Free NBA Picks Tuesday, December 3 and Opening Line Report
I don't think we've ever seen this amount of scoring in recent memory in the NBA. The Clippers scored 150 on the Wizards, winning by just 25 on Sunday night. A total of 275 points were scored. It's getting crazy. I'm tempted to never take an under again! Luckily, oddsmakers adjust the numbers based on previous history.
Pistons @ Cavaliers (+1.5, 215.5)
On Sunday, the Pistons destroyed the Spurs, 132-98 at home. The Pistons
were likely frustrated about losing back-to-back games to the Hornets by
one possession. Christian Wood had a career high 28 points in the win,
shooting 11 of 14 from the field. This Pistons had an all-around
performance from their entire team. Cleveland is also coming off a big win,
defeating the Knicks 108-87 on Sunday on the road. The Cavs will get the
luxury of playing home against the Pistons, who are still struggling on the
road.
Key trends:
The Pistons are 1-8-1 (11.1%) on the road against the spread this season.
Early lean: Pistons, Under
Magic @ Wizards (PICK, 226.5)
I wonder if the Wizards know what defense is. The over/under for the Wizards' most recent game against the Clippers on Sunday was 239.5. The game totaled 275 points as the Clippers scored 150 points against the Wizards. The Wizards, who play very up-tempo, also scored 125 in the game. If you love offense, you'll love watching the Wizards. The Magic are coming off a solid performance against the Warriors, as Fournier led the Magic with 32 points. The Magic actually play defense, but the Wizards should have it their way at home . The Magic defeated the Wizards 125-121 in mid-November at home. The Wizards should return the favor in this one (at least against the spread.)
Key trends: The Wizards are 9-4 (69.2%) as an underdog (or PICK) against the spread this season.
Early lean: Wizards, OVER
Heat @ Raptors (TBD, TBD )
Here's a matchup between two of the top teams in the East! Pascal Siakam has become a bonafide all-star with the Raptors, while Jimmy Butler has taken over in Miami. The Heat have struggled against "better" teams this season, winning by a much smaller margin. Their task of beating the Raptors on the road will be very challenging. The Raptors gave the Jazz a beating at home on Sunday, winning by 20. The Raptors have been steaming as of late with a 7-game winning streak.
Key trends: The Raptors are 8-1 (88.9%) against the spread at home this season.
Early lean: Raptors, take the under no matter what!
Mavericks @ Pelicans (+3.5, 230.5)
Luka Doncic is averaging a triple-double for the Mavericks. He's been such a joy to watch for the Mavericks early in the season. But Doncic and the Mavericks will have an interesting test against the Pelicans on the road. The Pelicans have won only six games this season, but they've kept games close as of late. The Pelicans will look to regroup after two tough losses to the Thunder and will likely cover this one.
Key trends: The Pelicans are 4-1 (80%) as a home underdog this season against the spread.
Early lean: Pelicans, Under
Rockets @ Spurs (TBD, TBD)
The Spurs defeated the Clippers 107-97 at home and then got humiliated by the Pistons at home. Now they'll face the surging Rockets, who have won their last three games under leadership from James Harden. Harden has been a 40+ point machine, and the Rockets seem to have figured it all out. The Spurs have been dreadful at home this season as a whole. Give me the Rockets in this one.
Key trends: The Spurs are 2-9 (18.2%) against the spread this season at home.
Early lean: Rockets and Over if the number is lower than 220
Lakers @ Nuggets (-2.5, 210.5)
The Lakers took a small step backwards against the Mavericks on Sunday, losing a tight one, 114-110. Their 10-game winning streak was snapped as the Lakers took their third loss of the season behind Anthony Davis' 27-point, double-double performance. The Nuggets are also coming off a loss from Saturday against the Kings, on the road. Before that game, they were on a six-game winning streak. Both the Lakers and the Nuggets are ready to start a new streak. I'll take the points.
Key trends: The Nuggets are 2-4 (33.3%) vs teams that win 55 percent of their games against the spread.
Early lean: Lakers, Over
Trail Blazers @ Clippers (-8.5, 228.5 )
The new and improved Blazers have won their last three games behind the resurgence of Carmelo Anthony. But they might hit a bump in the road against the Clippers. The Clippers just finished off the Wizards by the score of 150-125 behind Kawhi Leonard's 34 points. Twelve different Clippers got in on the action. Leonard had to play only 26 minutes. He'll be well rested for this one. Take the Clippers.
Key trends: The Clippers are 7-4 (63.6%) as a home favorite against the spread this season.
Early lean:
Clippers, Over
