Jake Paul vs Julio Cesar Chavez Best Bets and Predictions

Yes, boxing fans. It's time for another Jake Paul fight, this time against the son of a living legend. It wasn't that long ago, in fact, 1994, when Julio Cesar Chavez stepped into the boxing ring with a record of 89-0-1, only to see his undefeated streak come to an end.
Little did he know that years later, Floyd Mayweather Jr. fans would claim that their favorite fighter was the GOAT due to his undefeated record. Floyd was great, but to nearly win 100 fights before your first loss is likely never to be achieved again. Chavez's son by the same name obviously had an even bigger pair of shoes to fill than Mayweather ever thought of. Even though it hasn't been all sunshine and rainbows for the Sinaloa-born Chavez Jr., he's competed at the professional level for more than two decades. Genetics aside, that's not bad for a rich kid.
From rich kid to self-proclaimed "Problem Child," Westlake, Ohio's Paul may not have 20 years of fighting, but he's no stranger to athletic competition, even before his brief albeit active boxing career commenced. Along with his brother Logan, Paul wrestled in high school, as well as excelling in other sports.
About seven years ago, Paul had his first boxing match on the undercard of his brother's fight against KSI. He loved it, and less than two years later, he had his first professional bout. Since then, he's fought YouTubers, former NBA stars, the GOAT of MMA, Anderson Silva, and, most recently, of course, 57-year-old Mike Tyson.
It's obvious what Paul is doing. He's taking MMA fighters far past their prime, or if he does fight a legitimate boxer, he makes sure they're north of 50. This time around, though, he's raised the bar to compete against 39-year-old Chavez Jr.

When: Saturday, June 28th at 8:00 PM Eastern
This is when the prelims start. I would check again closer to fight time, but the two men should make their walk before 11:00. Don't miss former UFC Women's Champion Holly Holm on the undercard. She got her start in boxing!
Where: Anaheim, California
Jake said at the open workouts that he chose Anaheim so that he would beat Chavez Jr in front of his people. Those words will not get to the vet, though. Paul is just trying to sell the fight.
How to Watch: DAZN
The commentary is always atrocious and be prepared for them to kiss up to Paul at every opportunity. The mute button is your friend.
Jake Paul vs Julio Cesar Chavez Betting Odds
Moneyline
Jake Paul: -750
Julio Cesar Chavez: +450
This moneyline is ridiculous but warranted, especially considering the fight is scheduled for 10 rounds. More on that in a moment.
Fight to Go the Distance
Yes: -150
No: +110
Chavez Jr. has failed drug tests for marijuana and diuretics, as well as covered up multiple allegations of cocaine and other drug use. He's nearly 40 years of age, and cardio has never been his armor.
The man has a nasty left hook. It's not his father's, but it's clean, and remember, power is the last thing to go. He can still hit just as hard at 39 as he did at 29. The speed, endurance, reaction time, and durability, however, will all fall short of the betting favorite.
Method of Victory
Jake Paul by Decision: -110
Jake Paul by KO/TKO: +150
The majority of betting tickets will be on one of these two wagers you see above. While Chavez Jr. is Mexican, and they rarely get knocked out or quit, we have seen the rich kid inside of him come out late in fights.
He has quit on the stool more than once! Paul is in his prime, and if he puts a pace on Chavez, we could see a late finish.
Julio Cesar Chavez by Decision: +1100
Julio Cesar Chavez by KO/TKO: +600
The left hook is a great counter punch to an aggressive boxer who loves to knock people out with his right hand. If this fight were two or three years ago, I would give Chavez a better chance to catch him.
Paul's right hand is clean, though. He keeps his elbow down until his glove reaches the target. I have to give him credit there.
Draw: +1600
In boxing lately, who knows? It feels like we've seen more controversial draws in big fights than we've had close decisions in favor of one side.
Jake Paul vs Julio Cesar Chavez Best Bets
Jake Paul to Score a Knockdown: +100
It hasn't happened much, and it may not happen because he catches him clean, but I think Paul puts the veteran on his butt at least once. The man may be hateable. His right hand, though, is a hammer.
While Chavez has fought just once since 2021, Paul has stepped into the pro boxing ring ten times!
Chavez Jr. has the skills, experience, and composure to go the distance even in a dominant loss. I think he gasses, though, and as the great Vince Lombardi once said, "Fatigue makes cowards of us all."
Jake Paul KO/TKO Rounds 7 or 8: +650
Here's your flyer for the night. If Paul gets him, I think it'll be 7 or 8. That's when he'll make his move. If he falls short of the TKO, his opponent will likely be more tired, and he can cruise through the final rounds for the decision win.
Jake Paul by TKO: +150
Paul is pumped full of who knows what hormones. He's in his prime and has shown improvement in his skills, as well as ring generalship, every time we've seen him compete. He's had a good six months off for the first time in a while following the Tyson fight. If he's shown signs of partying too much, then I may hesitate to back him to get the finish.
I love what he's got going on down there in Puerto Rico, though. That level of focus is what it takes to join a sport like boxing at a late stage but still excel.
Both Fighters to Land 75+ Punches: +210
Honestly, I loved Paul's last fight from a betting perspective much more. We had him at (-170) on the moneyline against Tyson! Our bets today are fun and primarily based on the narrative that the aging Mexican star tires late in the fight while the young, hungry bull goes in for the gore.
This last one, however, is a fun one with a surprisingly high payout. Yes, they're bigger guys but both aggressive and paid well.
