2026 Oklahoma City Thunder Predictions with Best Bets and Odds to Win NBA Championship

The Oklahoma City Thunder were unable to make it back-to-back championships last season, and they will be hungry to return to the NBA summit. They are once again title favorites, as their core led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander returns to Oklahoma City. The Thunder had the best defense in the league last season, incredible offensive talent, but fell short in the third round at the hands of the San Antonio Spurs. Anything less than another 60+ win season followed by a deep playoff run would be a shock, but how can we best attack the Thunder’s current betting odds?

Oklahoma City Thunder Offseason Recap
The Oklahoma City Thunder have a stockpile of high draft picks that have kept them near the top of the league for several seasons. However, as they continue to draft premier talent, the contracts can get expensive down the line which has forced the Thunder to shed some depth. The Thunder traded Lu Dort, Aaron Wiggins, and Isiah Joe for peanuts, for the sole purpose of getting under the second apron.
Lu Dort is the biggest loss for the Thunder, as he was an excellent on-ball defender and finished fourth in Defensive Player of the Year voting one season ago. Dort was a big reason why the Thunder allowed 8.3 fewer points per 100 possessions than the league average last year, but his lack of an offensive game saw his minutes diminish later in the year. Wiggins is another big loss as he was developing into a solid two-way player for the Thunder, and made 21 starts last season. The Thunder have the bodies to make up for their gaps at guard, but they no longer have an extraordinary amount of depth on the bench, just a well above-average second unit.
The Thunder had two picks in the top-16 of the draft this year thanks to their patient rebuild approach. They took National Champion Aday Mara with the 12th overall selection and Bennett Stirtz at 16th overall. Mara had a big role to play in Michigan’s magical March Madness run, as his 7-foot-4 size allowed him to turn into an elite rim protector. He also has a good touch on offense combined with strong passing for a big center, and will make an impact this season off the bench. For Stirtz, it will be harder to break into the rotation, but the departures of three guards will make it a bit easier. He is a great shooter who is familiar with the pick-and-roll, but his ceiling is lower as he is already 23 years old. That does result in composure, which raises his floor on a team like the Thunder, and will make Mark Daigneault comfortable throwing him in the fire.
2026 Oklahoma City Thunder Season Expectations
The Oklahoma City Thunder are expecting to be the best team in the league in the regular season, win the NBA championship in the playoffs, and maybe toss in an NBA Cup title for the fun of it. Their young core is only now entering their prime, and OKC has already proven they have the championship mettle needed to make consistent deep playoff runs. They have been patient in their rebuild and it is paying off in a big way, as the Thunder have a core that other franchises can only dream of. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is the reigning two-time MVP, Chet Holmgren is one of the brightest stars in the league, while Jalen Williams, Cason Wallace, and Ajay Mitchell are only getting better. Once you toss in the sturdy Isaiah Hartenstein at center with the reliable Alex Caruso off the bench, it is no surprise to see the Thunder at the top of the championship odds.
The core of Oklahoma City is so good that it almost overshadows what Gilgeous-Alexander does on the court. He has gotten his flowers with two straight MVP titles, a Finals win and a Finals MVP award to go with it, but it still feels like Gilgeous-Alexander is not quite respected compared to the league’s other elite talent. Sure, he has led the league in free throws in three straight seasons, and maybe that will change with the emphasis on reducing flopping this year, but the reality is that it isn’t his fault defenders hack him down in the lane. Gilgeous-Alexander is one of the best finishers from in tight, as the way he contorts his body in the air draws defenders in or else he will finish for an easy two. He has also quietly broken his career high in assists in three straight seasons, and also shot a career-high 55.3% from the floor on a stunning 31.1 PPG. No other shooter is putting up his efficiency with even close to the same volume, and we haven’t even talked about his defense. Gilgeous-Alexander is a hound on the perimeter, he rarely gets into foul trouble, and there is no reason to expect anything less on that end of the floor this season.
The Thunder are an excellent team on offense, but they take things to another level on the defensive end. Losing Dort will leave a big hole on defense, but there is more than enough depth on this roster to make up for it. Gilgeous-Alexander and Cason Wallace are both excellent on-ball defenders on the perimeter, while the towering duo of Holmgren and Hartenstein keeps things tidy in the paint. Holmgren finished as the runner-up for Defensive Player of the Year last season, while Wallace finished seventh, and there are truly no holes on the defensive end. The staggering -8.3 points allowed per 100 possessions compared to the league average says it all, as OKC enters the year as worthy title favorites.
2026 Oklahoma City Thunder Schedule Breakdown
The OKC Thunder open up the season on the road in a Western Conference Finals rematch against Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs before playing their next three at home. The Thunder avoided any long road trips this year with a very favorable schedule, as they only have one stretch of four straight road games, which comes in the middle of November including an NBA Cup game. Their NBA Cup schedule is also quite favorable, as they take on the Grizzlies and Clippers on the road then host the Pelicans, all three of which are very winnable, then host the Timberwolves in a game that will potentially be for top of the group. Their longest homestand comes in February with seven straight at home, but they welcome the Spurs, Celtics, Knicks, and 76ers in that stretch, which are all tough matchups.
2026 Oklahoma City Thunder Betting Odds
The Oklahoma City Thunder are the favorites to win just about everything. In the regular season, they have a win total of 61.5, the highest in the league, which is a mark they have eclipsed in back-to-back 64+ win seasons. They have +105 odds to finish as the top seed in the West, and +115 odds to finish with the most regular season wins in the NBA. A playoff spot is all but guaranteed at -50000 odds, and the Thunder have very lengthy +3500 odds to even slip into the play-in tournament.
In the playoffs, Oklahoma City has +135 odds to win the Western Conference and +260 odds to win the NBA title, both of which are the shortest in the league. Things don’t get any tougher in the NBA Cup either, as a favorable group and schedule release has the Thunder at -240 to win the group and +275 to lift the NBA Cup.
In terms of individual silverware, the Thunder have several contenders. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is +350 to win a third-straight MVP award, trailing only Wembanyama at the top of the list in which voter fatigue may come into play at this stage of his career. With the Thunder the favorites to win both NBA trophies, Gilgeous-Alexander is unsurprisingly favored at +150 to win Western Conference Finals MVP, +260 to win Finals MVP and +425 to win NBA Cup MVP. Gilgeous-Alexander is also a frontrunner for Clutch Player of the Year at +850.
Gilgeous-Alexander isn’t the only member of the team in the running for awards. Chet Holmgren has the second shortest odds to win Defensive Player of the Year at +1100, while Ajay Mitchell has +500 odds to win Sixth Man of the Year. Mitchell will not take the starting role from Gilgeous-Alexander, no matter how well he plays, which makes the Sixth Man award an interesting one to consider.
2026 Oklahoma City Thunder Season Predictions and Best Bets
The Thunder are expected to be dominant once again, and it is hard to argue with that sentiment. They did lose some bench players in the offseason and will be far less deep than they once were, but still have the top-end talent and bench production to make a deep playoff run. For the first bet, we will take the OKC Thunder to win the NBA Cup at +275. The Thunder tasted defeat for the first time in a few years when they were bounced by the Spurs in the playoffs last year, and I expect them to take out some frustration in the NBA Cup. Their first three games are very easy where they will probably be -1000 or shorter to win, and a home game against the Timberwolves is still a relatively straightforward group decider. The +275 odds still leave us with money to be made, but there is an NBA Cup bet I like even more. Chet Holmgren is +15000 to win an NBA Cup MVP, and this is a great bet at odds like these. Gilgeous-Alexander is the obvious favorite for the award, but a shorter sample size means a few big games from Holmgren will get him right in the running. An injury to Gilgeous-Alexander is always a possibility too, and it is very rare we get a 150-1 bet with such a realistic path to cashing.
Finally, we will take over 61.5 wins in the regular season. The Thunder have eclipsed this mark with a few games to spare in two straight years, and while losing depth hurts, the core of their team is also even better as they enter their respective primes. NBA bettors are tired of the Thunder dominating, but the reality is that this team is the best in the league, and a softer Western Conference than previous seasons could see them really pull away.
Top Pick: OKC Thunder to Win the NBA Cup +275
Pick: Chet Holmgren to Win NBA Cup MVP +15000
Pick: OKC Thunder Over 61.5 Wins -120
