Saturday. Unlike many of the UFC events this one doesn't have a catchy title. I'd suggest that they could call it 'UFC 102: The Lamest Main Event Ever'. It took the UFC 99 events before they crossed the pond to mainland Europe. UFC 99: The Comeback takes place in Cologne, Germany on June 13. The Germans haven't seemed to be particularly warm in their welcome. Minors have been banned from the event and government and public interest groups have been far from supportive of the group. It's time for another UFC event. UFC 95 won't be quite the spectacle that the bigger events are - it lacks a big headline event, and it's not a pay-per-view event. That's not all bad, though - it will be available on free TV, so that leaves you with more money to bet on the fights. UFC 94 Predictions

The UFC has made a habit recently of booking deep and entertaining cards for their bigger events. They've really outdone themselves with UFC 94, though. The undercard is only solid, but it's more than made up for by one of the best, and most anticipated, main events in the history of the UFC. Two champions collide for Georges St. Pierre's welterweight belt. If B.J. Penn, the lightweight champion, wins he will become the first to hold title belts in two different weight classes at the same time. Beyond the hardware, though, this fight is soaked in history.

UFC returns to the UK for their next event when UFC 89 takes place in Birmingham, England. This card holds far less star power and intrigue than their typical events. UFC Ultimate Fighter 6 Predictions
by Jef Latimer, the MMA Maniac - 11/29/2007
On Saturday the sixth season of "The Ultimate Fighter" will come to an end in the Octagon on Spike TV. During the taping of the popular show, 16 welterweights matched up tournament style to determine the finalists for the show's finale. The under-card will consist of fighters knocked off early in the show. The finalists will square off for the coveted title of Ultimate Fighter, along with a lucrative contract for several future bouts in the UFC. Unfortunately for us the fans, the show's contestants are contractually obligated to remain silent as to whom exactly those finalists will be, thereby eliminating any prospect of jumping on some upsets in the online betting realm. But, that doesn't mean there isn't any action to be had. UFC president Dana White knows this fight game and has put together a beauty of a main event.
