Sunday Night Football Predictions: New York Jets at Pittsburgh Steelers
The Pittsburgh Steelers quietly crushed the hopes of the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday with an emphatic 32-13 victory. That was huge for the team, as they have put up 20 or more points in only two other games this season. That doesn't mean they haven't been successful, though. They're currently 4-2 overall and against the spread.
Head coach Mike Tomlin will be a home underdog this week. You may have heard this trend before, because it's legit and hasn't shown any signs of letting up lately. Tomlin is 60% ATS as an underdog in his career and 68% as a home underdog, including the playoffs.
If anyone can drop enough dimes to buck a trend as strong as this, it's a quarterback like Aaron Rodgers.

New York Jets (-1.5) at Pittsburgh Steelers (+1.5)
Even though they lost a massive game at home to the division leader, it wasn’t an ugly performance by the New York Jets on Monday night. I believe the new offense looked notably better. It certainly helped to have starting right tackle Morgan Moses parting the blue sea for running back Bryce Hall, who easily had his best game of the season with 113 yards on just 18 carries.
This betting line opened with the Steelers as 1.5-point favorites. However, literally overnight, with the smell of defeat still lingering, the line has flipped with the Jets now (-1.5).
Moneyline
Jets: -120
Steelers: +100
If we decide we like the New York Jets, then by all means, we should bet their moneyline at (-120). It’s 10 cents more expensive and worth it.
Point Spread: 37.5
This line could be on the move, or maybe we see some back-and-forth betting on both sides of the key number of 37. It was 36.5 an hour ago.
Jets at Steelers Betting Analysis
If you want to bet the over at 36.5, I suggest you get after it quickly because there is massive news coming out of the Big Apple. Just moments ago, it was announced that former Green Bay Packer teammate of Rodgers, Davante Adams, will be reunited with his former quarterback through a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders.
I guess a few of the sportsbooks got the memo before the rest of us. That's why the lie moved, and it will move more. I was already leaning toward a pick here on the Jets, and it's hard not to get excited about this one.
Rodgers doesn’t need to build any chemistry with Adams. I’m curious to see his player props for this week.
Okay, the excitement has leveled off, and we're ready to continue, in cold blood, with our Jets vs Steelers predictions. Even without the addition of Adams, the sportsbooks still showed a ton of respect to this Jets team after a loss. This is for good reason. After losing their head coach, re-assigning the defensive coordinator to be the new coach, and then dealing with a brand new play-caller on offense, they still almost beat a first-place team. They had not one but two short field goal attempts clank off the goalpost. Thankfully, I was able to laugh when I heard the sound of the second one as my patience waned.
The Jets got more hate than they deserved last season, and it’s happening again this year. If you watched the offense on Monday, you would have to agree they made one right choice. Bringing in Adams appears to be another strong move.
Jets at Steelers Betting Pick
We thought there was a chance we might see Russell Wilson get the start at quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, but Justin Fields has been getting the job done…mostly. His performance against the Dallas Cowboys left a lot to be desired. If he doesn't find his first read on rhythm, the struggles come on quickly. If you're betting on Pittsburgh this week, put your faith in Mike Tomlin and the defense. Fields is a mess.
Most of the money has come in on New York (84%), and I want to follow. Take the Jets now on the moneyline at (-120), a price that will continue to rise throughout the week.
Pick: Jets Moneyline (-120)
