Toronto Raptors vs Cleveland Cavaliers Playoff Series Predictions and Best Bets

The Cleveland Cavaliers will once again look to turn their sustained regular-season success into a deep playoff run, something they have failed to do in the past. They have finished in the top four in the East for the fourth consecutive season, but they have only had one first-round and two second-round exits to show for it.
In steps the Toronto Raptors, who are back in the playoffs for the first time since 2022. Toronto has a talented starting five anchored by Scottie Barnes, and there are real rumblings that this team is capable of taking advantage of a wide-open Eastern Conference. The Cavaliers haven’t been ruthless in the postseason, while Toronto still has the winning mentality from their 2019 championship run.
One of these Eastern Conference contenders will book a spot in the next round, while the other will have a long summer after a disappointing first-round exit. The oddsmakers have the Cavaliers as strong favorites to advance. However, can the Raptors defy the odds with an upset win? Let’s get into the Raptors vs Cavaliers breakdown and best bets to find out.

Cleveland Cavaliers:
The Cleveland Cavaliers had a young core that they stuck with over the last few seasons but finally elected to mix things up in 2026. They traded Darius Garland and a second-round pick to the Clippers for James Harden, giving their backcourt an offensive boost for the second half of the year. Harden is a proven scorer who can heat up in an instant, and his partnership with Donovan Mitchell in the backcourt has turned the Cavaliers into a very effective offense. They finished the season with a 52-30 record with the 6th-best offensive rating and were even better than that number since acquiring Harden. Both players can create their own offense on the outside, allowing Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen to stay close to the hoop for rebounding opportunities.
Speaking of Mobley and Allen, the Cavaliers will need their towering duo on the inside to dominate defensively. Mobley was once seen as the next great defensive big man, but his deeper analytics have plummeted this season. Meanwhile, Jarrett Allen hasn’t developed into the talent the Cavs thought he would, and injury problems have hurt his mobility in the open court. Cleveland is still a strong team defensively thanks to their rim protection, but Harden’s well-documented defensive struggles on the perimeter mean they have to pick up the slack elsewhere.
Cleveland’s pick-and-roll with Allen and Harden is impossible to slow down, which is something the Raptors will really have to focus on. Toronto has Jakob Poeltl at center, but they lack the depth needed to contain the Cavs big men. Allen should see his offensive numbers pick back up, while Mobley will have a smaller man on him for most of this series. Cleveland has stumbled when it mattered most in recent seasons, but a favorable matchup against Toronto has the fanbase truly believing this could be their year to make a deep playoff run.
Toronto Raptors:
The Toronto Raptors are emerging from their rebuild with a solid roster of talent, but it remains to be seen if they can turn that into playoff success. Centered around Scottie Barnes, the Raptors have built a well-rounded starting five with a deep bench full of defensive superstars. There are few more well-rounded starting units than Barnes-Quickley-Ingram-Barrett-Poeltl in the league, but staying healthy and hitting their stride all at the same time has been the real problem for the Raptors.
Their defense has been excellent under Darko Rajakovic, but their cold spells on offense have prevented them from taking down the top teams in the league. They are only 5-22 against the top four seeds in each conference this season, but that does include a perfect 3-0 record against the Cavaliers in the regular season. Toronto’s defense has allowed them to bully bad teams. However, unless they find sustained offensive success for all four quarters, they will struggle to keep pace with a high-flying Cavaliers offense.
Scottie Barnes is healthy for the first playoff series of his career after he missed time with injuries in the Raptors' only other playoff appearance during his career. His ability to cause havoc on the defensive end is well-known, but his offense is what needs to improve heading into this one. Brandon Ingram is capable of making tough shots, but it will be Barnes that the Raptors turn to when they need a bucket most. His playmaking abilities, combined with his talent for scoring at all three levels, make him the centerpiece of this squad.
If the Raptors are to win this series, they will need to do so with their bench. During their 2019 championship run, the ‘Bench Mob’ played a huge role in their success, and Toronto will look to turn back the clock on Cleveland. Players like Jamal Shead, Sandro Mamukelashvili, and Ja’Kobe Walter aren’t household names, but their two-way style of play has allowed them to wedge themselves firmly in this rotation. Shead is a menace on defense, and his time in the backcourt alongside Quickley has produced some of the best offense for the Raptors. He will be deployed often to shut down Harden, and if the Raptors bench can win their minutes, this series may end up being much closer than the odds imply.
Series Prediction:
The 4 vs 5 matchup is always a fun one in the NBA, but the betting odds have Cleveland as a prohibitive -800 favorite to advance. It is hard to argue that the Cavaliers deserve to be favored, but this series will go right down to the wire. Toronto swept the Cavaliers in the regular season, as their ability to shut down the deep ball from Cleveland came into play. Toronto has the rebounding help they need to contain Mobley and Allen, as their wings are oversized compared to the Cavaliers.
While this one will be close, I do have to give the edge to Cleveland. The Cavaliers went all-in by bringing in Harden at the deadline, and I expect them to at least reach the second round of the postseason. Harden and Mitchell are two of the best iso-scorers in the league, and when the officials swallow the whistle in the playoffs, their clutch shot-making will allow them to prevail. Toronto has also struggled against the top teams in the league this year, while Cleveland is over .500 against teams with winning records. The Raptors also don’t have too many options to go nuclear from deep, meaning they will need to win games the hard way with high-percentage looks on the inside. Toronto makes it interesting, but Cleveland prevails in a winner-take-all Game 7.
Prediction: Cleveland Cavaliers in 7 Games
Best Bets:
Even though I think the Cavaliers will win this series, we will be targeting the undervalued Raptors for our series best bets. A sprinkle on the Raptors at +500 to advance is tempting, but we will instead look at the series spread for value. We can get +190 odds on Toronto (+1.5 Games) and -115 odds on the Raptors (+2.5 Games). Both of these are great picks, as it is unlikely Cleveland will close out a team like Toronto in five games or less. Another intriguing option is looking at the total number of games, where over 5.5 is -105 and over 6.5 is +320. Assuming the Cavaliers win this one in six or seven games, which is what the odds imply, the best way to attack is taking over 5.5 games at -105 instead of the series spread at -115, as it is incredibly unlikely Cleveland wins in five games or fewer. The extra odds are worth the minuscule risk of a crazy Raptors upset. I also like the Raptors +1.5 games at +190 odds, as there is tons of value there considering the series order. If Toronto can defend their home court against a team they are 3-0 against this season, it will come down to Game 7, cashing in our +190 pick.
Pick: Raptors vs Cavaliers Over 5.5 Games -105
Top Pick: Toronto Raptors (+1.5 Games) +190
