2026 Clemson Tigers Football Predictions with Betting Odds and Best Bets

After entering last season as a Top Five team with legitimate National Championship hopes, the Clemson Tigers crashed and burned early. They lost four games at home and ended up playing in the “You Wish” bowl against Penn State, another preseason championship favorite. Now Dabo Swinney and company have to respond in a way they have never had to, and he made that statement in the offseason. He was aggressive in the transfer portal and brought back familiar faces to the coaching staff. Swinney needs to piece together a successful season this year in order to keep his job.

Clemson Tigers Football Summary of Last Season
Last season was a very disappointing year for the Tigers. After starting inside the Top Five, they quickly fell out of the AP Poll and nosedived for disaster. They began the season 1-3, losing to LSU, Georgia Tech, and Syracuse. Even their lone win was a bit of a struggle as the Troy Trojans gave them everything they had. The Tigers finally reached .500 on the season on October 11 after back-to-back wins against UNC and Boston College. Unfortunately, they would hit their next cold spell, losing in consecutive games against SMU and Duke at home. Clemson would end the season winning their final four games, including two big wins over a ranked Louisville team and their rival South Carolina. They would end the regular season 7-5, which put them in the Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl against Penn State. The Tigers would go on to lose that game 22-10, finishing the season with six losses.
The offense ranked in the middle of the ACC last season. They averaged 392.2 YPG and 27.2 PPG. Cade Klubnik finished the season with 2,943 passing yards and 16 touchdowns. His backup, Christopher Vizzina, totaled 406 passing yards and four touchdowns in 71 attempts. Klubnik also added four rushing touchdowns. Adam Randall led the team with 814 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns on 168 carries. T.J. Moore led the team with 837 receiving yards, while Bryant Wesco Jr. led the team with six receiving touchdowns. Antonio Williams finished second on the team with 604 receiving yards, and he was tied with Moore for the second most receiving touchdowns on the team last season.
Clemson’s defense was decent last season but underperformed relative to all the talent they had on that side of the ball. They allowed over 356 YPG and opponents averaged just over 20 PPG. Sammy Brown led the team with 106 tackles while also adding five sacks, five pass deflections, an interception, and a forced fumble. Wade Woodaz finished second with 70 tackles and he also added three pass deflections. Avieon Terrell led the Clemson defense with five forced fumbles and nine pass deflections, while also totaling 48 tackles. Will Heldt led the way with 7.5 sacks and Ricardo Jones led the team with six interceptions.
2026 Clemson Tigers Football Key Additions/Losses
The Tigers rank 59th in returning production this season. They rank 26th nationally on defense, but on offense they rank 94th. A big reason for this is their deep draft class of nine players from last year’s team. Offensive tackle Blake Miller and defensive lineman Peter Woods were both drafted in the first round. Edge rusher T.J. Parker and Terrell followed in the second round. The rest of the draft class was Williams (third round), Klubnik (fourth round), Woodaz (fourth round), defensive lineman DeMonte Capehart (fifth round), and Randall (fifth round). The Tigers also saw safeties Khalil Barnes (UGA) and Jones (Vanderbilt), defensive lineman Stephiylan Green (LSU), and cornerback Shelton Lewis (Arkansas) leave via the transfer portal.
While the losses did add up, the Tigers did participate in the transfer portal this offseason. They added running back Chris Johnson Jr. (SMU) and wide receiver Jaylen Brown-Wallace (Wingate) to the offense. On defense they added cornerbacks Elliot Washington II (Penn State) and Donovan Starr (Auburn), edge rusher London Merritt (Colorado), defensive lineman Markus Strong (Oklahoma), and safety Jerome Carter III (Old Dominion).
2026 Clemson Tigers Football Schedule Breakdown
Clemson has a conference that enables them to crack the conference championship game and perhaps even make the playoffs, but the schedule is tougher than it may appear. They open the season on the road against LSU which will prove as a good indicator of how well Swinney prepped his guys. Then they have an easy two home games against Georgia Southern and UNC. After those two games, it gets interesting. They travel across the country to take on California and then come back home to take on Miami. After that interesting back-to-back, their remaining home opponents are Charleston Southern, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, and South Carolina; their remaining road opponents are Florida State, Syracuse, and Duke. Clemson has to be on early and at the very least split the games against ranked teams, and avoid trap games against South Carolina, California, and Virginia Tech.
2026 Clemson Tigers Football X-Factors/Big Questions
Is Clemson a threat in the ACC?
No. Their schedule is too hard, and they do not have enough juice like they have in years past. The question at quarterback will define the potential of their season, but this is a program who had a lot of NFL talent on the defensive side of the ball last season, but they didn’t produce together. Clemson has too many questions to answer in order to get back to relevancy.
Is Dabo Swinney on the Hot Seat?
No. No matter how this season shakes out, Swinney will be the head coach at Clemson as long as he wants to be. He may get some pressure from the school if the team severely underperforms like last season, but Clemson should still find their way to a bowl game and they are still bringing in a lot of top talent.

2026 Clemson Tigers Football Predictions and Best Bets:
I am going to stay away from any future regarding this Clemson team. I think they have one of the biggest variances when it comes to the outcome of their record. It wouldn’t surprise me if this team went 9-3 or 6-6, but regardless they will miss out on the conference championship and the playoffs. Regarding their win total, if I had to pick a side, I would be taking the over as I think 8-4 is right where they will be. However, I am staying away from Clemson this season after what happened last year.
Prediction: Over 7.5 Wins, -134
