2025 Alabama Crimson Tide Basketball Predictions and Odds to Win National Championship

The Alabama Crimson Tide were one of the best regular season teams in the country last season. They went 11-2 during their nonconference schedule, and they picked up wins against #25 Illinois, #6 Houston, #20 North Carolina, in a true road game, Creighton, and Rutgers. At the end of the regular season, the Crimson Tide had a 24-7 record and finished 13-5 in the tough SEC. They picked up key conference wins against #8 Kentucky, #12 Oklahoma, #14 Mississippi State, #10 Texas A&M, #17 Kentucky, #1 Auburn, and #24 Mississippi State. All in all, they finished with a 10-6 record against Top 25 teams. The Crimson Tide beat Kentucky for the third time last season, in Alabama’s opening game in the SEC Tournament, but they were not destined for a deep run as they fell to Florida in the semifinals, losing by 22 points. Alabama did enough to earn a 2-Seed in the big tournament, and they dominated their way to the Elite Eight as they knocked off 15-Seed Robert Morris, 7-Seed Saint Mary’s, and 6-Seed BYU. Unfortunately, they fell to 1-Seed Duke as the Blue Devils defeated Alabama by 20 points in the Elite Eight.
Alabama led the country in scoring last season as they were the only team in college basketball that averaged over 90 PPG, finishing with 90.7 PPG. They shot 48.4% as a team while shooting 35.3% from deep. Their 12.4 offensive RPG ranked fourth in the conference as they did an incredible job creating second chances for their scorers. They did have the worst defense in the conference as they allowed 81.3 PPG, though their perimeter defense was quite impressive as they held opponents to just 30.4% from deep. Their +9.4 PPG differential ranked fifth in the conference while they ranked fourth with a +5.8% FG% differential, sixth with a +4.9% 3P% differential, third with a +5.4 RPG differential, and fourth with a +4.1 APG differential. Mark Sears led the team with 18.6 PPG while also leading the way with 5.1 APG. Latrell Wrightsell was an incredible compliment to Sears as he averaged 11.5 PPG and shot a team best 42.2% from beyond the arc while also shooting 85% from the charity stripe. Grant Nelson also averaged 11.5 PPG and led the team with 7.6 RPG. Aden Holloway (11.4 PPG), Labaron Philon Jr. (10.6 PPG), and Chris Youngblood (10.3 PPG) also averaged over double-digit PPG last season.

Key Additions/Losses
Sears has joined forces with the Milwaukee Bucks in the NBA. Youngblood is with the Oklahoma City Thunder, and Nelson is also in the professional ranks. Clifford Omoruyi ran out of eligibility, while Mouhamed Dioubate transferred to Kentucky to join with the rival Wildcats. There is also a long list of role players who have left the Crimson Tide. Derrion Reid transferred to Oklahoma, Jarin Stevenson transferred to UNC, and Naas Cunningham transferred to UNLV.
Nate Oats signed four, four-star freshmen in this year’s recruiting class. The incoming class is headlined by small forward London Jemison, and he is joined by guard Davion Hannah, fellow forward Amari Allen, and center Collins Onyejiaka. The transfer class also includes four new incoming players. Noah Williamson is coming to Alabama after averaging 17.6 PPG and averaging 7.6 RPG with Bucknell last season. He is joined by Keitenn Bristow who averaged 11.3 PPG, 4.3 RPG, and shot over 46% for Tarleton State last season. Jalil Bethea (7.1 PPG, Miami) and Taylor Bol Bowen (8.0 PPG, Florida State) are also joining the Crimson Tide this season.
X-Factors
The Schedule- The Crimson Tide may have one of the hardest schedules in the league this season. They open the season with North Dakota before playing four straight ranked teams. After their cupcake opener, they have a true road game to take on St. John’s before hosting top ranked Purdue. If playing two Top Five teams in back-to-back contests wasn’t difficult enough, they are also set to take on Illinois and Gonzaga right after. The nonconference schedule also includes #13 Arizona. All of that comes before the gauntlet SEC schedule that awaits them. There is a lot of talent on the roster this season, but the schedule is not going to make anything any easier.

2025 Alabama Crimson Tide Predictions
This Alabama team is being slept on. It may be due to the tough opening five games of the schedule, but Alabama is a serious championship threat. They have a lot of opportunities to win some big games and pad their resume. Williamson might just be the biggest newcomer to the conference this season and he is capable of being this year’s version of Sears. Teams like Tennessee and Ole Miss may be taking a step back in the conference, and with that Alabama is sure to step up and be a real threat to the likes of Florida and Texas A&M. At +600 there is some solid value in backing Alabama to win the conference, and at +3000 to win the national championship, they are worth some couch change at the very least.
