College Basketball Betting: Weekly Schedule Spot Fade Picks
by Aaron Smith - 12/14/2015
The College Basketball Weekly Schedule Spot Fade Picks article's third edition is ready to go. Last season was the first for this article. In the small sample size, last season's results weren't very good. Still, there is no doubt that looking closely at the schedule and looking for teams to fade is a very good strategy in college basketball.
NCAA Basketball Betting 3-Point Play: Three Interesting Dec. 12 Opening Lines
by Alan Matthews - 12/11/2015
Welcome to my first NCAA 3-Point Play story of the new season. This will be a near-daily look at three games that caught my eye each day for whatever reason -- often involving ranked teams if possible, but it's all about value so if I see it on Canisius vs. Quinnipiac, well then that's where I'm going. It's still nonconference time in college basketball, so this won't start up in full yet as many ranked teams are still fattening up on cupcakes and a holiday break is coming. But after the New Year, look for this most days to give you a betting head start.
College Basketball Betting: Weekly Big East Handicapping Report
by Dave Schwab - 12/9/2015
As the nonconference portion of the men's college basketball season presses on, the Big East is once again hanging its hat on the No. 9 Villanova Wildcats as the top-ranked team in the conference. However, with teams such as No.12 Xavier, No. 15 Providence and No. 18 Butler also showing up in the AP's Top 25, it's starting to draw some early attention from the betting public.
College Basketball Betting: Weekly Schedule Spot Fade Picks

Doc's Sports is bringing back the Weekly Schedule Spot Fade Picks article for this season once again. Last season was the first for this article. In the small sample size, last season's results weren't very good. College Basketball Betting and Handicapping: ATS Studs and Duds
by Trevor Whenham - 12/8/2015
It is early in the college basketball season. Very early. People who aren't fans of the sport - or at least not fans until after football season ends - can misunderstand just how little things truly matter until conference season starts for all but the truly elite teams. With that in mind, though, it is never too early to take a look the studs and duds from a betting perspective of the season up to this point:

College Basketball Betting and Handicapping: Might be Time to Jump Ship on Villanova
by Robert Ferringo - 12/1/2015
The Wildcats are currently 6-0 and ranked in the Top 10 of both major college basketball polls. They are currently the No. 1-rated team according to Ken Pomeroy. However, I feel confident that if you ask any square bettor or even any decent college hoops fan to name the best teams in the country the would likely run through a dozen or so teams before they got to the boys from Philly.
Big Ten vs. ACC Challenge College Basketball Betting Primer
by Trevor Whenham - 11/30/2015
The nonconference season is full of all sorts of tournaments and other constructed ways of creating meaning for largely meaningless games. For my money, the Big Ten - ACC Challenge is the best of the whole group of events. I'd take it over most of the silly tournaments played in empty gyms and shown on random television networks. Fourteen games played between reasonably well-matched opponents in home gyms with conference pride on the line. It's a perfect invention for late November or early December in college basketball.
College Basketball Betting Value: Under-the-Radar Teams
by Trevor Whenham - 11/26/2015
Before the college basketball season started I made a list, as I do every year, of off-the-radar teams that were intriguing and had the potential to offer some nice value down the road this season. There were 12 teams on the list. At this point in the season there are four from that list that have really stood out for me. Here's a look at who they are, and why I have liked what I have seen:
College Basketball Betting Advice: Overranked Teams to Start Season
by Trevor Whenham - 11/26/2015
There are few tasks that are tougher than setting a preseason Top 25 for college basketball. So much changes every year, and freshman can have such a big impact on games, so it is very tough to truly judge where teams will be at until they hit the court. A lot of bettors, though, pay a lot of attention to polls at the start of the year, relying on them to assess the teams because they aren't able to otherwise.
NCAA Basketball National Championship Predictions: Best Futures Bets
by Robert Ferringo - 11/10/2015
Don't bet money on who will win the college basketball championship. That's the best advice I can give someone looking to lay down money on a college basketball futures bet. I don't like wagers on winning championships in any sport - the odds never reflect the actual degree of difficulty it takes to predict a champion. And trying to predict a college basketball national champion is even more ridiculous than trying to spot a title winner in any other sport, college or pro.
NCAA Tournament Predictions and Early Projections for the Field
by Robert Ferringo - 11/10/2015
Let's go dancing. Making the NCAA Tournament is really the measuring stick of success and failure for most college basketball programs. Every one of the more than 350 teams in the country begins the season dreaming of hearing their name called on Selection Sunday. There can be only one national champion, and that elite status is reserved for only a select few teams. But for everyone else an invitation to The Big Dance is a major victory in and of itself.
Top 12 Nonconference College Basketball Games 2015
by Robert Ferringo - 11/10/2015
College basketball, from a purely competitive standpoint, is a vastly superior sport to college football. Top-tier college football programs each generally have one pseudo-marquee non-league game during their entire campaign. And because college football schedules are laid out years in advance, it is almost impossible to get Top 5 teams from different conferences to meet up in high-profile early-season games.
2015 Kansas Jayhawks Predictions and College Basketball Futures Odds
by Victor Ryan - 11/10/2015
All the pieces are there for Kansas to make a serious national title run. Experience? Check. Kansas returns eight players that averaged double-digit minutes a season ago, including its leading scorer and top assist man. Talent? You got it. The roster is filled with former McDonald's All-Americans, including two elite big men from this year's incoming class.
2015 Duke Blue Devils Predictions and College Basketball Futures Odds
by Victor Ryan - 11/10/2015
Longtime Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski proved he could adapt to the "one-and-done" era of college basketball by riding a trio of one-and-doner's all the way to the national championship a season ago. While this year Coach K brings in another highly-touted class that features four five-star recruits, the sledding could prove a little tougher this time around. None of Duke's freshmen are considered as NBA-ready as their counterparts from a year ago, and the returning veterans are largely role players.
College Basketball National Championship Contenders: the Sucker Bets
by Robert Ferringo - 11/9/2015
Sometimes the best bets are the ones you don't make. And when it comes to making predictions on who will win the college basketball championship, the first step is figuring out who ISN'T going to cut down the nets. Two years ago I nailed a 100-to-1 long shot to win the National Championship, predicting that Connecticut would win it all almost 12 months before they eventually cut down the nets. What did I do for an encore? Well, not much.
2015 Maryland Terrapins Predictions and College Basketball Futures Odds
by Victor Ryan - 11/9/2015
Maryland enters the 2015-16 college basketball season primed for a national title run. A season after winning the Big Ten, the Terrapins are loaded with high-quality players of all types. Returning starters, big-name transfers and McDonald's All-Americans fill the roster for Coach Mark Turgeon, providing a potentially explosive combination.
2015 Big Ten Predictions with College Basketball Conference Betting Odds
by Robert Ferringo - 10/30/2015
The Big Ten is perpetually one of the more overrated basketball conferences in the country. Hey, the Big Ten is top shelf. I'm not arguing whether or not they are an actual Big Boy Basketball Conference like I am with the SEC. But I am saying that members of the bobblehead media and the general betting public seem to suffer an annual delusion about the quality and depth in this league.
2015 SEC Predictions with College Basketball Conference Betting Odds
by Robert Ferringo - 10/30/2015
I was watching ESPN's SEC college basketball preview and can honestly say I'm not sure if I've seen a more blatant case of pandering and peddling from The Worldwide Leader in a long time. ESPN, which owns the SEC Network, has a clear financial stake in promoting what is by far and away the worst of the "Big Six" college conferences.
2015 Kentucky Wildcats Predictions and College Basketball Futures Odds
by Victor Ryan - 10/29/2015
Kentucky basketball under John Calipari has been the embodiment of the cliché "they don't rebuild, they just reload." Since the "one-and-done" rule was put in effect in 2006, no one has navigated the college basketball landscape quite like Calipari and the Wildcats.
