March Madness Handicapping: Vulnerable No. 1 Seeds in the Sweet 16
by Mike Allen - 3/27/2024
The Sweet 16 is quickly approaching. And, minus 1.5 major upsets, it has been a chalky first couple of rounds. The biggest upset was, of course, the Kentucky Wildcats falling to the Oakland Golden Grizzlies. Outside of that, Texas A&M made a miraculous comeback against the Houston Cougars this past weekend in the round of 32, only to dump every ounce of adrenaline as team members belly-slid onto the court after the game-tying three as time ran out.
Free Sweet 16 Betting Picks and Best Bets
by Mike Allen - 3/26/2024
Are you having fun yet? Who doesn’t like March Madness? I meet people all the time, especially in the combat sports industry, who don’t like ball/team sports. When it’s time to tip off the NCAA Tournament, though, they are calling and messaging with a thousand questions.
Best Underdog Wagers for Sweet 16 Upset Picks
by Mike Allen - 3/26/2024
Who let the dogs out?! I'm asking because we have barely heard any barking. Is it possible we left the fence gate open, and some of these dogs slipped away from us? Oakland was one of those underdogs that most of us probably missed out on, at least until the second round of the tourney when people jumped on the bandwagon a day late and lost money, taking them to beat NC State.
2024 March Madness Bracket Predictions: Midwest Region
by Robert Ferringo - 3/21/2024
Sure, there will be some upsets and general insanity throughout the Midwest Region. It’s the NCAA Tournament, after all, and a bit of craziness is to be expected. But when you scan through this part of the bracket it really seems like the most likely to yield a fairly chalky, favorite-laden Elite Eight matchup before sending one of the top seeds to the Final Four.
2024 March Madness Bracket Predictions: West Region
by Robert Ferringo - 3/20/2024
Does defense really win championships? We’re going to find out in the West Region of the 2024 NCAA Tournament. The West boasts four of the highest scoring offenses in college basketball. Alabama (90.8), Arizona (89.5), North Carolina (81.6) and Baylor (81.6) all among the Top 25 in the country in points per game.
March Madness Bracket Predictions: Dark Horse Final Four Picks
by Ryan Cobbett - 3/19/2024
Madness is finally upon us. And with that, it is time to finish up your brackets. Year after year, there is a team or two that shatters everyone’s hopes of a perfect bracket. Last year we saw one of the highest aggregate Final Four sums in history, with the defending champion UConn Huskies being the lowest seeded team at four. The average aggregate hovers over nine, However, after last season’s mark, it could be assumed that the transfer portal has been a positive for the higher seeds. Let’s go to each bracket, and I will identify a team that could surprise everyone and make the Final Four and then I will give you two teams who could be this year’s Saint Peter’s.
NCAA Tournament: Making Bracket Picks Based on College Basketball Futures Odds
by Ryan Cobbett - 3/19/2024
Colors, Mascots, notable coaches, notable players, alma maters, and statistics are all potential factors when putting together your bracket each year. Some want the help of experts, some pay attention to the numbers, while others depend on memory recall. Is there a perfect formula? No. However, you may find some luck by going game to game and finding favorable matchups or looking at Final Four futures odds. Let’s go region by region and look at some value picks.
2024 NIT Tournament Bracket Predictions
by Joey House - 3/19/2024
While March Madness is usually reserved for the 68-team NCAA Tournament, there was a time when the National Invitation Tournament (NIT for short) was the premiere post-season destination for college basketball programs. While it can be disheartening for some programs who believed they should be dancing with the big boys (crazy old Rick Pitino comes to mind), a successful run in the NIT can help catapult a team back into the Madness.
2024 Women’s College Basketball NCAA Tournament Bracket Predictions
by Matt Zitt - 3/19/2024
Let the dancing begin! The 2024 women’s NCAA Tournament bracket is here, and games are right around the corner. South Carolina is the heavy favorite after an undefeated regular season and conference tournament in the SEC. The Elite Eight could feature last year’s National Championship Game with Iowa and LSU, if both teams advance that far in what is the hardest region.
Free Picks for Tuesday NIT Matchups
by Joey House - 3/19/2024
There are currently 362 NCAA Division I teams in the country, so for every favorite or Cinderella who attends the "Big Dance", there are over 5 potential fairy tales whose slippers didn't fit quite right or their nasty aunt didn't let them out of the conference. However, for 32 other teams, there is a consolation prize in the form of the NIT.
Expert College Basketball Handicapping Roundup 3/15/2024
by Ryan Cobbett - 3/15/2024
The final Friday Roundup for the College Basketball season is upon us. Champ Week has already been extremely chaotic, and we still have a packed weekend ahead of us to determine the bracket. Creighton, Duke, and BYU were all upended in their conference tournaments, while teams like South Carolina, Arizona, and North Carolina haven’t even blinked. No more introduction needed, let’s get into the madness.
2024 Pac-12 Tournament Predictions with Betting Odds and Picks
by Robert Ferringo - 3/13/2024
This is The End. The Pac-12 has been crushed under the cold, cruel weight of The Market and is preparing to be ripped to shreds by the claws of Capitalism. A year from now, this league will no longer exist, with shards being absorbed by the Big 12 and Big Ten. Meaning that this will be the final Pac-12 Tournament ever.
2024 Mountain West Tournament Predictions with Betting Odds and Picks
by Robert Ferringo - 3/13/2024
That’s right, boys and girls, it is that time of the year again. Time to play one of my favorite games: “How Badly Is The Mountain West Gonna Get Screwed?”. It is an annual rite of passage for the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee to absolutely screw the Mountain West and short them the at-large bids that they deserve. It happens every year. The only question is just how egregiously the selection committee will screw the Mountain West in favor of sending mediocre teams from marquee conferences to The Big Dance.
NCAA Tournament Field Predictions: Yes or No Betting Odds
by Mike Allen - 3/12/2024
Conference tournaments are already kicking off this week, and you know what that means. March Madness is upon us. Selection Sunday is just days away. We will likely use the word "Bubble" more in the next few weeks than we do for the remainder of the year. The NCAA Men's College Basketball Tournament field has mostly been set. We will know in a few days about some of the smaller conferences' winners who will get automatic Tournament berths.
2024 Atlantic-10 Tournament Predictions with Betting Odds and Picks
by Ryan Cobbett - 3/11/2024
The Atlantic-10 Conference Tournament will begin on March 12 in Barclay’s Center. The A-10 could potentially get two teams selected on Selection Sunday, if the conference winner is not the Dayton Flyers. In the latest Bracketology update, both the Flyers and the Richmond Spiders are projected to make the tournament, with the Spiders holding the automatic qualifier. One team not getting talked about enough is the Ramblers from Loyola Chicago, who finished the season going 17-3 in their final 20 games and split the regular season title with the Spiders.
2024 Conference USA Tournament Predictions with Betting Odds and Picks
by Ryan Cobbett - 3/11/2024
Conference-USA is another weak basketball conference that gets their one shot at the tournament through their conference champion. The conference went a combined 0-16 against Quad1 opposition this season and 5-19 against Quad2 opponents. Louisiana Tech is the highest ranked C-USA team in the NET rankings at 92, and they didn’t even claim the regular season title. Sam Houston won the regular season title, going 13-3 in the conference and 20-11 overall.
2024 MAC Tournament Predictions with Betting Odds and Picks
by Ryan Cobbett - 3/11/2024
Champion Week is upon us, with the regular season wrapping up over the weekend. Some conferences have already begun their conference tournaments, but the majority and major tournaments will tip off mid-week. The Mid-American Conference begins their tournament on Thursday and will feature the conference’s top eight squads. Though everybody loves some MACtion in the fall, basketball is not the conference’s strong suit. The conference went a combined 0-24 against Quad1 opponents this season, and their 6-28 record against Quad2 opponents wasn’t much better. With that being said, the only member of this conference to make the tournament is going to be the conference winner. Let’s take a look at who gets a shot at the conference tournament title.
Final Four Bracket Predictions and National Championship Odds
by Joey House - 3/28/2023
And then there were four. Now that the smoke has cleared, and the dust has settled, we have the 2023 Final Four set. Once again, Warren Buffet escaped with his billion dollars safe in his challenge for someone to pick a perfect bracket. The sum of the Final Four seeds is 5+9+5+4, which equals 23. This is the second-highest total ever, after the 2011 Final Four of the Underdogs that featured these seeds: 3,4,8,11.
Elite Eight Bracket Predictions with National Championship Odds
by Joey House - 3/24/2023
One of the greatest things about March Madness is that just when you thought you saw it all, something new happens. The 2023 NCAA Tournament will mark the first time ever that a No. 1 seed will not be playing in the Elite Eight. After a wild second day of the Sweet 16, the entire field is set to see who will earn the right to head to the 2023 Final Four in Houston.
