2026 New York Knicks Predictions with Best Bets and Odds to Win NBA Championship

The New York Knicks snapped arguably the most famous championship drought in the world of sports with their NBA title last season. Jalen Brunson was named Finals MVP, as the whole team clicked at the right time. They lost only three games by a combined six points en route to the championship, putting together one of the most dominant runs of all time. This year, the expectations are high for the Eastern Conference favorites, but running it back is never easy. There have been eight different champions in the last eight years, but New York will be confident they can be the ones to snap that streak of parity.

New York Knicks Offseason Recap
Like many reigning champions, the New York Knicks opted to run it back with a similar core this year. They kept their top seven players in terms of minutes per game on the roster, and Mitchell Robinson is the only player who got non-garbage time minutes in the playoffs who is leaving the team. Robinson is a dominant force in the paint who is especially lethal on the offensive glass, posting 2.6 offensive rebounds per game in the playoffs during just 13.9 minutes on average. His 29% free throw percentage in the playoffs made him a liability late in games, but he had several key plays that helped New York win it all.
Replacing Robinson as the backup behind Karl-Anthony Towns is Andre Drummond. Drummond is entering his 15th season in the NBA and has a very similar style to Robinson. He never shoots the three and instead stays right under the hoop, and is a rebound vacuum on both ends of the floor. His 49% career free throw percentage is as atrocious as Robinson’s, but he has improved over the last several seasons with back-to-back years of shooting 62% or better from the line. The Knicks know exactly what they will get out of Drummond, who is the perfect replacement for Robinson.
The only other point of interest this offseason was the fact they were unable to extend Josh Hart and Karl-Anthony Towns with a week to go until tip-off. There was some frustration from both camps about how the negotiations have gone, and now the front office has paused all extension talks before the season begins. Neither player is likely to sit out, which means this will have little to no impact on the upcoming season.
2026 New York Knicks Season Expectations
Run. It. Back. There is only one thing on the Knicks’ minds, and that is to become the first back-to-back champions in more than a decade. The core of their team is still in their respective primes, and the Knicks were a truly dominant force on both ends of the floor last season. They were top-seven in both offensive and defensive rating in the regular season, and got even better in the playoffs. Unlike previous editions of the Knicks under Tom Thibodeau, Mike Brown did an excellent job of rotating his players not only during the regular season but the early rounds of the playoffs too, which allowed them to stay fresh for the grueling playoff grind. They had elite offense against set defensive units, their transition defense was excellent, and they would always play at their slow pace rather than being lured into a track meet by their opponents.
The Knicks have a very strong team with defensive anchors OG Anunoby, Josh Hart, and Mikal Bridges, a punishing presence in the paint with Towns, and a strong bench with Miles McBride and Landry Shamet both playing good basketball. That roster would be able to potentially contend, but they would not have won the championship without the play of Jalen Brunson. Brunson averaged 28.4 PPG with 6.1 assists in the postseason, and seemingly always turned up when the Knicks needed him most. His ability to throw conventional basketball out the window in the fourth quarter and actually find success with seemingly impossible shots made the Knicks a real treat to watch. Brunson would trash talk his opponents, wouldn’t be afraid to lower his shoulder, and never backed down with the city on his back. If he can channel that energy again this year, there is nothing stopping the Knicks from running it back.
The only questions lingering over the Knicks right now is whether or not there will be a championship hangover, and if the motivation is still there to leave it all on the court after playing more than 100 games last year. The limited roster turnover means that there are fewer mouths to feed in terms of championship hunger, but that comes with the benefit of Brown already knowing what works with this team. On the flipside, the whole league will have had months to pore over how the Knicks won and how to best take them down. Anytime the reigning champions come to town, the date will be circled on the calendar, which means the Knicks cannot afford any complacency this season.
2026 New York Knicks Schedule Breakdown
The New York Knicks have no shortage of high-profile nationally televised matchups this year. They open up the season against LeBron James and the Philadelphia 76ers, with tickets starting at $1,200, then head to TD Garden to take on the Celtics. Jumping to December, the Knicks have a particularly harsh stretch with a seven-game road trip followed by a three-game homestand followed by a six-game road trip. Even the three games at home will be far from a rest, as they are three games in five days including a Christmas Day matinee against the San Antonio Spurs. Their schedule opens up after that with nine of their next 11 at home, as the Knicks schedule can be summed up with lots of lengthy homestands and road trips compared to most teams.
2026 New York Knicks Betting Odds
The New York Knicks won 53 games last season, and they are expected to have a similar year this season with a 52.5 win total. That puts them on top of the East with +300 odds to finish as the number one seed, and +1200 to have the best record in the NBA. In terms of the playoffs, the Knicks are all but a shoo-in with -1500 odds to make the playoffs and lengthy +400 odds to slip into the play-in tournament. The Knicks are the favorites to win the East at +340, but there is still plenty of money to be made with six teams coming in at +900 or shorter. Finally, the Knicks have the fourth-shortest odds to win the championship at +900.
In the NBA Cup, New York is in a very difficult group with the 76ers, Cavaliers, Heat, and Pacers. All five teams will be expecting to come out on top, and New York is the joint favorite alongside the 76ers with +225 to win the group, and has +1200 odds to win the NBA Cup.
2026 New York Knicks Season Predictions and Best Bets
The New York Knicks are a very well-rounded, well-coached team with no real flaws in their roster. They have a star in Brunson, they have the defense in Bridges and Anunoby, they have the heart in Hart and Towns, and they have a deep bench unit. Unless injuries derail their season, a campaign with around 50 wins can be rightfully expected. However, that doesn’t mean there is automatically value on the Knicks, as that also relies on them staying healthy. The championship hangover is real, especially for a team that was celebrated in the way the Knicks were. The roster is full of professionals that know what it takes to win, but while New York spent the summer rightfully celebrating, the rest of the league was already getting back to work. For the first pick, we have no choice but to take under 52.5 regular season wins. I think the Knicks can make another deep playoff run and may find success in the NBA Cup, but sustained hot stretches over 82 games after the short offseason they had is a lot to ask. Everything went right for New York last year and they still only finished with 53 wins, so one big injury or lapse in focus could see them slide down the standings.
The Eastern Conference is going to be very competitive this year with ten teams at +2200 or shorter to win the conference, which means there will be serious disappointments before the playoffs even get underway. Not only do I expect the Knicks to finish in the neighborhood of 42-48 wins this year, but that may even be enough to see them slide into the play-in tournament. As of now, the Cavaliers, Raptors, Heat, and Pacers are expected to be the fifth through eighth seeds, and their win totals are right in the 45.5 range. I like the +400 play-in tournament odds more than their +700 odds to miss the playoffs, as I don’t see them dropping all the way down, but why not also shoot for an exact seeding pick at +1200 odds. When New York finishes 7th or 8th in a very competitive East, they will buckle down and lean on their championship experience to win the first play-in game. We can target +1200 odds on them to finish as the seventh seed, after the play-in tournament, and there is plenty of value there as we sell high on New York.
Pick: New York Knicks Under 52.5 Wins
Pick: New York Knicks to Participate in the Play-In Tournament +400
Top Pick: New York Knicks to Finish as the Seventh Seed +1200
