Free NBA Picks Milwaukee Bucks: Season-Long Handicapping and Specialization 11/2/2022
Throughout the NBA season, I will be breaking down each weekday Milwaukee Bucks game and giving out my best bets for each contest. My knowledge of the Bucks, in addition to the rest of the league, will result in us churning a profit by the end of the season. While we may not make money every single night, through consistent, selective betting we will finish on top. Let’s dive in.
Doc’s Sports offers NBA picks for every game on our NBA predictions page.
The Bucks improved to 6-0 on Monday night, taking down the Pistons, 110-108. The teams are running it back as Detroit stays in Milwaukee to see if tonight’s matchup can go their way. The Bucks entered the 4th quarter with an 11-point lead and appeared to be en route to a comfortable win. However, the Pistons made it close, covering the 13-point spread with ease. The Bucks were led by 24 points from Brook Lopez, 25 from Jrue Holiday, and 31 from Giannis Antetokounmpo. The scoring for the Pistons was much more spread out, with six players finishing in double digits, including 27 from Cade Cunningham.
From a betting standpoint, we went 0-2. The Bucks looked like they would be able to cover the 13 points, but a late 4th quarter surge cost us that opportunity. Bojan Bogdanovic was a big part of that, putting up 9 fourth quarter points and hitting Over 17.5 points in the process.
For tonight's matchup, the spread has dropped down to 11.5 points, but is still heavily favoring the Bucks. There are two lines of thinking for tonight. Of course, the two teams are playing each other again, have the same amount of rest, and will be in the same arena. The Pistons kept it close the first time, why wouldn’t they be able to do so again? The other line of thought is the Bucks coaching staff will be displeased that the Bucks allowed the Pistons to make a game of it, despite leading by double digits for a majority of the contest. They will come out fired up, reacquire a double-digit lead, but this time will keep the Pistons at bay late in the contest.
The Pistons were able to be effective through their two-man game, between Bogdanovic and Cunningham. Both players eclipsed their point totals and were able to keep pace with the league's best team. Cunningham had a well-rounded performance, posting a 27/6/7 line, to go with a block and a steal, but it was not enough. The Pistons are simply not as talented as the Bucks, and I feel there will be no late game pushback tonight.
Holiday is playing the best basketball of his career and is one of the key reasons the Bucks have excelled to start the year, despite missing Khris Middleton. Holiday has always been a solid defender throughout his career, and that feature has earned him minutes in key situations. The development of his offensive game has taken off this year. The valuable minutes early in the career of the 32-year-old has seen him hit his stride in the twilight of his career. He finished the game with a 25/7/10 line on Monday and will be able to shred the Pistons again tonight. His passing has improved. And once Middleton is back, the Bucks backcourt will instantly become one of the top units in the league. The fact that Antetokounmpo still has guard help with Middleton out is the key reason the Bucks have remained perfect to start the year.
The first bet for tonight’s game is Milwaukee Bucks -11.5 on the spread. I know the Pistons gave the Bucks a run for their money at the end of Game 1, but I don’t expect a team with championship experience to make the same mistake tonight. The Bucks know that teams cannot be underestimated in the NBA and will be able to put the Pistons away for good, pushing their largest lead into the 20’s. Honestly, I’d be happy to lay the 13 points needed on Monday, but we are benefiting from a shorter spread here.
The second bet for tonight is betting on the Greek Freak himself, Antetokounmpo. Just when you thought Antetokounmpo couldn’t get any better, he did. The tear he is on to start the year is a thing of beauty, and we’re hopping on the train tonight, taking Over 32.5 Points tonight. There is a risk in this bet, as if the game turns into a real blowout, he may rest late in the game, but I expect 20+ first half points being enough to get it done. Antetokounmpo put up 31 points on Monday, but was in foul trouble, and only played 31 minutes. In tonight’s game, he should be able to play more minutes, get more shots, and cruise to another 35+ point night, en route to a big win in front of the Milwaukee faithful.
