Thursday Night Football Picks: Baltimore Ravens vs Miami Dolphins

As we approach the halfway point of the 2025 NFL regular season, some of us may have seen the debacle that is the Miami Dolphins coming. However, who pinned the Baltimore Ravens at 2-5 heading into Week 9?
What’s even weirder is that after you peel back the first layer, you realize the Ravens are the betting favorite to win the NFC North. That’s wild. However, when you consider the run Lamar Jackson and head coach John Harbaugh have been on, Baltimore once again making the playoffs almost seems like a foregone conclusion.
They halted their 4-game losing streak this past Sunday at home against the Chicago Bears. This ended the Bears' 4-game streak, only theirs was a winning one. Many expected Jackson to play against Chicago, but Tyler Huntley got the job done.
The consensus, this week, though, is that the two-time MVP will be back under center for Baltimore.
As for the Dolphins, they secured their second win of the season by embarrassing the Kirk Cousins-led Atlanta Falcons. I don't put much stock into that win, and the opportunity to fade the miserable Miami Dolphins off of a big win seems almost too good to be true.

Baltimore Ravens (-7.5) at Miami Dolphins (+7.5)
The only thing keeping these betting odds and our wishes actually realistic is the hook. Yes, it would be rather lovely to get this one under a touchdown at say (-6.5). Here's where you need to be careful with that type of thinking.
The betting line opened at (-7). Then, what happened? Well, 80% of the money and the tickets, not surprisingly, poured in on the much better team.
It looks like the books want to protect themselves. It's not always like this, but it appears they're attempting to frighten us away.
The Dolphins are dreadful. Their only other win came against the Jets. Right now, the biggest concern in Miami isn’t winning football games. It’s deciding who deserves more blame for their lack of success, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa or head coach Mike McDaniel.
Point Total: 50
We opened at 48.5 and have seen balanced action from both the public and the sharps toward the over. I don’t believe we’ll cross the key number of 51, as the Ravens have held their previous two opponents to 16 and 17 points, respectively.
It should be noted that those two previous opponents have two of the most respected offensive minds in the game, the Bears’ Ben Johnson and the Rams’ Sean McVay, calling the shots.
Moneyline Odds
Ravens: -420
Dolphins: +300
Baltimore Ravens at Miami Dolphins Betting Analysis
Just like they did last season, only earlier this time, the Baltimore Ravens made some adjustments on defense with their secondary. It’s worked so far.
On offense, even with a 4-game skid and losing Jackson to injury, the Ravens have maintained the top spot in the league for yards/carry with 5.3. Teams were loading the box against Derrick Henry, but that will rarely be the case with Jackson and Zay Flowers hooking up for 40+ on play action.
What happens when you get potentially the worst rush defense in the NFL against the best rushing offense, spearheaded by both a future Hall of Fame running back and quarterback?
This could be a smash spot for the Ravens, and honestly, the line could potentially jump above 8. Of course, the Ravens will make an excellent teaser leg for your basic strategy teasers.
The importance of Jackson under center for the Ravens simply cannot be overstated. Thankfully, for the Ravens and most of us football fans, we still have a chance to see Jackson in the Super Bowl. Take the Ravens to run all over the Miami Dolphins on Thursday night.
