NCAA Football Handicapping: Miami Hurricanes Championship Contenders
by Trevor Whenham - 11/17/2017
I thought the Miami Hurricanes were on the right track and that they were going to take a step forward this year. But unbeaten and in control of their playoff destiny? Didn't see that coming. And anyone who says that they did is, at the very least, a wild optimist - and more likely a liar. Yet here they are, a couple of weeks removed from one of the most impressive wins of the season over Notre Dame.

When UCLA takes the field for their game against No. 11 USC tomorrow at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, it will mark the first meeting between stud quarterbacks Josh Rosen and Sam Darnold, both of whom are projected to be one of the top picks in next year's NFL Draft should they enter. Both QBs are in their third collegiate season, and this rivalry has lost some luster due to injuries and quarterback logjams. This season, Darnold seems to have had the better go of it. His Trojans are nationally-ranked and are on the cusp of a spot in the Pac-12 title game while Rosen and his Bruins are mired in mediocrity at 5-5. For every step forward, they've taken two steps back; Rosen's stock is suffering as a result.
College Football Playoff Scenarios with Expert Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 11/17/2017
There are two weeks of regular-season action and conference championship games standing between us and the field for this year's College Football Playoff. It doesn't seem like much, but everything can change in a flash - just ask Georgia. As we get ready for a pretty dull slate of games from a playoff perspective this week, and a pretty thrilling one next week, it's a good time to assess where we are at, what could happen, what the odds say, and so on (odds to make the CFP are from BetOnline):
NCAA Football Mid-Major Free Betting Picks: Marshall Thundering Herd Week 12
by Aaron Smith - 11/16/2017
The Week 12 edition of the mid-major betting report is ready to go. This is the seventh straight season I'm doing the mid-major report for Doc's Sports. How have the selections on the mid-major betting report done? Overall, the record is 40 wins and 29 losses with a gain of $1,500.
Michigan Wolverines at Wisconsin Badgers Expert Picks with Odds and Betting Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 11/16/2017
This game is just massive for both teams. Wisconsin sits fifth in the College Football Playoff, and with two ACC teams ahead of them they have a very good chance of moving up into the crucial top four spots if they win out. A 13-0 Big Ten champion would not be left in the cold this year. Michigan is not going to be a playoff team, and they don't control their own destiny, but their chances of a berth in the conference championship game - and a rematch with Wisconsin - requires wins against the Badgers and Buckeyes in their final two and a lot of help.
Virginia Cavaliers at Miami Hurricanes Expert Picks with Odds and Betting Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 11/16/2017
It was pretty easy in Mark Richt's last couple of years in Georgia to question whether he had lost his edge. His swagger was gone, and the only thing he was consistently great at was underachieving expectations. Well, all he needed was a change of scenery, I guess. He's only in his second year at his alma mater, and he has this team heading straight to a playoff berth.
UCF Knights at Temple Owls Expert Betting Picks with Odds and Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 11/16/2017
There are just four college football teams that remain undefeated now that Georgia has lost. Alabama should be a surprise to no one. Miami and Wisconsin both face challenges from feisty-but-beatable opponents this week. And then there is Central Florida. Scott Frost is proving just how good he is as a coach this year - especially when you consider that the team has had two games cancelled due to hurricane issues and had to throw in a quick makeup game.
Kentucky Wildcats at Georgia Bulldogs Expert Picks with Odds and Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 11/15/2017
I don't know if any team in the country has a tougher task than the Georgia Bulldogs this week. And it has very little do to with playing Kentucky. Georgia has to pick itself up off the mat this week after getting floored 40-17 at Auburn last week. The Bulldogs were the No. 1 team in the country heading into that game. But their national title hopes took a major shot, and now Georgia has to regroup and try to refocus against an opponent that is a step down in class.
NCAA Football Betting Advice: Fading the Top 25 Weekly Free Picks
by Aaron Smith - 11/15/2017
It was another wild week near the top of the rankings in college football. Four of the top nine teams in the country lost outright last weekend. Notre Dame, Washington, and TCU are almost certainly out of the national title picture now. Georgia suffered a big loss at Auburn, but the Bulldogs will get another chance to play their way into the playoffs. The Top 25 as a whole went 11-11-1 against the spread last week. The top three all lost ATS, but overall the picture was mixed.
Big Ten: Weekly Conference Analysis with Odds and Predictions
by Chris Vasile - 11/14/2017
After the Big Ten landscape was turned on it's head two weeks ago, things kind of returned to normal with this past weekend's results. Every team that was supposed to win pulled through, and there were no real upsets to speak of -- unless of course you take the AP rankings seriously. With No. 13 Ohio State's blowout win over No. 12 Michigan State, the Buckeyes recaptured the inside track for the Big Ten Title game.
NCAA Football Predictions: Week 12 Opening Line Report and Picks
by Alan Matthews - 11/13/2017
As good of a Saturday as he had in college football in Week 11 … well, this coming one rather blows. That's because it's Cupcake Saturday for a handful of teams before they play a season-ending rivalry game in Week 13.
NCAA Football Betting Odds: Week 11 Line Movements & Last-Minute News
by Alan Matthews - 11/10/2017
I personally believe that the ideal College Football Playoff format is for six teams: the champion of each Power 5 conference and then the highest-ranked non-champion. The top two teams get a bye into the national semifinals. Some want eight teams, but that seems like too many.
TCU Horned Frogs at Oklahoma Sooners Expert Picks with Odds and Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 11/10/2017
This is a great Big 12 showdown. It is not, though, quite as interesting as it could be. Up until this year the Big 12 didn't have a title game, so winning the conference was all that mattered. Both of these teams are in good shape to win out after this game, so this is essentially a showdown for the Big 12 regular season.
Alabama Crimson Tide at Mississippi State Bulldogs Expert Picks with Odds and Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 11/10/2017
On paper this game isn't very interesting. Alabama is favored by most of two touchdowns, and they have a clear edge in the contest. What makes it worth talking about, though, is that it is the closest thing to a real contest that Alabama has faced. This is only the third line for Alabama that has been below 20 points, and the lowest by two field goals that they have faced since that farce of an opening game against Florida State.
Washington Huskies at Stanford Cardinal Expert Picks with Odds and Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 11/10/2017
The stakes for this conference - and division - showdown are just plain huge. Washington currently sits at 5-1 in the conference, with Stanford tied with Washington State at 5-2. If Washington wins then they would just be one Apple Cup win away from heading to the Pac-12 Championship Game. They would totally control their own destiny.

If you've ever taken a legitimate writing course or understand what it takes to put together a great content piece, you would know that capturing the reader's attention with a great intro is paramount to being successful. Each week I try to captivate the reader by talking about the most prevalent or meaningful storylines heading into the weekend's football action. This week, I'm going to do something a little different. Sure, I could touch base on the CFP or the dumpster fire that is the Florida Gators or laptops on the sideline or even how "The U" is back for real.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish at Miami Hurricanes Expert Picks with Odds and Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 11/9/2017
It's Catholics vs. Convicts, Part Two. Miami and Notre Dame will resume a longstanding feud this week in a game with enormous national ramifications. The No. 7 Hurricanes will host No. 3 Notre Dame at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11 in a game that is perhaps a de facto playoff for the right to get into the College Football Playoff.
NCAA Football Mid-Major Free Betting Picks: Marshall Thundering Herd Week 11
by Aaron Smith - 11/9/2017
It's time for the Week 11 edition of the mid-major betting report. This is the seventh straight season I'm doing the mid-major report for Doc's Sports. How have the selections on the mid-major betting report done? Overall, the record is 40 wins and 29 losses with a gain of $1,500.

Week 10's stunner was Iowa's shellacking of Ohio State. The Buckeyes were coming off that emotional win over Penn State, and it looked like they thought they'd just automatically pick up the win in Iowa. That didn't even come close to happening. Oklahoma's win at Oklahoma State was another big one. That game was 38-38 at halftime. I like offense, but that's a little ridiculous.
Big Ten: Weekly Conference Analysis with Odds and Predictions
by Chris Vasile - 11/8/2017
Oh how the tides have turned. What started out as a two-team race in the Big Ten's East division two weeks ago has now become essentially a four-team race to determine who will get the right to play in the Big Ten Championship game. Both Ohio State and Penn State were sitting pretty heading into their game against one another two weeks ago. Since then, the Nittany Lions have lost twice, while the Buckeyes are no longer undefeated in conference play.
