Thursday Night Football Picks: Green Bay Packers vs Washington Commanders

Guys, I’m still taking my time digesting Week 1. How much fun was that? We got to see the Dallas Cowboys compete with the Philadelphia Eagles without Micah Parsons, who, on Sunday, looked like the best defender in the NFL.
We picked the Ravens and said it would have to be another turnover(s) for them to lose, and that's what happened. Last night, the Minnesota Vikings scored 21 points in the 4th quarter in a rapid comeback, rattling off three touchdowns in just nine minutes, to secure a divisional win against the Bears.
As we turn the page, though, for our next primetime games with an emphasis on “Prime”, as that is where the game will be broadcast, we get a potential playoff matchup between the favored home Green Bay Packers and the visiting Washington Commanders.
Perfect weather is forecasted for Titletown, USA, this Thursday night, and fans are in for a treat. Two quarterbacks, while at slightly different points in their careers, are each on the precipice of superstardom in the NFL.
Between Packers' head coach Matt LaFleur and Commanders' OC Kliff Kingsbury, we have two of the top five offensive minds in football facing off.
Both teams are coming off highly impressive showings in Week 1, albeit against differing levels of competition. They each covered their respective betting spreads with ease. I love how both defensive units completely shut down the running game.

Washington Commanders (+3.5) at Green Bay Packers (-3.5)
We've seen some early action on the Packers, but not enough to move the betting line from where it opened at (-3.5).
Point Total: 48
The point total is what has seen the most love from bettors so far. Both the squares, but more so the sharps, like this short-week matchup of likely playoff teams to go under the current total of 48.
Moneyline Odds
Commanders: +162
Packers: -189
As I'm writing this, the moneyine has moved from (-165) to (-189) for the Pack. I can see that. This team looked outstanding in Week 1 against the loaded Lions.
Washington Commanders at Green Bay Packers Betting Analysis
It's hard not to favor the home team on a short week like this. I do kinda wish it was more of a close game filled with 2nd half emotions, and the Packers may be in store for a letdown, but no.
Green Bay couldn't really run the ball, but they didn't have to. The play calling from LaFleur and the execution from Love, Dobbs, and company were virtually flawless. From there, they made Jared Goff be someone he isn't, a comeback QB.
Daniels, on the other hand, has all the tools. He's gonna need them. The Packers have a guy on the edge now, a true game changer, who has had some of the best games of his career against Daniels.
No, Parsons is not a pest. Even saying he’s a problem feels like an understatement. The man ate up the Commanders last year, collecting 4.5 of the 12 sacks he had in 13 regular season games.
He had one tackle against Detroit. It happened to be a sack, but still, one tackle and the guy completely shifted the game in his team’s favor.
The same can be said for Daniels, though, for Washington. That's the matchup in this one. Forget Love. He's good and gets the job done, but he isn't Daniels. This one is gonna come down to can Daniels dance his way around Parsons to make a game-breaking play? Washington will have their chance, and this one will likely play out very closely.
Washington Commanders at Green Bay Packers Betting Pick
The Commanders bring an entirely different threat on the offensive side of the ball than the Lions. They have a quarterback who can elude rushers, make plays with his legs, throw the ball down the field, and electrify his teammates.
Detroit has none of that. This also plays into why Green Bay was able to keep a lead last week and why it will be much more difficult on Thursday Night Football against Daniels and the Commanders.
Pick: Commanders (+3.5)
