Hot and Cold NBA Betting Teams ATS and Over Under 2/10/2026

The NBA All-Star break is just days away, and some teams have entered the break on fire, while others have been falling short. The post-trade deadline NBA landscape is always fascinating, as teams have made their intentions clear on whether they intend to win now or prepare for their future. The NBA odds often adjust to these new motivations, but this can be one of the most profitable stretches of the season if you play your cards right. Over the last few weeks, some teams have been able to consistently cover spreads, while others have fallen short. Here are the hottest and coldest teams against the spread, with the highest and lowest scorers over the last ten games.
Doc’s Sports offers NBA expert picks for every game on our NBA predictions page.
The Hot:
New York Knicks
The New York Knicks are the hottest team in basketball, winning and covering in nine of their last ten games. Jalen Brunson’s heroics have been clutch, but the real difference is the Knicks willingness to buy in on the defensive end of the floor. They are slowing the pace, stopping almost all transition baskets, and putting together dominant showings after dominant showings. On the glass, Karl-Anthony Towns has been an absolute animal. He is second in the league with 11.9 rebounds per game, with an astonishing 15.3 rebounds per game in his last six appearances. Towns has also been contributing on the offensive end, but his most valuable asset is his ability to create extra possessions for New York. They have consistently gotten big spreads, but it hasn’t slowed them down, with six of their last seven wins being double-digit victories. Against an inferior Eastern Conference foe, the Knicks will continue to beat the spread in the coming weeks.
Charlotte Hornets
What happened in Charlotte? It appeared as though the Hornets were destined for another year in the lottery positions before they ripped off nine consecutive victories. A brawl in their recent matchup against the Pistons snapped their streak, but they are still 9-1 straight up and 7-3 against the spread in their last ten games. Charlotte’s ability to defend has transformed their outlook, as they suddenly have a bright future with plenty of young talent. Chicago star Coby White is now in the fray, which turns this team from an afterthought into a sleeper in the East. Charlotte is still getting disrespected on the odds after years of misery, making this a trend that is likely to continue until the end of the year.
The Cold:
Chicago Bulls
The Chicago Bulls have plummeted out of a playoff spot, losing and failing to cover in eight of their last nine games. Ugly losses to the Nets, Bucks, and Pacers are just the icing on the cake, as Chicago now has a brutal stretch of tough games upcoming. Chicago clearly assessed their team correctly at the deadline, opting to sell high on some stars while prioritizing the future of the franchise. Josh Giddey appears to be sidelined with an injury, and whether or not that is valid, the Bulls are still without their stars. Anfernee Simons arrival will give them a spark, but it won’t be enough to save them in the win column. However, the spread may be a different story. The Bulls have been consistent at covering double-digit spreads on the road over the last few years, and have gone 4-1 against the spread when they are an underdog of at least nine points this season. If you can get a favorable number, plug your nose and take the points with Chicago.
Golden State Warriors
What was supposed to be one last dance for Steph Curry and Draymond Green has turned into a complete disaster in the Bay Area. The Warriors have gone 4-6 straight up and 3-7 against the spread in their last ten, and there is no end in sight. Trading for Kristaps Porzingis at the trade deadline was not a wise move, as he is rarely available to suit up as he deals with frequent illnesses and injuries. In the opposite vein to the Hornets, the public hears Golden State and assumes they are still relevant. When the Warriors are favored, especially on the road, they are an automatic fade for the rest of the season.
High Scorers:
Denver Nuggets
The Denver Nuggets have put together historic offensive numbers this season, and the oddsmakers can’t keep up. The Nuggets are once again 7-3 to the over in the last ten, bringing their season record to 34-20 to the over. Some seemingly difficult defensive matchups saw Denver get four of their last ten with a closing total of under 220 points, with eight of their last ten being under 230. Considering how automatic they have been over this season, those numbers are hard to justify. As long as Jokic is healthy and ready to go, the over is the way to go in any game featuring Denver with a sub-230 closing line.
Memphis Grizzlies
The Memphis Grizzlies have been high scorers as of late, going over the total in seven of their last ten. However, this hasn’t been due to an electric offense, but rather their complete inability to defend. They have allowed at least 110 points in eight straight, and 120+ in five of their last six. They traded away their star defender, Jaren Jackson Jr, at the trade deadline, which means that this trend is unlikely to slow down anytime soon. Ja Morant appears more interested in social media than his teammates, and it is hard to imagine a coherent defensive effort down the stretch for the tanking Grizzlies.
Low Scorers:
Boston Celtics
Boston has stayed under the total in nine straight games, emerging with a 6-3 record in that span. Not only have the Celtics been staying under the totals, but it frankly hasn’t been close. They have covered the under by at least ten points in seven of their last eight, holding their opponents to under 100 points in five of those contests. The Celtics have not been deterred by Jayson Tatum’s injury and have taken real pride in their work on defense. The star power they have makes the public expect high-scoring thrillers, but their defensive effort has created the opposite effect. However, the Celtics have been cold from behind the arc in the last few weeks, and their barrage of threes will eventually start running up the scoreboards. If their closing totals start dropping below 210 points, this could be a prime ‘buy low’ spot for Boston.
New York Knicks
The Knicks have been stringing together wins thanks to their consistent effort on the defensive end of the floor. New York has won nine of their last ten, and the total has stayed under in eight of those games. Their highlight defensive showing came in their 120-66 blowout against the Nets a couple of weeks ago, and they have proven that it was no flash in the pan. Aside from a 134-127 overtime thriller against the high-scoring Nuggets, New York has allowed just 95.4 PPG in their last ten games. Josh Hart, OG Anunoby, and Karl-Anthony Towns have really stepped up on that end of the court, and this appears to be a team that is determined to chase down the Pistons at the top of the conference. As long as the Knicks keep winning, the unders will keep cashing.
