College Football Predictions: Notre Dame at USC Odds and Picks
by Alan Matthews - 11/22/2012
Let’s see, the nation’s premier Catholic university and most popular and polarizing football team in the country is No. 1 in the BCS standings for the first time ever and can play for its first National Championship since Lou Holtz’s 1988 squad. Do you think ABC executives are a tad giddy about Notre Dame’s prime-time matchup with Southern Cal on Saturday night? If it’s not the highest-rated regular-season game of the year I will be stunned, and it should draw immense betting interest as well as the Irish will play in the BCS National Championship Game with a win over the preseason title favorite Trojans.
College Football Picks: Florida at Florida State Odds and Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 11/22/2012
It’s really too bad that Florida State had such a sad nonconference schedule, or the No. 10 Noles might be where the No. 4 Florida Gators are in the BCS standings. Here is FSU’s nonconference schedule so far this year: Murray State, Savannah State and a vastly disappointing South Florida team. Do you realize that FSU played outside the state of Florida just three times all year? You can’t totally blame the schedule on Florida State as it was supposed to play West Virginia in Week 2 but the Mountaineers bought their way out and FSU had to fill in with FCS Savannah State.
NFL Predictions: Packers at Giants Betting Odds and Picks
by T.O. Whenham - 11/21/2012
At the base, this game is a showdown between the team that won the NFC last year and the team that should have won it. It’s also a chance for the Packers to avenge the ugly loss that cost them their shot at the Super Bowl that virtually everyone thought that they would win. More significantly for now and beyond, it’s a contest between two teams very capable of winning the NFC this year, and it will therefore be a good measuring stick of where both teams are at and what we might expect in the last five weeks of the season.
Weekly CFB Mid-Major Betting Report: Ohio Bobcats Week 13
by Aaron Smith - 11/21/2012
The Ohio Bobcats had very lofty goals for this season. After a 7-0 start they were on track to reach those expectations. However, the Bobcats have lost three of their last four games. After last week’s loss to Ball State, Ohio knows they won’t be playing for a MAC Championship this season. The Bobcats play another tough conference foe this Friday on the road at Kent State.
Weekly Philadelphia Eagles Betting Picks: Week 12 vs. Panthers
by Dave Schwab - 11/21/2012
In a battle between two teams desperately looking for a win, the Carolina Panthers and the Philadelphia Eagles are set to clash this Monday night at Lincoln Financial Field. Kickoff for this NFC Conference matchup is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.
College Football Picks: TCU at Texas Odds and Betting Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 11/20/2012
When Texas A&M announced it was bolting the Big 12 for the SEC, the University of Texas told the Aggies that their heated rivalry would be over. And UT has stuck to its word. So Thanksgiving Night will look a bit different this year as TCU steps in for A&M in the only college game of the day. But the Frogs will not be the annual Thanksgiving opponent for UT (which wants to keep that game because of its national prominence).
College Football Power Rankings: Ferringo 15
by Robert Ferringo - 11/20/2012
The Ferringo 15 strikes again! Our teams went 8-4 against the spread last week, with three clubs either on a bye week or having played a mid-week game. That 8-4 ATS mark was good enough to turn a profit, and that is now seven of eight winning weeks for the teams listed in the Ferringo 15.
College Football Picks: Mid-Major Game Day Predictions Week 13
by Dave Schwab - 11/20/2012
We have reached the final full week of the college football regular season. And while the majority of the betting public continues to focus its energy on the top matchups on each week’s slate, I continue to focus my attention on the mid-majors. These games tend to stay well “under the radar,” which can add a tremendous amount of value to the spread if you know where and how to look.
CFL Picks: Grey Cup Odds and Betting Predictions
by T.O. Whenham - 11/20/2012
I preview a lot of games every year, but this one is more special than most. I can see the home field of the Calgary Stampeders, McMahon Stadium, from my office window. It is close enough that I can stumble home with ease no matter how many strong Canadian beers I have had during the game — something I have proven more than once. These are my hometown boys.
NFL Week 11 Player Props, Leaders Odds and Betting Picks
by Alan Matthews - 11/16/2012
If you are in a fantasy football league and own both Cincinnati Bengals receiver A.J. Green and Houston Texans running back Arian Foster, you no doubt are in first place. Green and Foster have two pretty incredible touchdown streaks going right now: Green has caught a touchdown pass in an NFL-high eight straight games while Foster has scored any sort of touchdown (rushing and receiving) in a league-high 11 straight games.
College Football Picks: Stanford at Oregon Odds and Betting Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 11/15/2012
It’s very simple for the human No. 1 and BCS No. 2 Oregon Ducks on Saturday: Beat Stanford and the Ducks will play in the Pac-12 Championship Game for the second year in a row. They would host Saturday’s USC-UCLA winner on Friday, Nov. 30.
NFL Odds: Ravens at Steelers Betting Predictions and Pro Football Picks
by T.O. Whenham - 11/15/2012
There are a lot of good rivalries in the NFL. Over the last five or six years, though, the list of rivalries that have matched the wars that the Ravens and Steelers have played is very short. These teams really don’t like each other, and they have had a stranglehold on the AFC North. As is so often the case when these teams meet, this game will have a big say in which team ultimately wins the division.
College Football Predictions: BYU at San Jose State Odds and Picks
by Alan Matthews - 11/15/2012
While San Jose State is calling this week’s game one of its biggest in years and a chance to get some national attention ahead of next week’s showdown with Louisiana Tech, I’m not sure really how interested BYU will be against the Spartans in the final college football kickoff on Saturday night.
College Football Power Rankings: Ferringo 15
by Robert Ferringo - 11/15/2012
Last week was another sensational one for the Ferringo 15, as our teams went 9-2 against the spread to post our fifth straight profitable week overall. That is now six of seven winning weeks overall by simply betting every team on our list, and the F-15 has been the best moneymaker in college football betting this season!
NFL Totals Betting: Week 11 Over and Under Predictions
by Dave Schwab - 11/14/2012
Parity in the NFL “over/under” line results continued for the fourth straight week as during this time frame 28 games have gone over, 25 games have stayed under and two games ended in a “push”. My top three picks last week took a downward turn to 1-2, leaving me at 11-8-1 over the past seven weeks and barely over .500 at 14-12-1 on the year. I have been back at it hard this week in an effort to turn things around with a few rock-solid winners for Week 11 in the NFL.
Weekly Philadelphia Eagles Betting Picks: Week 11 vs. Redskins
by Dave Schwab - 11/14/2012
The Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Redskins renew a long-standing NFC East rivalry this Sunday afternoon when the two teams clash at FedEx Field in a battle to get out of the basement in the division. The game is set to kickoff at 1 p.m. (ET) and it will be broadcast on FOX.
College Football Picks: North Carolina at Virginia Odds and Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 11/13/2012
I would like to give you some great reason why this Thursday’s ACC stinker between North Carolina and Virginia has some national relevance, but I really can’t. However, it’s the lone college football game of the night, might be a better matchup than the Thursday NFL game between the Dolphins and Bills, and you can bet on it. So here’s your preview!
Weekly CFB Mid-Major Betting Report: Ohio Bobcats Week 12
by Aaron Smith - 11/13/2012
After starting the season 7-0, the Ohio Bobcats have now lost two of their last three games. Last week’s home loss to Bowling Green hurt the team’s chances of playing for a MAC title, but they still have an outside shot. They clearly can’t lose any more games, so the Bobcats must step up this week. Ohio will be in action in the middle of the week for the third straight week. They travel to take on the 7-3 Ball State Cardinals Wednesday night.
College Football Picks: Mid-Major Game Day Predictions Week 12
by Dave Schwab - 11/13/2012
While the majority of the betting public is fixated on each week’s matchups between the top college football teams in the nation, I am more concerned with the mid-major teams that are fighting to win their conference or just to get into to a bowl with the mandatory six wins. This kind of motivation has a way of dramatically shifting the edge towards a particular side if you know where and how to look.
NFL Predictions: Texans at Bears Odds and Betting Picks
by T.O. Whenham - 11/8/2012
If you’d looked on the schedule before the season started, this game probably wouldn’t have jumped out as what it has turned out to be — the game of the year to this point in the season. At 7-1 the Texans are the class of the AFC. Chicago, with the same record, is behind only Atlanta in the NFC, and is in a surprisingly strong position in their division.
