NBA Props Picks: Expert Handicapping for Thursday 4/11/2024
Brace yourselves for another big night of NBA action with our carefully chosen prop bets. With a lot of basketball to digest and research to be had, we have your back. Our picks went 4-1 last week (33-26 overall) and we will try and improve on that mark this week. Thursday night will feature a five-game slate with Jayson Tatum, Zion Williamson, Steph Curry, and DeMar DeRozan all in action. Doc’s Sports will break down some of the best plays on the hardwood below.
Doc’s Sports offers NBA picks for every game on our NBA predictions page.
Jabari Smith Jr., Houston Rockets, OVER 1.5 threes made (-160)
For our first selection on Thursday night, we are going to target the three-point total of Smith Jr. against the Utah Jazz. He has eclipsed this total in five straight games and averages 2.8 threes made per game over that span. He has also hit this total against solid three-point defending teams over that span in the Miami Heat and Minnesota Timberwolves. Going back even further, he has hit this line in eight out of his last 10 games, and has a juicy matchup against a mediocre Jazz defense. Utah ranks 30th in the NBA in giving up threes. Smith Jr. has also hit this line in four out of his last six games against the Jazz. Look for him to connect on at least two threes on Thursday night.
Stephen Curry, Golden State Warriors, OVER 35.5 points + rebounds + assists (-110)
The Golden State Warriors are still battling for playoff seeding so expect a full dose of Steph Curry and company on Thursday night against the Portland Trail Blazers. Curry has been heating up and has passed this line in four out of his last five games. Over the last five contests he has averaged 37.4 points + rebounds + assists. He has hit this line in two out of the last four games against Portland and eight out of the last 10 overall. The Trail Blazers defense is suspect as they average in the middle of the pack in points allowed (18th), rebounds allowed (17th), and assists allowed (21st). Curry always rises to the occasion, especially when his team needs him, so I am expecting a big game tonight vs. Portland.
De’Aaron Fox, Sacramento Kings, UNDER 33.5 points + rebounds (-125)
We are going to try and ride the momentum with this selection as Fox has failed to reach this number in eight straight home games. The game should be high scoring so there is a chance he reaches this total just by putting the ball in the bucket, but the Pelicans give up the least number of rebounds to the point guard position in the NBA. New Orleans also gives up the 17th most points per game to the point guard position. Fox has also not cleared this number in seven out of his last eight games against the Pelicans. Take the under as history should repeat itself in Sacramento.
Jalen Brunson, New York Knicks, UNDER 6.5 assists (+105)
The New York Knicks travel to Boston in a game where they are favored by 2.5 points. The Knicks have a lot to play for down the stretch as they can finish anywhere from second in the Eastern Conference all the way down to sixth. The Celtics, on the other hand, have the No. 1 seed locked up and could rest their starters in the second half. I am still going to roll with the under at plus money for Brunson’s assists total. The New York guard has surpassed this total in five straight games and leads the Knicks with 6.7 APG. In his last four games against Boston, he has averaged 5.8 APG. I am going to take a chance on the under tonight.
Kris Murray, Portland Trail Blazers, OVER 4.5 rebounds (+105)
For our fifth and final selection, we will target the rebound total of Kris Murray and look for him to grab at least five boards against the Warriors. Murray has exceeded this line in eight out of his last 10 games overall. Golden State is pretty average when it comes to defending against rebounds as they rank 11th in the NBA, giving up close to 44 rebounds a game. The Warriors also rank 26th in the NBA in rebounds given up to the forward position, allowing over 11 boards per game. Murray averages 32.3 minutes per game and should have plenty of opportunities to reach this line on Thursday night.
