2026 Baltimore Orioles Predictions with Odds to Win World Series and Futures Picks

After a dominant stretch as a playoff caliber squad, the Baltimore Orioles dropped all the way to the basement in the AL East last season. A worst-to-first season would be led by the addition of Pete Alonso and a rotation that would be stabilized by the ever-consistent Kyle Bradish. Depth won’t be an issue for Baltimore. However, the key to their success is the emergence of some new names on their roster, stability from the rotation, and an emerging or acquired star to further elevate the lineup.

Summary of Last Season
Last year was ugly for Baltimore fans. Their beloved Orioles posted a 75-87 record, which was good for last in the division. Their -111-run differential was the second worst mark in the American League. With the numbers looking as bad as they did, it was expected to be much worse as they finished six games better than their expected record of 69-93.
One of the problems was that the lineup failed to generate run support for their rotation. They ranked 24th in runs, 21st in OPS, 25th in hits, and 17th in doubles. Gunnar Henderson once again led the lineup. He finished with a team best 5.4 WAR after hitting 17 homeruns, recording 30 stolen bases, and leading the team with 68 RBIs. Henderson was joined by Jackson Holliday and Jordan Westburg for the team lead in homeruns with 17 each. Westburg finished with a 1.5 WAR and 41 RBIs in just 85 games. Holliday also added 17 stolen bases, which was the second most on the team, and also recorded 55 RBIs. Colton Cowser struggled at the plate, hitting just .196 and tallying just 16 homeruns.
As for the pitching staff, they did not perform any better. They ranked 26th in ERA with a 4.60 team ERA. They also had a 1.37 WHIP, and they gave up the fourth most homeruns in the league. Trevor Rogers led the pitching staff with a 5.5 WAR. He recorded 18 starts, 13 of which were quality starts. He also finished with a 1.81 ERA and a 0.90 WHIP. Dean Kremer, Tomoyuki Sugano, Cade Povich, Charlie Morton, Brandon Young, and Zach Eflin all appeared in at least 12 starts. Unfortunately, in their starts, this group of starters combined for a lowly 5.27 ERA.
Key Additions/Losses
After the end of the season, Sugano, Gary Sanchez, and Jorge Mateo all hit the free agent market after not being brought back by the Orioles. The team also let go of relievers Shawn Dubin and Jose Castillo as well as outfielders Daniel Johnson and Dylan Carlson. The team later made trades as they shipped off Alex Jackson and Grayson Rodriguez.
Their offseason did improve this team on paper. They added reliever Andrew Kittredge who will surely add some surety in later innings. However, the biggest bullpen addition was the signing of their assumed new closer in Ryan Helsley. The team also added Jackson Kowar to add more depth to the bullpen. Baltimore added Chris Bassitt and Shane Baz to revamp their rotation behind Bradish. As for the bats, the biggest move for the Orioles was the addition of Pete Alonso who will add some much-needed production for the lineup behind Henderson. They also brough in outfielder Leody Taveras, outfielder Taylor Ward, outfielder/first baseman Jhonkensy Noel, utility man Blaze Alexander, and infielder Thairo Estrada.
Prospect Outlook
After shipping out some top prospects in the trade for Baz, the farm system is left a little weaker. However, they still rank in the top half of the league, coming in at 13th. They have three players listed in MLB’s Top 100 Prospect Rankings. Their farm system is headlined by catcher Samuel Basallo, who is ranked eighth. He is a fantasy breakout candidate and could be a game-changing presence for Baltimore. Behind Basallo is outfielder Dylan Beavers who ranks 69th in the rankings thanks to his speed and hitting potential. Outfielder Nate George rounds out the list as the 93rd ranked prospect in the MLB.
X-Factors
The Front Office- It is no secret that it will be a tough path to top Boston, Toronto, and New York, but the front office clearly believes in the core in place as they made some major additions this offseason. However, their work is not done. They have a lot of work to do if they wish to be a playoff caliber team. They have some expendable prospects, and they could be faced with a particularly interesting situation if Basallo can prove to be a consistent contributor. If he can, Adley Rutschman could potentially be dangled to add another elite arm or bat to the roster. The front office has work to do, but they are close.

2026 Baltimore Orioles Predictions:
Baltimore will certainly be an interesting team to follow along with this season as they attempt a quick turnaround and return to playoff action. There is no doubt that last season was horrendous. However, they still have a lot of young talent to like, especially Heston Kjerstad, Cowser, Coby Mayo, and a full season of Jordan Westburg would help. This lineup, with Alonso and Ward, will balance out the lefty heavy approach, and add some much-needed protection which could further the production potential from guys like Holliday and Mountcastle. There is a lot of potential here and another starter could boost this team’s chances of a run even further. Take the over on the win total and expect this team to make some noise in the playoffs.
