2025-26 Minnesota Timberwolves Predictions and Odds to Win NBA Finals

The Minnesota Timberwolves didn’t win a playoff series from 2005-2023 before ripping off two consecutive Western Conference Finals appearances. That kind of playoff success silenced the doubters for a year or two, but the bar has now been raised in Minnesota. The Timberwolves know they have what it takes to make a deep playoff run, and it is now time for the team to take it one step further this season. Continuity from last year will help Minnesota pick up where they left off, but will it be enough to navigate a competitive Western Conference?

Minnesota Timberwolves Offseason Recap
The Timberwolves had a relatively quiet offseason. Their starting five will be the same as last year, but they lost their 6th man of the year candidate, Nickeil Alexander-Walker. Alexander-Walker suited up for all 82 games last season and was consistently the first player head coach Chris Finch would turn to off the bench. He is still a consistent 3-and-D player and will undoubtedly thrive in Atlanta.
The Timberwolves failed to pick anyone up to replace Alexander-Walker’s role, as Minnesota clearly felt they had enough in-house talent to fill the void. Donte DiVincenzo will get more minutes as a result, and this may be the season Mike Conley moves to the bench. Minnesota still lacks a true playmaker outside of Conley, so the talented veteran will still get his fair share of minutes.
Minnesota Timberwolves Season Expectations
The Timberwolves have had a splendid balance of offense and defense over the last few seasons, and will be hoping to stay effective on both ends of the court. Anthony Edwards is the star in Minnesota, as he led the team in PPG by a wide margin (27.6), and finished 7th in MVP voting. He drained 4.1 threes per game last season, and his ability to create his own shot with an inch of space makes him borderline unguardable. If the opponent stays too close, Edwards will blow past and drive to the hoop. If the opponent stays back and is well-positioned, Edwards can score from anywhere inside 35 feet. The flashy prospect with highlight reel dunks has begun to turn into a legitimate scoring threat from all over the court.
There isn’t anyone as consistent as Edwards on the offensive end, but he will still need support if the Timberwolves are to reach the NBA Finals. DiVincenzo, Rudy Gobert, and Naz Reid are certainly capable of filling the hoop, but the Timberwolves' aspirations will come down to the play from Julius Randle.
Randle was a key piece in the Karl-Anthony Towns deal two years ago, but he hasn’t lived up to expectations in Minnesota. His high-usage, low-efficiency approach may have worked in the days of Kobe Bryant, but not when sharing the court with Edwards. His 18.7 PPG was his lowest since his time with the Lakers in 2018, and his 7.1 rebounds were the lowest in his entire career. While a dip in minutes can be blamed, the reality is that Randle isn’t playing his style of basketball in Minnesota. The textbook power forward needs to start working his way closer to the hoop rather than taking fadeaway midrange shots. He has the potential to average 20+ PPG again, and signed a three-year deal over the summer to prove he still has it.
Minnesota Timberwolves Schedule Breakdown
The Timberwolves have two road games to kick off the season, a winnable one in Portland before they head to Los Angeles to take on the Lakers. Two matchups against the Lakers in their first five games, with a game against Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets sandwiched between, will give the Timberwolves a nice test to start off the season. Minnesota will be spending both Christmas and New Year's on the road, as they play 10 of their 14 games between December 25th and January 20th away from home. Finally, the Timberwolves have no shortage of nationally televised games, as they have the 5th most in the league with 28 this season.
Minnesota Timberwolves Odds
The Timberwolves have a win total set at 49.5, which is the 4th highest in the Western Conference. They are heavily favored to make the playoffs as a result, with -700 odds to do so, and have +210 odds to participate in the play-in tournament. Despite the fact that the Timberwolves have found sustained playoff success, they are still +1000 underdogs to win the West, trailing the Thunder, Nuggets, Rockets, and Lakers.
In the NBA Cup, the Timberwolves find themselves in a group alongside the defending NBA champions. Beating out the OKC Thunder will not be easy, and the Timberwolves have +320 odds to top the group. If they can advance, Minnesota has +1900 odds to go on to win the NBA Cup.
2025-26 Minnesota Timberwolves Season Predictions and Best Bets
Minnesota has been doubted in previous seasons despite solid showings both in the regular season and playoffs. This year is no exception. The Timberwolves will be able to clear their 49.5 win total with a 54-28 record this year. Edwards is still only 23 years old and continues to grow into his superstar role in Minnesota. The continuity the Timberwolves have kept over the offseason will help this team gel and, once again, become a truly elite defensive unit. Rudy Gobert on defense with Edwards on offense is a formidable duo, while the Timberwolves have the depth they need to survive an 82-game season. Not only will we be taking over 49.5 wins, but the Timberwolves to win 55+ games at +290 is a great pick too. While Minnesota has proven itself in the playoffs, I don’t think this will be its year in a truly stacked Western Conference. There are too many other contenders to take Minnesota to win the West (+1000) or the NBA Finals (+1700). The Timberwolves will have another strong regular season, and that is the best way to bet on Minnesota this season.
Top Pick: Timberwolves Over 49.5 Regular Season Wins -110
Pick: Timberwolves 55+ Regular Season Wins +290
