NBA Betting: Atlanta Hawks Season Long Handicapping 11/13/2025 vs. Utah Jazz

All year long, Doc’s Sports will be breaking down every Atlanta Hawks weekday game while providing best bets along the way. Through in-depth research on the Hawks and the league as a whole, we will be able to churn a consistent profit this season. Our red-hot start has us up more than 20 units to start off the year, but there is still a lot of season to go, and lots more profit to be made.
Last night, the Hawks took down the Sacramento Kings in dominant fashion. They took a 37-point lead into the fourth quarter, before eventually winning by a 133-100 scoreline. Not only did the Hawks secure the win, but no one played more than 26 minutes to stay fresh for the second night of their back-to-back tonight. Jalen Johnson had a dominant 23 minutes of action, posting a 24-10-8 statline while shooting 9/10 from the floor. Onyeka Okongwu took advantage of his extra minutes, scoring 21 points while only missing one shot in the game as he looks to earn back his spot in the starting lineup. It was an excellent team performance from the Hawks on both ends of the court, as they made it look easy while holding the Kings to just 39% from the floor.

From a betting perspective, we had a profitable 2-1 night. The Atlanta Hawks' moneyline was never in question, as the Hawks jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. Nickeil Alexander-Walker stayed under his 17.5 point total, as we predicted, as he finished with 14 points in 21 minutes of action. Our lone loss on the night was on Dyson Daniels to get at least one three at +130 odds. While it missed this time, Daniels went 0/2 from behind the arc, and this is a plus-money bet we will make time and time again when the opportunity presents itself.
Tonight, the Atlanta Hawks (7-5) head to Utah to take on the Jazz (4-7) for the third game of their West Coast road trip. The Hawks are coming into this game with plenty of momentum on the back of three straight wins, while the Jazz snapped a three-game losing streak with their big win over the Pacers on Tuesday. The nature of the Hawks' game last night means that the impact of the second night of a back-to-back won’t be as harsh. Flying out of Sacramento late last night will still have them sluggish, but the limited action yesterday means that the Hawks will be fresh for tonight.
Utah was a team expected to be right at the bottom of the Western Conference, as they had -3000 odds to finish last in the conference. Their 4-7 start is not great, but it is also much better than was expected from the Jazz. Injuries to Walker Kessler, Kyle Anderson, and Georges Niang haven’t helped their cause, but the rest of the Jazz lineup has stepped up in their place. Keyonte George is averaging 21.5 PPG this year, joining Lauri Markkanen (28.3 PPG) as the only other player with more than 11 PPG this season. George and Markkanen are the only real offensive threats for the Jazz, which makes them easy to shut down for strong defensive units. Markkanen is tough to guard, but Daniels will undoubtedly do a good job at limiting the impact of George tonight. Utah will need to find a new hero to start contributing on offense or their hot start will be quickly forgotten as they slide down the standings. Unlike the Jazz, the Hawks have found ways to navigate their early-season injuries and have still strung together wins.
Trae Young’s injury absence meant someone had to step up for the Hawks, and while many thought it might be Dyson Daniels, it has been Jalen Johnson who has filled the void on the offensive end. Johnson missed the second half of the season last year due to injury, and his return has given the Hawks legitimate hopes of a deep playoff run. He is averaging 20.5 PPG with 8.7 rebounds and 5.5 assists, but has been even better in recent weeks. He has taken on the role of playmaker alongside Daniels and is playing a very efficient offense. His power in the paint, combined with a soft touch on the outside, makes him tough to slow down, giving the Hawks another threat on offense for the opposition to worry about.
I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again. Trae Young's injury, assuming it doesn’t get aggravated, was the best thing that could’ve happened to Atlanta. Young is incredibly effective on offense, and as a result, other scorers don’t get as much time on the ball. His absence has allowed defensive stars like Daniels and Nickeil Alexander-Walker to develop their game on the offensive end of the floor. Working out the kinks in terms of team chemistry was always going to be a struggle in the early stage of the season, and the Hawks appear to have turned a corner in that regard. They are playing excellent defense, balanced offense, and are poised to find tangible success this season in a wide-open Eastern Conference.
For the first bet of the night, we are all over the Hawks spread at -2. Atlanta is far and away the better team, both in terms of top-end talent and depth off the bench. The fact that they are on the second night of a back-to-back is baked into this line, but they will be surprisingly fresh as they weren’t overworked yesterday. Atlanta has been road warriors this year, going 5-2 away from State Farm Arena, and there isn’t a lot to like about the Jazz right now. The Jazz have been favorites or slight underdogs (2 or fewer points) against the Hornets (4-7), Pacers (1-10), and Suns (7-5) this season. The Hawks are far and away better than all three of those units, making this line very hard to justify. Atlanta is the better team, and they will prove it tonight with a crucial win as they look to head home for the weekend.
For the second bet of the night, we will take Keyonte George to stay under 19.5 points. Daniels does a great job at forcing someone other than the lead guard to beat Atlanta, and I don’t expect him to be on Markkanen very often. With Daniels stuck to George on the offensive end, the 22-year-old will struggle to create his own offense. This is a great time to sell high on George’s hot start, and we will do exactly that with this under.
