Thursday Night Football Picks: Jacksonville Jaguars vs Baltimore Ravens Best Bets

Both Jacksonville and Baltimore are heading into this Thursday Night Football matchup after falling on opposite sides of a blowout last week. Jacksonville is coming off a big 42-7 win over the Indianapolis Colts, while Baltimore is limping after a 36-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills. The Jaguars are now sitting at 5-2 and will hit the road to square off against the 4-4 Ravens, who have a 1-2 record at home this season. The biggest storyline heading into this matchup is the injuries to Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley. Baltimore will be relying on undrafted rookie Joe Fagano on the short week to handle the quarterback duties. While the Jaguars are facing some injuries of their own, it is nothing compared to being down to your third string quarterback on a short week. Baltimore is in some serious trouble here.

Thursday Night Football Jacksonville Jaguars Game Preview
The Jaguars are coming off of a huge win against their division rival Colts. The Jaguars came flying out of the gates, jumping to a 28-0 lead by halftime. They scored 42 points on just 366 total yards of offense largely due to forcing three turnovers. The Jaguars dominated the ground game as they totaled 183 rushing yards and averaged 5.5 YPC. Bhayshul Tuten totaled 104 rushing yards on 16 carries and recorded a touchdown. He also tallied 55 receiving yards and a receiving touchdown. Trevor Lawrence was highly efficient completing 10 of his 14 passes for 210 yards and three touchdowns. The defense played great, suffocating the Colts to just seven points and 243 yards of offense. Rayuan Lane III recorded a pick-six and Branson Combs hauled in the other interception. On the season, Jacksonville ranks 10th in the NFL in YPG (350.3) and fifth in PPG (28). Defensively, the Jaguars are allowing 331.3 YPG but are holding opponents to just 15.9 PPG which ranks second in the league.
The biggest factor in this one is to just play clean football and not give the Ravens any extra opportunities. Jacksonville needs to shut down Derrick Henry and limit the impact of the ground game. They will win if they force Fagano to beat them in the air. Offensively, they need to let Lawrence get going early in order to open up the offense for Tuten to get going on the ground. Lawrence was highly efficient last week, and if he can carry that momentum over early in this one, then the Jaguars can jump out to that comfortable lead that the Fagano led Ravens cannot comeback from.
Jacksonville Jaguars 3 Keys to Victory
- Shut Down Derrick Henry
- Hit Explosive Plays Early
- No Turnovers

Thursday Night Football Baltimore Ravens Game Preview
The Baltimore Ravens are struggling. Jackson is hurt for the second time this season, and he now lands on the IR. Huntley is also likely out with a toe injury, leaving Fagano as the go-to option for this week’s game. Baltimore struggled to do anything against Buffalo. They managed just three points after the first quarter, and just 144 total yards of offense. The Bills held the Ravens to just 68 passing yards and 76 rushing yards. Baltimore turned the ball over three times, and they had the ball for just over 22 minutes. Fagano completed just 10 of his 21 pass attempts. With all the inconsistencies Baltimore has averaged just 338.6 yards of offense per game, and they are averaging just over 22 PPG. Defensively, Baltimore is allowing 331 YPG and 25.4 PPG.
This week, and for however long Jackson is out, is going to be tough. Baltimore has already had to deal with the absence of Jackson before, but this one stings with Huntley also being out, and being on a short week. I do not expect much from Baltimore, but the biggest key for them if they want to win is to get Henry going, and make things a bit easier for Fagano to settle in. Henry and the run game need to bully the defense enough to keep the offense from being one dimensional, then the play calls need to be centered around high percentage plays so Fagano can chip away. The defense needs to do their part by creating turnovers and giving the offense a short field to work with.
Baltimore Ravens 3 Keys to Victory
- Feed Derrick Henry
- High Percentage Looks for Fagano
- Create Turnovers and Give the Offense a Short Field

Thursday Night Football Game Predictions
I am all on the Jaguars here, even with the larger spread. Baltimore does not have an elite defense this season, and I do not think they will be able to slow down the Jaguars continuously. I could see this game being a halfway competitive first half, but I fully expect Jacksonville to blow the doors off of the Ravens and win this one in a similar fashion that Buffalo did. It doesn’t help the Ravens that the Jaguars have the best run defense in the NFL. Take the Jaguars to win this by well over 10 points, and expect this game to hit the under.
My Pick: Jacksonville Jaguars, -10 / Under 40.5
