The Mets are plugging in Joey Lucchesi to fill a hole in their rotation. Hitting lefties is one of the few things that the Nationals have actually done well, hitting .300 as a team against southpaws. Washington is going with former Met Trevor Williams, who had a 5.06 ERA the last year he was a regular starter. He has only struck out 13 guys in 22 innings, so he isn’t fooling hitters. Take Houston over Philadelphia (8 p.m., Friday, April 28)

This is a rematch of last season’s World Series, and it will be on Apple TV+. (Which means you cannot watch it unless you have Apple TV). While Philadelphia will look to inflict some payback on Houston, there is a wide variance in the starting pitchers by results, not reputation. Aaron Nola will get the ball for the Phillies, and he’s off to a rough start at 1-2, with a 5.40 ERA and WHIP of 1.34. Nola’s command has been an issue in spotting his pitches, and he’s had a rough time against left hand batters, who are batting .300 against him with a .391 OBP. The Astros expected starter, Framber Valdez is 2-2 with a sharp 2.25 ERA and 1.16 WHIP and he’s dominated righthand batters in holding them to a .217 average. Even if Nola pitches better, there is nearly a two-run difference in bullpen ERAs, with the Phillies struggling and the Astros coming out on top.
