NFL Survivor Pool Picks Week 9: Advice and Predictions
Let me start by saying that last week was about as bad a week as it gets for me in terms of the NFL. We could count the number of wins we had on one hand and because of that, we feel like we let you guys down and owe you an apology. So, I’m sorry. Let’s stay the course and be better than last week and learn from our mistakes so that we can make the next handful of weeks a very profitable one.
Here are my survivor plays ranked from strongest to weakest for Week 9 of the National Football League Season. The team I list first is my selection.
Doc’s Sports offers NFL expert picks for every game on our NFL predictions page.
Buffalo Bills over Jacksonville Jaguars: I can’t believe I actually thought the Jacksonville Jaguars were going to go on the road and win a football game. I mean, everything pointed in their favor except for the fact that they are the Jacksonville Jaguars. I won’t make that mistake this week. Bills win this one with ease.
Indianapolis Colts over New York Jets: If you didn’t know who Mike White was before last week, you probably still don’t. The Jets QB led them to a crazy win over the Bengals. And so now the question must be asked, what will he do for an encore? Well, the Colts lost a heartbreaker to the Titans last week but return home pissed off and looking good on offense. I’ll take the Colts here.
Miami Dolphins over Houston Texans: I may write this every time I see the Texans in a matchup. No bet against the Texans is a bad bet. The Dolphins aren’t very good either, but they have more talent than the Texans, and that counts for something. I think.
Dallas Cowboys over Denver Broncos: Kudos to Cooper Rush for his performance against the Vikings. While it won’t get him into the Hall of Fame, Rush outplayed Kirk Cousins (who makes $33 million per season) and got the Cowboys a much-needed win. They should be able to handle a week Denver squad at home in Week 9.
Cleveland Browns over Cincinnati Bengals: Call me crazy, but I’m going with the Browns in this one. I think they are due for a breakout game offensively, and the Bengals are starting to get into some really bad habits on defense. I think Baker outduels Burrow and the Browns get out of the AFC North cellar.
Baltimore Ravens over Minnesota Vikings: The Ravens come into this game fresh off a bye, while the Vikings just lost to a backup quarterback. I believe the Ravens are going to run the ball down the Vikings’ throats, and they win in a blowout.
New York Giants over Las Vegas Raiders: I really like what the Giants did on Monday vs the Chiefs. So much so that I am backing them to beat the Raiders – a team that’s sitting in first in the AFC West. Why? Well because the Raiders are the Raiders, and sooner or later the midseason slump is going to happen.
New Orleans Saints over Atlanta Falcons: I trusted Atlanta last week to beat a terrible Carolina squad. They let me down, and I’m never backing them again. The Saints played extremely well vs the Bucs and came away with the win. I’ll trust Trevor Simian in this spot over Matt Ryan (yikes).
Carolina Panthers over New England Patriots: Despite Carolina winning last week vs Atlanta, they are still a bad football team. So why am I taking them in this spot? Well, they return home with a little momentum, and I just don’t think the Patriots are that good of a football team.
Los Angeles Chargers over Philadelphia Eagles: The Chargers were caught napping in the first half of their game vs the Patriots. They came out of a bye week and were just not ready to play. I expect them to be ready to lay the wood to an Eagles team that just blew out the lowly Lions. Don’t be fooled on who the better team is just by last week’s results.
San Francisco 49ers over Arizona Cardinals: Something looked off with the Cardinals on Thursday night, and I’m banking it carries over into this division showdown. The Niners are still a team that can’t be fully trusted, but I think they will get the home win here on Sunday.
Kansas City Chiefs over Green Bay Packers: This game was supposed to be the game of the week but with news of Aaron Rodgers missing the game due to COVID, the Chiefs should stroll to a win here. No disrespect to Jordon Love or Blake Bortles, who was just signed by the Packers, but they don’t have what it takes to keep up with the Chiefs’ offense.
Los Angeles Rams over Tennessee Titans: The Titans just lost their bell cow running back and now have to throw the ball against a vaunted front seven and a pretty good defense overall. I’ll take the Rams at home to pick up their fifth straight win.
Pittsburgh Steelers over Chicago Bears: The Steelers moved to 4-3 on the season with a much-needed win vs a division foe. Now they host a prime-time game against a bad Bears team. Don’t look now, but the Steelers could be making moves up the standings over the next few weeks.
