ROBERT FERRINGO posted a profit in NINE straight soccer matches to start his limited summer release, including calling a +450 upset (Martinique) and hitting another 5-Unit Play (Panama) on Monday! I called the exact score of the Jamaica-United State match last Saturday (1-1) and that is now 10 of 13 wins in this space. Oh, and I am 55-31 (64%) with my free newsletter plays over the last 86 weeks. Let’s keep it rolling. Martinique is a national team that isn’t even a member of FIFA. They are playing great! They have won three straight, and their victory over El Salvador – which included surviving the entire second half playing a man-down – was not a fluke at all. This is a big step up, though, and I think that Panama is too much for them. The Panamanian side absolutely walked through Costa Rica in the first match. That match was not as close as the 2-1 final suggests. This same Panama team made the Nations League semifinals and, frankly, I think they have to be considered one of the favorites to win this tournament. They faced Martinique twice last year in Nations League play and won 5-0 and took a 0-0 draw. It won’t be a 5-0 blowout or anything, but I think that Panama is going to take it to Martinique in this match and get a 2-0 or 3-1 win. If there was ever an argument that sometimes not all division winners belong in the playoffs, this is the year with the AL Central. The Twins have largely been hovering around .500 in this motley crew collection, and by the end of this weekend Minnesota could be in first place and below .500. Baltimore remains one of the best clubs in the AL, and, like him or not, Dean Kremer of the Orioles is blessed with good fortune or does just enough to win. Kremer has an ERA of 4.50 and WHIP of 1.36, which suggests a fifth starter, but this season he is 8-3 (Orioles 11-5) in 16 starts. This is not new as the Orioles right-hander is 18-8 vs. an AL team with an on-base percentage of .330 or worse the last two seasons and 24-10 vs. teams whose hitters strike out seven or more times per game. The Detroit Tigers have been a bit of a surprise so far this season as they're currently less than 5 games out of first place in the American League Central and they've made their backers more than 6 units of profit overall in 2023. The Tigers are scheduled to go with starter Michael Lorenzen in this one. Lorenzen is coming off back-to-back solid starts and overall he's held his own this season with an ERA below 4.00. He goes up here against a Colorado Rockies offense that's ranked dead last currently in wRC+ overall. The Rockies are scheduled to start Austin Gomber in this contest. The 29-year-old left-hander stinks as he's posted an ugly ERA that's above 7.00 on the season and he's been hammered at home with an ERA that sits at 8.72 in Coors Field. The Tigers offense has hit lefties much better than right-handers this year with an OPS that more than 50 points higher against southpaws. Take Detroit to win this game.
