2026 Philadelphia 76ers Predictions with Best Bets and Odds to Win NBA Championship

The 76ers have been among the Eastern Conference contenders for the last nine years with four top-three finishes and eight playoff appearances. However, they have failed to reach the third round of the playoffs in that span. Whether it was a Joel Embiid injury, a famous Kawhi Leonard game winner, or a lack of momentum in the bubble, just when it looked like the 76ers were going to take the next step, they would fall short. A revamped lineup combined with plenty of star talent has the 76ers once again optimistic this will be their year. Will they finally make a deep playoff run, or will it be another disappointment for the Philly faithful?

Philadelphia 76ers Offseason Recap
The Philadelphia 76ers went all-in on a title. A complete overhaul of the roster has left them with a very deep, very talented roster that has a ‘championship or bust’ mentality heading into the year. The biggest headline in the NBA this year, and potentially the world of sports, is that LeBron James is heading to Philadelphia. James entered the league with impossibly high expectations, yet he has somehow managed to eclipse them. James is the all-time leading scorer in NBA history, he has more than 12,000 career assists and 12,000 career rebounds, and is still an elite contributor entering his 23rd NBA season. James is no longer an MVP candidate, but his high IQ has allowed him to turn into a facilitator at this stage of his career, and the impact he has both on and off the court is immeasurable. He put up 20.9 PPG with 7.2 assists and 6.1 rebounds on 51.5% from the floor at age 41 last year, and has somehow shown no signs of slowing down.
James wasn’t the only big name joining the 76ers this year, as Philadelphia landed Jaylen Brown from the Celtics for Paul George, two first-round picks and two second-round picks. Losing Paul George can’t be ignored, but there is no doubt that Brown is a serious upgrade. Brown won the 2024 Eastern Conference Finals MVP and Finals MVP en route to the Celtics championship, and then carried the Celtics to a 56-26 record with Jayson Tatum injured last year. Brown’s 28.7 PPG with 6.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists were all career highs last year, and allowed him to finish sixth in MVP voting. The Celtics were expected to crumble without Tatum on the court, but Brown once again showed that he was the backbone of the franchise, and will be a massive addition for the 76ers.
The 76ers weren’t done there, as they also picked up Anfernee Simons, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Dean Wade, and Ariel Hukporti in the offseason. Simons is the biggest addition as he was a reliable 20 PPG scorer during his last three seasons with the Trail Blazers before struggling last year with the Celtics and Bulls. Simons is still only 27 years old, so while a massive improvement is unlikely, he should be able to replicate his offensive output from earlier in his career. Caldwell-Pope is a reliable three-and-D wing, while Dean Wade is the perfect defensive anchor for the 76ers to throw out there with the second unit.
The 76ers were not without their losses, as Quentin Grimes, Kelly Oubre Jr., Andrew Drummond, and Trendon Watford left Philadelphia in addition to Paul George in the Brown trade. Grimes and Oubre Jr. were both staples of the 76ers rotation last year, but both declined compared to year’s past, and the 76ers were happy to ship them out to make space for new faces.
2026 Philadelphia 76ers Season Expectations
The Philadelphia 76ers have been stuck with the short end of the stick countless times over the last decade, and now the fan base is quietly optimistic that this could be the year they finally win it all. LeBron’s arrival is the big storyline, but Brown is going to be the more impactful addition. Joel Embiid and Brown are both MVP candidates, and when you round out the starting five with Tyrese Maxey, LeBron James, and VJ Edgecombe, it is hard to find a better five anywhere in the league. All five of those players are capable of averaging 20+ PPG, as four of them have put up 28 or more PPG in a season at some point during their career, with Edgecombe dropping 16 PPG during his rookie year last season.
There is little doubt that a healthy 76ers side can be the best team in the league, but how often will all five starters share the court? Embiid has been plagued with injuries having played only 96 regular season games across the last three seasons, and the 32 year old is not getting any younger. He averaged more than 30 PPG in three straight seasons before injuries derailed his career, and is arguably the most dominant center in the game when he is healthy. Embiid is a former MVP, a perennial contender, and capable of single-handedly carrying a franchise to the playoffs.
Then comes Tyrese Maxey. When Embiid and George were in and out of the lineup last year, Maxey exploded for a career high 28.3 PPG. His ability to heat up in a hurry makes him a player opposing teams always have to watch, and he will have a massive role to play. He is elite in transition and gives a relatively slow 76ers side some speed on both ends, and his undersized build shouldn’t be attacked in set defenses with strong size and support behind him.
The 76ers have a dominant starting five, a very strong bench, and a championship-winning coach in Nick Nurse. The big question is whether or not this team will be able to stay healthy, and how they will share the ball with tons of offensive talent in the starting five. If the 76ers stay healthy, even in a very crowded Eastern Conference, they are the unquestioned front-runner in the conference.
2026 Philadelphia 76ers Schedule Breakdown
The 76ers will quickly learn that it is always a show when LeBron James comes to town. This game will be circled on every team's calendar as James begins the final chapter of his legendary career. They open up the year against the Knicks at Madison Square Garden, then play three straight at home against the Cavaliers, Bucks, and Pistons. Jumping to Christmas, LeBron makes his return to Los Angeles with a Christmas Day game against the Lakers, which kicks off a five-game road trip out West. If the 76ers want to secure a top seed in the East, they will need to take care of business early as 17 of their final 27 games are on the road, including trips to Denver, San Antonio, Toronto, Boston, New York, Minnesota, and Oklahoma City.
In the NBA Cup, the 76ers have a very difficult group with the Knicks, Cavaliers, Heat and Pacers. Their home game against New York on the 30th of October to open up the tournament could decide the group, but there are no easy games in that quartet with it all to play for in East Group B.
2026 Philadelphia 76ers Betting Odds
Philadelphia is coming into the season with a win total of 50.5, which has them tied for second with the Celtics in the Eastern Conference. There are also a handful of teams with win totals of 47-49 wins, but the gap widens when we look at the playoffs. Philadelphia is just behind the Knicks with +360 odds to win the East, and they have the third-shortest title odds in the NBA with +850 odds to win the championship. A playoff spot is likely for one of the title favorites, but it is still not certain with -700 odds to qualify and +290 odds to slip into the play-in tournament.
In the NBA Cup, the 76ers have +225 odds to win their group, and +1200 odds to win the trophy. A tough group means the 76ers will have their work cut out for them starting from the opening tip-off, but if they can stay healthy through the first month of the year, they absolutely have enough talent to make a deep tournament run.
2026 Philadelphia 76ers Season Predictions and Best Bets
Will the 76ers stay healthy? Embiid has dealt with injuries throughout his career, LeBron will need the occasional day off at 41, soon to be 42, years old, while Simons is also injury-prone coming off the bench. While there will almost certainly be speed bumps along the way, the 76ers have enough talent to offset any absences. Even if a player like Brown or Maxey was removed from the equation, the 76ers still have a stacked starting five. These odds imply the 76ers turn into an average team if any of their starters miss time, but I see them needing to lose two, or even three starters before they hit that point. With that in mind, the value is actually on the 76ers to thrive in the regular season rather than the playoffs. For the first pick, we will take the 76ers to finish above 50.5 wins this year.
I always like to hunt for plus money when tying up a portion of the bankroll for long stretches, and think I have found the winning play for the 76ers. It is a bit of a longshot, but Philadelphia has +600 odds to finish as the Eastern Conference’s second seed, and I see value there. One of the fellow contenders will put it all together and stay healthy longer than Philadelphia to claim the top spot, but the 76ers will be right behind in the second seed. I don’t see the 76ers age carrying them to the top seed, but dropping off the podium feels equally unlikely. This will be a sweat down to the wire, but at +600, we can’t say no.
Top Pick: Philadelphia 76ers Over 50.5 Wins -110
Pick: Philadelphia 76ers to Finish as the 2nd Seed in the East: +600
