NFL Survivor Pool Picks Week 10: Advice and Predictions
Depending on what type of bettor you are – a favorite chaser or one who bets nothing but underdogs – Week 9 was either extremely profitable or a complete and unmitigated disaster. Several huge underdogs lost outright, including the Bills, Cowboys and Rams, and it was just one of those weeks where you have to shake your head, dust it off and try again. Here’s to hoping that Week 10 is a little bit more reasonable in terms of the results.
Here are my survivor plays ranked from strongest to weakest for Week 9 of the National Football League Season. The team I list first is my selection.
Doc’s Sports offers NFL expert picks for every game on our NFL predictions page.
Baltimore Ravens over Miami Dolphins: Both teams come into this game off of wins, and both teams looked not exactly the greatest in doing so. The Ravens needed overtime to take put away the Vikings, and the Dolphins got by a bottom-feeding Houston squad. I see Baltimore as the much better team, and they should be able to run the ball down the Dolphins’ throat in this one.
Indianapolis Colts over Jacksonville Jaguars: The Colts did what we expected them to do in Week 9, and that was lay a beating to the Jets. The Jaguars shocked the world as +14.5-point underdogs and beat the Bills on Sunday. Do I expect a similar result from the Jags? I won’t bank on it. Colts get the win in this one.
Cleveland Browns over New England Patriots: I told whoever would listen to me that the Browns were due for a breakout game against a bad Bengals defense. The Browns made me look like a genius, and I’m going right back to the well with them here against an overrated Patriots team.
Dallas Cowboys over Atlanta Falcons: I have no clue what happened to the Cowboys last week, but they stunk up the joint. The Falcons did well to beat the Saints, but I don’t see them winning back-to-back games on the road. Give me the Cowboys in a bounce-back spot.
Buffalo Bills over New York Jets: The Bills lost to the Jags and the Jets lost to the Colts. Only one of those losses was expected. I can’t see the Bills losing two straight games, especially with New England breathing down their neck in the AFC East division picture.
Tennessee Titans over New Orleans Saints: The Titans were awesome on Monday night as they went into LA, without Derrick Henry, and got a big win. They are now the No. 1 seed in the AFC and have very winnable games against the Saints, Texans and Patriots on deck before the bye week (Jaguars post-bye). I think they keep the good times rolling and beat the Saints here.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers over Washington Football Team: How do you go against the Bucs? They are rested off a bye. And even if Washington is off a bye as well, the Football Team has done nothing this season to show us they can at least hang with a good team.
Pittsburgh Steelers over Detroit Lions: The Lions are coming off a bye week, but I still don’t think they are good enough to beat the Steelers despite the Steelers needing every single call to go their way on Monday vs the Bears. The Steelers are showing an ability to run the ball with Harris, and I expect their defense to limit a very weak Lions’ offense.
Los Angeles Chargers over Minnesota Vikings: I liked the Chargers last week against the Eagles, and I like them again this week vs the Vikings. The Chargers are just a really good, well-rounded team, and I don’t see them losing this game on home soil. The Vikings continuously beat themselves, and I think the Chargers have the better roster and better coach to pull off the win.
Arizona Cardinals over Carolina Panthers: The Cardinals made everyone who faded them last week look silly. They not only beat the 49ers without Kyler Murray and DeAndre Hopkins, but they put up 31 points and won by 14. I fully expect Murray to play this week. And even if he doesn’t, Carolina is not a very good team and the Cardinals should have no issues winning this contest with Colt McCoy.
Green Bay Packers over Seattle Seahawks: It’ll be interesting to see if Aaron Rodgers gets the green light to suit up for the Packers. We know Russell Wilson will be under center for the Seahawks, but I believe the Packers are the better team and the line indicates that No. 12 will likely be under center for the Green and Yellow.
Denver Broncos over Philadelphia Eagles: The Broncos upset the Cowboys last week, while the Eagles fell to the Chargers. I’ve seen enough from both teams to know to trust the Broncos more so than the Eagles. Still, there are better games on the board to bet, but the Broncos’ defense is better than the Eagles, so we’ll roll with that.
Kansas City Chiefs over Las Vegas Raiders: I wrote last week that sooner or later the Raiders were going to beat themselves. They lost to the lowly Giants in a game they should have won. The Chiefs got an ugly win over the Packers, but I expect a much more focused performance here and a win to move them up the division standings.
Los Angeles Rams over San Francisco 49ers: I’m done with the Niners. They stink. The Rams were unprepared and laid an egg on Monday night vs the Titans. I’m going back to the well with the Rams as I trust them to bounce-back more than I do the Niners.
