Soccer Prediction From Doc's Sports:

Take Haiti (-140) over Trinidad & Tobago (6:45 p.m., Thursday June 19)

Graded after regulation time - 90min - plus injury time – a DRAW is a loser here. We released this pick at +105 on Sunday on Doc’s page. Us and other sharp bettors drove the line upward but there is still value here. Both sides lost their Gold Cup opener, but Haiti looked a lot better in their loss. They lost 1-0 to Saudi Arabia as a big underdog, and they played well enough for at least a draw but gave up an early penalty. They played strong defense, however, and had some chances for the equalizer. They take a step down in competition here against a T&T side that lost 5-0 in their opener to a USA side that entered the tournament losers of four straight. The Americans scored at will and used T&T as target practice. T&T have won only one of their last eight matches, and they had one draw during that stretch. These sides have met only twice in history, and Haiti won both matches, and neither was at home. This neutral site in Houston won’t make it any easier for T&T, and they will be in tough here. Haiti is the better side. And even though they have lost two consecutive matches, they had won nine straight prior to that, and this seems like a great spot to get back on the winning track and collect full points in the process. Take Saudi Arabia (+0.5) over United States (9 p.m., Thursday, June 19)

Easy win last Thursday with Detroit (-1.5) and I am now 51-21 (70%) with my last 72 Doc’s Sports newsletter plays. We have racked up 77 of 110 wins in this space (70%) and I am 122-61 (67%) with my newsletter plays over the last 183 weeks. As for this play, a Saudi win or a draw would be a winner for us. Now, you know I hate going against the good ol’ US of A. However, let’s slow down on this group. The United States absolutely thrashed Trinidad and Tobago, 5-0, in their first Gold Cup match. However, the Toboggans played like absolute trash in that match. Awful, just awful. So I’m not going to look too much into that success and I still think there are some fundamental problems with this United States team. Unlike T&T, Saudi Arabia is a real team. These guys can play. They have faced some top competition recently (teams like Japan, Australia and Jordan) and beaten them. The core of this group is the same that played in the 2022 World Cup (where they stunned Argentina) and I don’t think they are going to be overwhelmed by what is basically the United States’ ‘C’ team. Aaron Civale got bumped out of the starting rotation in Milwaukee and rather than move to the bullpen, he requested a trade. Civale was roughed up by Toronto last year when he allowed 5 runs (4 ER) over 5.1 innings and I think he will have issues this time around as well as the Jays are 22-13 at home this season. Jose Berrios will have the ball for Toronto and I think he will have a good outing after not being at his best his last time out. Take the Blue Jays in this one.
