NBA Betting: Atlanta Hawks Season Long Handicapping 3/30/2026 vs. Boston Celtics

All season long, Doc’s Sports will be breaking down every Atlanta Hawks weekday matchup while providing best bets along the way. We won’t always tail the Hawks, but we have proven the ability to generate consistent, positive winners this year.
On Friday night, the Atlanta Hawks fell to the Boston Celtics 109-102. Boston was without Jaylen Brown for the matchup, but they still had enough firepower to squeak past Atlanta. Payton Pritchard caught fire off the bench with 36 points, while Jayson Tatum’s 26-point double-double was too much to overcome. Jalen Johnson, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, and CJ McCollum all scored 20+ points, but no other Hawk finished in double digits as the Celtics clamped down on defense. The Celtics also held a +17 rebounding advantage, allowing them to pick up a crucial win despite the fact that Boston committed 15 turnovers to the Hawks' four.

From a betting perspective, we went 2-3. We had three bets on Nickeil Alexander-Walker, which were for him to score 3+ and 4+ threes, with 20+ points. He finished 2 for 5 from behind the arc but still reached the 20-point threshold in the defeat. Our next pick was on Onyeka Okongwu to drain over 1.5 threes, and he finished 1-for-2. Finally, we got back in the win column with Dyson Daniels to go over 1.5 steals, which he did, finishing with exactly two.
The Hawks got back in the win column on Saturday night, swatting aside the lowly Sacramento Kings 123-113. Sacramento took an early lead, but the Hawks' starting five had an excellent game, as Johnson, Mouhamed Gueye, Jock Landale, and Alexander-Walker all finished with a +21 +/- or better. Okongwu, Kuminga, and Daniels all sat out with injuries, but the Hawks still got the job done with a shorthanded lineup against the 19-57 Sacramento Kings.
Tonight, the Atlanta Hawks (42-33) host the Boston Celtics (50-24) at State Farm Arena. Boston picked up a big win against Atlanta on Friday night, but the Hawks will be hoping that a venue change has them set up for some revenge. They also have a rest advantage, with the Celtics having played last night, as Boston used a big first half to secure a 114-99 road win over Charlotte. Nikola Vucevic, Derrick White, and Jaylen Brown all sat out with an injury, while Neemias Queta and Jayson Tatum were both questionable but suited up for Boston. The Celtics already proved that their ‘defense-first’ play style can remain effective regardless of who is on the court as long as they have a reliable scorer on the other end of the court. They haven’t released their injury report yet for tonight, but it would be a real surprise to see all their starters good to go on the second night of a back-to-back. We won’t know exactly which combination of players will suit up, but it is safe to say that the Hawks will look to take advantage of a scheduling and health advantage in this potential first-round playoff preview.
Atlanta has a clean injury report for tonight, which means a deep rotation for Quin Snyder to work with. Snyder has done a great job at keeping guys involved, as it isn't always easy to manage the minutes of 12 or 13 players in the rotation. That is a good problem to have for the Hawks, who overcame early-season injuries to climb back into a playoff spot. Even with their Friday night defeat to the Celtics, they are still 16-3 since the All-Star break, with 15 wins in their last 17 games. None of the Eastern Conference contenders will want to run into a surging Hawks side in the playoffs, as Atlanta has emerged as a real dark horse in the East. With seven games to play, tonight's matchup against Boston is crucial as just three games separate the 6th-place Hawks and the 10th-place Hornets.
Atlanta did lots right against Boston on Friday, but they had a cold night from the floor and could not chase down their offensive rebounding chances. Boston played some bully ball down low to outhustle the Hawks, something that Snyder will not want to see happen again. While the Celtics hounding defense is always tough to navigate, there are several other advantages in Atlanta’s favor. Their deep bench combined with a rest advantage is a recipe for success, and that only gets amplified when the Celtics are also dealing with injuries. This game still means something for the Celtics, but they have a healthy lead for second-place in the East, and it means much more to the Hawks right now.
Atlanta comes into this one as a -1.5-point home favorite, and this is absolutely a line we can get behind. The Hawks love to get out in transition, and that will be a point of emphasis tonight. They looked great against the Celtics for most of the matchup on Friday, but just couldn’t hit their open shots when they needed to most. Boston has the championship pedigree needed to succeed in the playoffs, but they may take their foot off the gas slightly with just a handful of nearly meaningless games to go. A fully healthy Hawks side will control the tempo, overwhelm Boston, and pick up a huge win and cover over the 2024 NBA champions.
A very murky Celtics injury report makes it tough to evaluate matchups, but we can expect a big game from Dyson Daniels in this one. Daniels is known for his defense but has improved his offensive game this season for the Hawks. His minutes will be safe with a deep rotation as a ball-handler that leads the defense, and we will look for him to stuff the stat sheet tonight. His points + rebounds + assists line is at 21.5, and that is a number we can get behind. We will also take him to have a solid night on defense with a -160 price tag on his steals line at 1.5. Daniels got two steals against Boston on Friday, with lots of deflected passes, and he will turn his defense into offense in a pivotal game for Atlanta.
