NBA Betting: Atlanta Hawks Season Long Handicapping 3/4/2026 vs. Milwaukee Bucks

Doc’s Sports will be breaking down every Atlanta Hawks weekday game this season to churn a profit through patient handicapping daily. We are already up more than 40 units this season, but the job is far from finished.
We took a week off from this column, as the last breakdown and picks were for the Hawks vs. Heat game on February 20th. Miami stormed out to an early lead and never looked back, winning 128-97. We swept our picks that night, taking both the Heat -3.5 and Jaime Jaquez Jr. to go over 4.5 rebounds, and he finished with 5.

Since then, Atlanta has ripped off four straight wins to claw back to .500 on the season. Not only have the Hawks been winning, but they have secured a double-digit victory in all four triumphs and have looked amazing now that they’re finally healthy. They will have tougher games in the future than the Nets, Wizards, Wizards again, and the Trail Blazers, but the Hawks took care of business and are heating up with 20 games to go.
Tonight, the Atlanta Hawks (31-31) visit Milwaukee to take on Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks (26-34). This is a huge game for both teams if they want to keep their play-in tournament hopes alive, as they are currently sitting 10th and 11th in the Eastern Conference standings. However, Milwaukee’s playoff hopes are hanging on by a thread, as their own players have already called on fans to curb their expectations. Bobby Portis came out and said their recent win streak was “fool’s gold," and the Bucks swiftly dropped three straight since. Milwaukee will always have a chance to win when Antetokounmpo is healthy and on the court, but taking down a red-hot, full-strength Hawks side will not be easy.
Atlanta has been dealing with injuries all season, but a completely clean injury report tonight has them ready to take down the Bucks. Jalen Johnson is still the main man in Atlanta, but the arrival of Jonathan Kuminga has propelled the Hawks further up the standings. Kuminga was acquired from the Warriors for Porzingis at the trade deadline but only made his Hawks debut last week. He immediately won over the Hawks’ fans, throwing down a trio of enormous dunks at home, averaging 21.3 PPG in 26.7 minutes of action through his first three games. Kuminga was always going to be a boom-or-bust acquisition for the Hawks, and it is looking as though it is the former. His explosive ability in the paint, combined with tenacity on the defensive end, makes him a crucial part of this rotation. Not only that, but a healthy Hawks side is so deep that Kuminga and Zaccharie Risacher are coming off the bench, a luxury few teams in the league have.
If Atlanta wants to make a deep playoff run, it will be thanks to their depth and defense. They don’t have a real game changer like Brunson, Cunningham, Mitchell, Brown, or Embiid on their roster, but they have one of, if not the most balanced starting fives in the conference. The development of Nickeil Alexander-Walker has been remarkable, Johnson is showing what he can do now that he’s healthy, and Onyeka Okongwu is turning into a capable scorer at all three levels on offense. There are still aspects of their game that need improvement, primarily their rebounding, but their efficient offense and active defense allow them to offset those extra possessions. If Kuminga can stay healthy, he has shown he can dominate in the paint at small or power forward, helping the Hawks gang rebound in the paint. Just like their offense, the Hawks don’t have a dominant rebound grabber on their roster and will need to rely on the entire team to find success.
In tonight’s matchup, the Hawks will win if they can slow down Giannis Antetokounmpo. Milwaukee is devoid of scoring talent outside of the Greek Freak, as Kevin Porter Jr.’s 17.5 PPG is the second most on the team (the Hawks have four scorers with 18+ PPG for comparison). Now that Antetokounmpo is on a minutes restriction due to injury/tanking purposes, the Bucks really struggle to put together a coherent effort across all four quarters. Players like Ryan Rollins, Cam Thomas, and Bobby Portis are solid role players, but they aren’t second or third options on a competitive NBA roster. Outside of Antetokounmpo, the Hawks are better in every other position, including off the bench, and anything other than a fifth straight win would come as a real surprise.
The betting odds don’t agree. Atlanta is coming in as a +100 underdog on the moneyline, making them an incredible play at those odds. The Bucks have been dropping games; they don’t have the roster around Antetokounmpo to beat the Hawks, and Atlanta is as healthy as they’ve been all season. They are on the road, but considering their 17-15 road record is better than their record at State Farm Arena, I am not concerned about the venue being the deciding factor. The Hawks have the most assists in the league, while the Bucks are 28th in steals this year. On offense, Atlanta will be able to effortlessly pass the ball around the Bucks, find the open shooter, and drain the deep ball. We will take the +100 moneyline for our top play of the day.
For the second bet of the night, we will take Ryan Rollins to stay under 16.5 points + rebounds. Rollins is moving into a new role with Giannis demanding more of the ball in his hands and will likely be starting on the bench tonight. His minutes will take a small hit as a result, and I expect him to play more of a facilitator. Cam Thomas is a trigger-happy shooting guard, which has forced Rollins into fewer high-quality shots. As long as he continues that trend, a 16.5 points + rebounds line is a little bit too high.
