2025 College Football Undefeated Teams: Odds and Betting Predictions

So, you’ve got a bunch of kids playing football on Saturdays for four months under the sun, the lights, and sometimes the snow. The vast majority of them are also taking classes, experiencing life away from their parents for the first time, (sub)consciously building their egos as they walk around campus as teenage rockstars.
What are the odds that one of these teams, with all the personalities and variables that go into something like this, all the money, sometimes a hundred million US dollars per season now, finishes the regular season undefeated?
Now add in the fact that small market teams must play big market teams to garner enough respect to make the postseason, as well as said big market teams forming super conferences, and those odds widen faster than your waistline on the last Thursday in November.
Last season was, of course, the first year of the expanded 12-team college football playoff. Only one program, the Oregon Ducks, finished the regular season undefeated. It wasn’t much longer, though, until Daffy’s all-stars were nearly doubled up 41-21 by their newest rival, The Ohio State Buckeyes, who, of course, went on to win the National Championship.
This year, we see many familiar logos and jerseys at the top of the betting board, as we did last year. The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame, the Buckeyes, the big orange paw of the Clemson Tigers, the simple white and navy unis of the Nittany Lions, the burnt orange Longhorn, as well as the image of Uga slobbering on the camera as the Dawgs are about to burst out of the tunnel in the aptly named Athens, Georgia.
We would play ourselves fools, however, to only focus our efforts today on these elite programs, as they are likely to beat up on one another, as the underrated endurance test that is the college football regular season.
With the same betting odds as the Longhorns at 6-1 to finish the regular season undefeated, you’ll find my hometown team, the Liberty Flames. I’ve watched this school grow from a student population of just 5,000 in the early 90s to nearly 150k and growing in 2025.
While the school remains rooted in religion, they have pumped a lot of time, money, and effort into their athletics, especially the football team.
Last year was a down year for the Flames, but watch out in 2025. They have a “darn” good shot at finishing the regular season undefeated.

Best Bets for NCAAF Teams to Finish the Regular Season Undefeated
Clemson: +375
I'm very high on the 2025-2026 Clemson Tigers to take the ACC and qualify for postseason play. If they can win their opener opposite the other Death Valley-dwelling Tigers of LSU, I love their chances to finish the regular season undefeated.
A wise man would say wait on that result, but a bettor knows the value of Dabo Swinney’s Tigers is right now. This matchup couldn’t be more interesting with two Heisman hopefuls who have underachieved to this point under center.
The dig on Clemson in this NIL era has been the traditional mindset of Swinney. I get it, but he’s also gotta get with the times, and the word out of The Palmetto State is that he is on board now with the transfer portal.
With a senior quarterback, a soft conference, and a slight schedule, Clemson could very well finish the 2025 regular season undefeated.
Penn State: +400
This one was hard for me, only because of the absolutely dreadful record of the Nittany Lion head coach against not only top-five teams but also top-ten foes. This has held me back from taking them to win the national title. However, their regular season schedule isn't that tough with Oregon at home and every other game besides the trip to Columbus, as likely double-digit betting favorites.
On paper, minus the head coaching position, nobody is better than Penn State, not even the #1 Longhorns. It won't be easy, but at 4-1, I would jump on the Nittany Lions now before the betting value is vanquished.
Liberty: +600
I promise I'm not homesick, and I'm not even a huge Liberty fan, but I can't ignore the writing on the wall. With universities now able to legally pay their players to compete, watch out for this team. Can they compete with the big dogs? No, but they don't have to.
The Flames had an extraordinarily easy schedule last year, and it hasn't changed much for 2025, except they're a much stronger unit. If they can beat both state rivals, James Madison and Old Dominion, in back-to-back weeks in late September, there simply isn't another team on their schedule who's on their level.
