by Aaron Smith - 10/11/2017
It's time for the seventh edition of the mid-major betting report. This is the seventh straight season I'm doing the mid-major report for Doc's Sports. How have the selections on the mid-major betting report done? Overall, the record is 40 wins and 29 losses with a gain of $1,500.

Oklahoma lost to Iowa State in a stunner, so you might think it was a good week to go against the teams near the top of the rankings. However, overall the top teams did well against the spread in week six. The Top 25 went 13-8 ATS. That's the third straight week the Top 25 has covered at a high rate. It's making it tougher to fade the top teams right now. Let's see if this turns in the coming weeks.

Is Michigan's Jim Harbaugh a good coach? No question. Would the vast majority of schools want him over their current coach? Certainly. But is Harbaugh also a tad overrated? I think that's fair to say. The Wolverines' national title hopes might be gone after they were upset 14-10 at home by Michigan State on Saturday, dropping Harbaugh to 1-4 against U-M's two main rivals in the Spartans and Ohio State.

It seems every NCAA story I write revolves around coaches on the hot seat in the SEC, but you have to go where the news is. In my Week 6 Opening Line Report on Monday, I mentioned that BetOnline had a prop up on the next coach at Tennessee - presuming Butch Jones is fired after this disappointing season.

As the calendar flips to October, fans and bettors of college football don't have to wait very long to get their fix in after the weekend card. Last night, Arkansas State and Georgia Southern played in the first Wednesday game of the year, and it had everything a fan could want - tons of yards, a boatload of points and a cover by the favorite. If you thought that game was high-scoring, wait till you see tonight's lone college game between the No. 17 Louisville Cardinals and the No. 24 North Carolina State Wolfpack. The Cardinals are currently three-point road favorite with the total set at 65.5. I believe this game will be much closer than last year's meeting, which ended in a 54-13 blowout for Louisville.
Washington State Cougars at Oregon Ducks Expert Picks with Odds and Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 10/4/2017
While Oregon is licking its wounds, Washington State is flying high. I know it is generally the other way around with ducks and cougars - especially THESE Ducks and Cougars - but that's how backwards things have gotten between these programs over the past several years. No. 11 Washington State heads to Autzen Stadium to take on Oregon at 8 p.m. on Saturday in a key Pac-12 North clash. The Cougars are a slim two-point favorite and the total is set at 61.5.
West Virginia Mountaineers at TCU Horned Frogs Expert Picks and Betting Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 10/4/2017
This is one of just two games on the fairly lackluster schedule of games this week that features two ranked teams. But the teams are in different places. TCU has gotten off to a stellar start, and voters are impressed - they sit eighth in the country. West Virginia, meanwhile, has a loss and is clinging to one of the last spots in the Top 25 - they sit 23rd and have no margin for error remaining. Both teams won their first conference game, so they can get a statement win here in the pursuit of a berth in the first Big 12 title game. Which team will rise up and seize that opportunity?
Miami Hurricanes at Florida State Seminoles Expert Picks with Betting Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 10/4/2017
If you were asking Mark Richt before the season, and you could get him to be honest, he would have told you that winning at Florida State this year would be a massive boost for him and the program he is building at his alma mater. He also would have told you that it was very unlikely to happen. Florida State started the season ranked third in both polls and was widely seen as the class of the ACC. But then they lost. And then lost again. And lost a QB.
Alabama Crimson Tide at Texas A&M Aggies Expert Picks and Betting Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 10/4/2017
I chose this game for a few reasons this week from among all I could have written about. For one thing, the slate of games this weekend isn't hugely compelling, so this likely lopsided affair was no less compelling than a lot of games played by major contenders. Second, there are a few reasonably interesting storylines here as we will see in the next section. And, most significantly, I chose it because this should be a great matchup.

Week 5 of the College Football season treated bettors with a ton of points and a few notable upsets that has the AP-Top 25 looking fairly different from how it was pre-kickoff. The week started off with a major upset as No. 16 Washington State downed No. 5 USC by a score of 30-27. That result not only dropped the Trojans to No. 14 but also vaulted the Cougars up to No.11.

Not a ton of marquee matchups last weekend in college football, and this weekend isn't full of them either. There are going to be some great weeks ahead when it comes to drama, though. We're already to Week 6 of the season, and every game gets more important as we get deeper into the year.
NCAA Football Predictions: Week 6 Opening Line Report and Picks
by Alan Matthews - 10/2/2017
Butch Jones will not be the head coach of Tennessee next season. I'm as sure of that as I am the sun will rise tomorrow. The Vols were embarrassed 41-0 at home against Georgia on Saturday, effectively ending their SEC East hopes and sealing Jones' fate. The Volunteers were shut out for the first time since 1994 and suffered their most lopsided home loss since 1905. None of the previous six games in that series had been decided by more than eight points, and UT had won the past two.

Arguably my dream job, other than spritzing supermodels with oil on some Caribbean beach (could happen!), would be to work for one of the sportsbooks listed here at Doc's and come up with daily/weekly special prop bets. It would be similar, in my mind, to writing for a sitcom or something were you have to come up with new ideas all the time.
NCAA Football Mid-Major Free Betting Picks: Marshall Thundering Herd Week 5
by Aaron Smith - 9/29/2017
The Week 5 edition of the college football mid-major betting report is here. Marshall had the week off in last week, but they are back in action playing against the Cincinnati Bearcats this weekend. This is the seventh straight season I'm doing the mid-major report for Doc's Sports. How have the selections on the mid-major betting report done? Overall, the record is 40 wins and 29 losses with a gain of $1,500.

Last week I wrote about the high possibility that the game between the Rams and Niners had of finishing at a 0-0 tie. Thankfully I was wrong and fans/bettors had plenty of positive things to talk about the next day. Tonight, I will be focusing in on the Chicago/Green Bay game as I will be taking the Packers in my Survivor Pool- but that's another story. However, if you want to lay some money down on some football, I suggest looking no further than the Texas/Iowa State game, which gets underway at 8:00 p.m. EST. The Longhorns are currently six-point road favorites and the total is set at 63.5.

Alabama didn't want anyone to forget about them. They went out and absolutely throttled Vanderbilt last weekend. The score was bad enough, but they had 38 first downs compared to three for the Commodores. The Crimson Tide did everything they wanted against a defense many thought was one of the best in the country. They are still the team to beat.

Week 4 of the College Football season provided bettors with a ton of points and a few notable upsets that has the AP Top 25 looking fairly different from how it was pre-kickoff. The afternoon started with the No. 12 Florida State Seminoles getting beat by an unranked North Carolina State team.
Georgia Bulldogs at Tennessee Volunteers Expert Picks with Odds and Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 9/26/2017
The last time Georgia and Tennessee met, college football fans - and bettors - were treated with one of the most bizarre endings of the college football season. The Bulldogs and Volunteers traded Hail Mary's in the final 10 seconds, and Tennessee, with Georgia scoring on a wild 47-yard touchdown with 10 seconds left, followed by Tennessee scoring the game winner on a 43-yard touchdown pass at the buzzer. The Volunteers erased a 10-point fourth quarter deficit and pulled off a wild road win in Athens.
Clemson Tigers at Virginia Tech Hokies Expert Picks with Odds and Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 9/26/2017
We knew that Clemson was going to be involved in what could be the defining game of the ACC season. It's just that everyone thought that it would be on Nov. 11 when they host Florida State, not this weekend in Blacksburg. Florida State's season is off to a disastrous start, though, while Virginia Tech remains ahead of schedule in the second year of the Justin Fuente regime.
