NCAA Football Betting Odds: Week 5 Line Movements & Last-Minute News
by Alan Matthews - 9/29/2017
Arguably my dream job, other than spritzing supermodels with oil on some Caribbean beach (could happen!), would be to work for one of the sportsbooks listed here at Doc's and come up with daily/weekly special prop bets. It would be similar, in my mind, to writing for a sitcom or something were you have to come up with new ideas all the time.
NCAA Football Mid-Major Free Betting Picks: Marshall Thundering Herd Week 5
by Aaron Smith - 9/29/2017
The Week 5 edition of the college football mid-major betting report is here. Marshall had the week off in last week, but they are back in action playing against the Cincinnati Bearcats this weekend. This is the seventh straight season I'm doing the mid-major report for Doc's Sports. How have the selections on the mid-major betting report done? Overall, the record is 40 wins and 29 losses with a gain of $1,500.
Free NCAA Football Picks Week 5: Under-the-Radar Matchups Provide Great Betting Profits
by Chris Vasile - 9/28/2017
Last week I wrote about the high possibility that the game between the Rams and Niners had of finishing at a 0-0 tie. Thankfully I was wrong and fans/bettors had plenty of positive things to talk about the next day. Tonight, I will be focusing in on the Chicago/Green Bay game as I will be taking the Packers in my Survivor Pool- but that's another story. However, if you want to lay some money down on some football, I suggest looking no further than the Texas/Iowa State game, which gets underway at 8:00 p.m. EST. The Longhorns are currently six-point road favorites and the total is set at 63.5.

Alabama didn't want anyone to forget about them. They went out and absolutely throttled Vanderbilt last weekend. The score was bad enough, but they had 38 first downs compared to three for the Commodores. The Crimson Tide did everything they wanted against a defense many thought was one of the best in the country. They are still the team to beat.

Week 4 of the College Football season provided bettors with a ton of points and a few notable upsets that has the AP Top 25 looking fairly different from how it was pre-kickoff. The afternoon started with the No. 12 Florida State Seminoles getting beat by an unranked North Carolina State team.
Georgia Bulldogs at Tennessee Volunteers Expert Picks with Odds and Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 9/26/2017
The last time Georgia and Tennessee met, college football fans - and bettors - were treated with one of the most bizarre endings of the college football season. The Bulldogs and Volunteers traded Hail Mary's in the final 10 seconds, and Tennessee, with Georgia scoring on a wild 47-yard touchdown with 10 seconds left, followed by Tennessee scoring the game winner on a 43-yard touchdown pass at the buzzer. The Volunteers erased a 10-point fourth quarter deficit and pulled off a wild road win in Athens.
Clemson Tigers at Virginia Tech Hokies Expert Picks with Odds and Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 9/26/2017
We knew that Clemson was going to be involved in what could be the defining game of the ACC season. It's just that everyone thought that it would be on Nov. 11 when they host Florida State, not this weekend in Blacksburg. Florida State's season is off to a disastrous start, though, while Virginia Tech remains ahead of schedule in the second year of the Justin Fuente regime.
USC Trojans at Washington State Cougars Expert Picks with Odds and Betting Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 9/26/2017
It would have been very tough before the season to anticipate that this game would have been as significant as it is. Both teams are unbeaten, and Stanford already has a loss, so this game will have dramatic significance in the Pac-12 standings. It wasn't tough to imagine USC being in this situation, but the Cougars are ahead of expectations.
Northern Illinois Huskies at San Diego State Aztecs Expert Picks with Odds and Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 9/26/2017
I am always drawn to underdog stories in sports, so one of my favorite storylines to follow all season in college football is the race for the at-large bid in the big bowls. As the playoff format has evolved and conferences have been shuffled and reshuffled, teams outside of the Power 5 get less attention, but they continue to play great football outside of the national focus.
NCAA Football Predictions: Week 5 Opening Line Report and Picks
by Alan Matthews - 9/25/2017
College football and the NFL are intertwined like the chicken and egg argument - i.e. which came first. The NFL schemes generally follow what happens in college because that's how those players have been trained. And these days, that means much more passing than ever before. Thus, quarterbacks almost always win the NFL MVP Award as well as the Heisman Trophy.
NCAA Football Betting Odds: Week 4 Line Movements & Last-Minute News
by Alan Matthews - 9/22/2017
It's simply reality that college football can't have mega-showdowns each weekend. And if we are being honest, Week 4 looks like perhaps the weakest on the 2017 schedule (not counting only the Army-Navy week, no offense to that game). If you don't want to take my word for it, consider where ESPN GameDay is going Saturday: Times Square in Manhattan. And I don't mean the Little Apple where Kansas State plays.
Mississippi State at Georgia College Football Expert Picks and Betting Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 9/21/2017
These two teams have been in the SEC since 1932 (yes, it is indeed incredibly stupid that two charter members of a conference had the same name), but they have played each other only 23 times before. And this 24th meeting is the first time that both schools have been ranked when they met. In other words, we have a very unique situation here - a Mississippi State and Georgia game that is actually relevant nationally. Both teams are 3-0, both have a signature win, and both are probably at least a little ahead of schedule in terms of where they could reasonably have been expected to be at this point in the season.
Washington Huskies at Colorado Buffaloes Expert Picks and Betting Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 9/21/2017
For a long time last year Washington looked good. Really good. And then they were badly exposed in the end by Alabama. Teams that face a setback like that can either build on it and take a step forward or be beaten down by it and fail to reach nearly the same heights. And our problem is that through three games we still have no idea which is the case with this Washington team. They have played a truly laughable schedule up to this point - Rutgers, Montana and Fresno State in that order.
TCU Horned Frogs at Oklahoma State Cowboys Expert Picks and Betting Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 9/21/2017
The state of Oklahoma is in a serious football zone right now. The state doesn't have many people in it, but it does have two of the Top 6 teams in the AP Poll at this point, and it would be all but impossible to argue that both teams are anything but completely deserving of being there. And while we are used to showdowns between highly-ranked teams from Oklahoma against teams from Texas, what is strange here is that it's Oklahoma State and TCU lining up for what could be a great game, not Oklahoma and Texas.

Another week, another Thursday night football game that I have absolutely no interest in regardless if the score is 0-0 in overtime or a 63-60 shootout (the former is the more likely outcome). Instead, I will watch No.21 South Florida host Temple in a game the Bulls will be seeking to avenge last year's 46-30 loss. As of writing this, the Bulls are 19-point favorites and the total is hovering around 63/63.5 depending on what book you use.
Penn State Nittany Lions at Iowa Hawkeyes Expert Picks with Odds and Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 9/20/2017
Danger lurks at night in the Iowa corn fields. Not in the shadows. But in the bright lights of Kimmick Stadium. After their resurrection in 2016, Penn State entered the 2017 season as legitimate National Championship contenders. And through three games they haven't disappointed, winning all three by a combined score of 141-14. But now the Nittany Lions are facing their first true test when they take on Iowa in an evening kickoff that is sure to rouse some rabble in the Hawkeye State.

Week 3 of the college football season provided bettors with a ton of points and a few notable upsets that has the AP Top 25 looking fairly different from how it was pre-kickoff. The afternoon started with the No. 25 UCLA Bruins getting beat by Memphis 48-45 and then ended with the No. 17 Stanford Cardinals getting upset by unranked San Diego State 17-10.

Clemson's domination of Louisville was the story of the week for me. Clemson is now No. 2 in the polls, and they deserve that spot. We knew the defense would be excellent for Clemson, but Bryant has been better than expected right away at quarterback for the Tigers. They are a really dangerous team moving forward. Mississippi State's thrashing of LSU was definitely a stunner as well. LSU was more than a touchdown favorite much of the week. Mississippi State gets a big test this weekend.

If you do follow any of my stuff regularly, then you likely know I love "first to be fired" props regardless of sport. And we have one for this week courtesy of BetOnline: First SEC coach to be fired. Now, this was clearly posted in the wake of Tennessee's gut-wrenching Hail Mary loss to Florida on Saturday. I still have no explanation for why there weren't like six Vols standing about 45 yards from the line of scrimmage just to knock down a pass in front of their end zone.

With all due respect to the NFL game that is scheduled to happen tonight between the Houston Texans and Cincinnati Bengals, I probably won't watch a single second. Instead, I will focus my attention on the lone college game taking place in Boise, Idaho, where the Broncos play host to the New Mexico Lobos in a battle of 1-1 Mountain West teams. As of writing this, the Broncos are 14.5-point favorites and the total sits at 58.5.
