CFL Prediction From Raphael Esparza:

Take ‘Under’ 52.5 Calgary at Ottawa (7:30 p.m., Thursday July 31)

Week 9 starts off at Ottawa and the TD Place Stadium welcomes the Calgary Stampeders. Ottawa has dropped four straight games and three of those games have hit the 'Under'. Ottawa at home hasn't scored over 20 points against any team this season and I don't see it starting Thursday night. I know the last time we saw Calgary on the road they scored 41 points against the Blue Bombers but I don't see Ottawa scoring that much and I believe this total is a bit too high. Ottawa is 1-4 O/U in their last 5 games and the Redblacks last 12 home games 8 of them have stayed 'Under' the total. MLB Prediction From Strike Point Sports:

Take Chicago Cubs over Baltimore (2:20 p.m., Friday, Aug. 1)

The Orioles have had a season to forget and not much has gone right, but they have a chance to trade away some guys to help for the future and get their young guys more playing time at the Big League level. They may have stumbled upon a quality starter in Trevor Rodgers, who showed flashes with the Marlins, but never put it all together. Rodgers has an ERA of 1.49 through 48.1 innings, but I think that is in large part because he hasn’t faced the toughest offenses where I think the Cubs are going to pose a much bigger threat. Cade Horton has 1 win in 6 starts at Wrigley Field which is somewhat shocking seeing how he has not allowed more than 3 earned runs in any of those contests. Horton hasn’t allowed an earned run in each of his last two starts at home and I think he will keep the O’s offense off the board and get his second win at Wrigley this season. The month of August gets started with an interleague matchup between the Orioles and Cubs. Chicago is in the midst of a pennant race with Milwaukee. Baltimore is not the same team on the road and Chicago is a great team at the Friendly Confines. Take Detroit over Philadelphia (6:45 p.m., Friday, Aug. 1)

Two of the best teams in baseball this season face off in this one. The Detroit Tigers are expected to go with starter Tarik Skubal in this one. Skubal is having another fantastic year even more impressive than his 2024 Cy Young season. No signs of slowing down either for the 28-year-old left-hander as he's posted an incredible 1.42 ERA in his last five starts and he didn't allow a single earned run in three of those last five outings. On the other side of things, Philadelphia is expected to go with starter Ranger Suarez in this contest. Suarez hasn't been the same pitcher at home this year compared to on the road as his home ERA is above 4.00 and his road ERA is below 2.00. Play Detroit in this game. Take Toronto over Kansas City (3 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 2)

Toronto is coming off an ugly series in Baltimore and they should be happy to be on their home turf. This is Kris Bubic’s spot in the rotation and the Royals are going to have to try to figure something out here. I think whoever they bring up and fill in here is going to get lit up against a very tough Blue Jays lineup. Take Chicago Cubs (-1.5) over Baltimore (2:20 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 3)

Chicago is 62-44 on the season and currently battling for the number one spot in the NL Central with Milwaukee. Chicago is presently 33-19 at Wrigley Field, 1st in baseball when it comes to offensive runs per game, 3rd in team batting average, and 3rd in home runs in the MLB. Baltimore’s biggest issue all season long has been pitching. The O’s are currently 26th in baseball when it comes to runs allowed against and 27th in ERA as they sit with a high 4.89 team ERA. Day games at Wrigley are absolutely no joke, and Baltimore is coming in here with a brutal 23-32 road record. We expect the Cubs to pound Baltimore here at home today. Let’s drill the Cubs here on the run line, as we expect this game to get way out of hand for the O’s. NFL Futures Prediction From Robert Ferringo:

Take Dallas Cowboys ‘Over’ 7.5 Wins

You hear it all the time: go against the public. Well, that oft-preached and rarely practiced gambling ethos fits perfectly when it comes to this year’s Cowboys. Everyone is walking sideways from this group after last year’s failure. That is creating a bit of an opportunity on a team that is just one year removed from a streak of three straight 12-win seasons. Dallas has gone ‘over’ their Las Vegas season win total three of the past four seasons and have been a solid bounce back team after disappointing campaigns. In 2015 they went 4-12, missed their season win total by -6 games and then rebounded to go 13-3 the next year. In 2020, they went 6-10 and missed their season win total by -5 games and then rebounded to go 12-5 the next year. The Cowboys have had plenty of off-field drama and are doing everything they can to piss off their star players. I still really like the foundation of this offense and I think Matt Eberflus will keep the Dallas defense sharp. When Dak Prescott stays healthy for a full season the Cowboys finish .500 or better. They have hit at least eight wins in all seven of the seasons that Prescott has started at least 12 games, going 71-38 (65%) in those seven years.
