2026 Miami Marlins Predictions with Odds to Win World Series and Futures Picks

There is not a lot of excitement surrounding the Miami Marlins once again this season. They may be considered as the most boring franchise in the league. They are once again going to stay outside of the playoff picture and will continue to sell their veteran contributors as they try and rebuild on their future capital and burst back to relevancy in a few years. Owen Caissie is generating a lot of buzz, and Sandy Alcantara is ready to redeem himself in what could be his last few starts in a Miami uniform. Without much excitement, let’s see what is in store for Miami this season.
Doc’s Sports offers MLB expert picks for every game on our baseball predictions page.
Summary of Last Season
The Miami Marlins had a difficult season last year, missing out on the playoffs and finishing in third place in the NL East. They posted a 79-83 record, finished 17 games out of first place in the division, and four games out of the wild card. Their -89-run differential was the third worst mark in the National League. Despite the ugly season, they did go 10-4 in extra inning games which pushed their record way past their expected record of 71-91.
The Marlins lineup was not at all a game changing unit. They finished 16th in runs, 27th in homeruns, and 18th in OPS. Outfielder Kyle Stowers was their best hitter as he posted a 3.6 WAR. Stowers led the team in homeruns (25), OPS (.912), while also finishing second in RBIs (73). Otto Lopez finished with a 3.5 WAR after clubbing 15 homeruns and stealing 15 bases. Xavier Edwards led the team with 27 stolen bases, while adding 43 RBIs, and 159 hits. Agustin Ramirez was the only other Marlin’s hitter to reach 20 homeruns as he added 21.
As for the pitching, the Marlins really struggled. They ranked 25th in the MLB in ERA with a 4.60 team mark. They tallied just 37 quality starts which was the second worst mark in the league, while also ranking 19th in WHIP, and 21st in homeruns allowed. Sandy Alcantara was the Marlins’ most consistent starter. He led the team with 174.2 innings pitched across 31 starts. He managed a lowly 5.36 ERA while finishing with a 11-12 record. Edward Cabrera led the pitching staff with a 2.8 WAR after posting seven quality starts in 26 tries, leading the rotation with a 3.53 ERA, and leading the way with 150 strikeouts.
Key Additions/Losses
After the long and disappointing season ended, relievers Freddy Tarnok, Jesus Tinoco, and Christian Roa as well as infielder Jack Winkler all hit the free agent market. Outfielder Joey Wiemer was dealt to the Giants, while fellow outfielder Dane Myers was sent to Cincinnati. However, the biggest loss for the Marlins was Cabrera. He was dealt to the Chicago Cubs earlier this year. They also dealt starting pitcher Ryan Weathers, outfielder Victor Mesa Jr, and reliever Josh Simpson.
The losses added up as the Marlins continue to reshape their roster and find a route to the playoffs. With those subtractions, they did a good job adding Caissie, Edgardo De Leon, and Christian Hernandez in the Cabrera deal. They also added wild card players in outfielder Esteury Ruiz and first baseman/outfielder Christopher Morel. The Marlins also brought in reliever Pete Fairbanks, starter Chris Paddack, and reliever John King.
Prospect Outlook
The Marlins roster is indeed in the midst of a rebuild, and with that Miami has a strong minor league pool of prospects. Their farm system currently ranks 10th in the MLB as the Marlins have five players featured in MLB’s Top 100 Prospect Rankings. Their biggest prospect is left-hander Thomas White who ranks 17th in the league. White features, perhaps, the best slider among top prospect pitchers, with a mid-90s fastball. Fellow southpaw Robby Snelling is behind White, as the 39th ranked prospect. Both lefty pitchers are expected to have an impact on the Miami squad this summer. Newly acquired outfielder Caissie ranks 42nd on the list, and he is followed by shortstop Aiva Arquette (47th) and catcher Joe Mack (62nd).
X-Factors
The Future- The Marlins are years away from competing for another playoff spot. They will deal Alcantara at some point this year, and any other veteran player who can contribute meaningful production. They need to continue to fuel the prospect pool with the best talent they can get. That means leaning into the scouting and player development departments to acquire top prospects in trades, drafts, and internation signings, then get them ready for the big leagues.

2026 Miami Marlins Predictions
The Marlins are going to be one of the worst teams in the league this season. Any meaningful producer, aside from Eury Perez, is going to be shipped out ahead of the deadline to acquire future capital. Take the under on their win total and stay away from everything else. This franchise is in desperate need of new leadership; they just seem to be the “fish out of water” franchise in the MLB. Along with Colorado of course.
