Free NBA Picks Milwaukee Bucks: Season-Long Handicapping and Specialization 11/7/2022
This season. I will be breaking down each weekday Milwaukee Bucks game and giving out my best bet for the evening. This will include moneylines, spreads, totals, and player props. While these picks may not always favor the Bucks, we will be able to churn a consistent profit throughout the NBA season. The in-depth Bucks, and NBA knowledge in use, gives us an edge. And while every game might not be perfect, long term results are the goal.
Doc’s Sports offers NBA picks for every game on our NBA predictions page.
On Saturday night, the Bucks beat the Thunder 108-94, without their star player, Giannis Antetokounmpo, improving their record to 9-0 in the process. The Bucks were led by Brook Lopez, who put up 25 points and was a key part in the overall defensive gameplan the Bucks executed.
On Friday, the Bucks beat the Timberwolves by 13, easily cashing our mammoth 6-Unit bet on Milwaukee -3.5. Antetokounmpo and Jrue Holiday put up 26 and 29 points, respectively, but the most notable stat line was the 22 points Towns put up, cashing our Over 21.5 Points bet by the finest of margins. Coming off a 2-0 betting night bumps up the confidence, and let’s get into an intriguing matchup as the Bucks visit Atlanta tonight.
The Hawks have gotten off to a solid start to the season, posting a 6-3 record, good enough for joint 3rd place in the East. The Hawks went all in this season and finally got Trae Young a second star in the form of Dejounte Murray from the Spurs. Murray’s addition has taken some of the pressure off Young and has allowed the Hawks to have a much more fluid, balanced offensive attack. This was most recently demonstrated against the Pelicans on Saturday night, as the Hawks pulled out a gritty overtime win in front of the Atlanta faithful.
The Hawks have the talent and depth to compete with the Bucks. And once Bogan Bogdanovic comes back, the Hawks will be legitimate title threats. The matchups up and down the court are top quality. However, the Bucks are still the only undefeated team in the NBA and will be looking to keep up that streak for as long as possible.
At point guard, it’s Young against the rejuvenated Holiday. At 32 years old, Holiday is having the best season of his career and will hope to keep it up against Young. Young has the advantage in terms of offensive production, but Holiday has the tools needed to shut down star point guards. Honestly, despite the fact that Holiday has taken massive strides, Young should still be able to get the best of him tonight. Holiday is due for a down game. And in Atlanta, in what should be a close game, it seems as though tonight may be the night.
At center, Clint Capela welcomes Lopez into his paint, and the battle between two of the league's most entertaining big men is one that cannot be missed. Capela has developed a tight relationship with Young, and the inside passes will be able to get the best of the immobile Lopez. The shot blocking ability from Lopez will come in handy, but Capela has the agility to avoid the 7-footer, and get to the rim regardless.
Elsewhere, Antetokounmpo has a clear advantage over John Collins, De’Andre Hunter, or whoever else has the unfortunate task of trying to slow him down. At shooting guard, Murray will be able to feast against Grayson Allen, who is a step down from Murray.
Overall, The Hawks have the advantage in 4/5 positions on the court. However, unfortunately for them, Antetokounmpo is a big disadvantage that must be mitigated if they are to find success. The line is set at -3 for the Bucks, and the total is 226. I think it is fair for the Hawks to be underdogs, but I do believe they will pull out a victory at home to the Bucks. While calling for the Bucks first regular season loss is a tough choice to make, the Hawks have advantages up and down their roster. On the outside, Holiday will need to maintain his torrid pace to keep up with the Hawks’ star guards, and I just don’t expect that to happen. In my mind, there is no doubt the Bucks are the better team, but the way these two matchup, and the fact the Hawks are at home, makes me lean towards the Hawks.
The first bet of the night is the Atlanta Hawks ML at +130 for 2 Units. The value of the home team is immaculate. And while it will be a tight game throughout the contest, I expect the Hawks to prevail in the end. Murray and Young will be able to cook up clutch buckets. And despite a 35+ point performance from Antetokounmpo, the Bucks will lose their first game of the season.
The second bet of the night is Brook Lopez over 5.5 rebounds for 2 Units. The big man will have a size advantage over Capela and will be able to haul in the boards tonight. Antetokounmpo is always a threat of becoming a rebound vacuum. However, considering Lopez has eclipsed his total in the last 6 games Antetokounmpo participated in, I expect him to do so again tonight.
