2017 Buffalo Bills Season Win Total Picks
by Robert Ferringo - 8/4/2017
Those poor, poor Bills fans. Growing up in Upstate New York, I have and still do know dozens of long-suffering, delusion, masochistic Bills fans. And unlike fans of the Browns or Jets - all-time incompetent organizations that lose with gusto - the Bills and their fans have almost an ignorant innocence about their lost cause fandom.
2017 Cincinnati Bengals Season Win Total Picks
by Robert Ferringo - 8/2/2017
Following one of the most successful five-year runs in franchise history, the Bengals had the rug pulled out from under their feet last season as they stumbled to 6-9-1. That snapped a streak of five straight postseason appearances. And if there wasn't a target on 14-year head coach Marvin Lewis's back prior to last year, there has to be one on him heading into this campaign.
2017 Baltimore Ravens Season Win Total Picks
by Robert Ferringo - 8/2/2017
I was always a bit skeptical of John Harbaugh's actual coaching ability in his early seasons leading the Ravens. After all, he was gifted one of the most talented teams in the AFC and a locker room that was always stacked with excellent veteran leaders like Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, and Derrick Mason. Now, in his 10th season at the Ravens helm, Harbaugh faces what seems like a make-or-break year.
2017 Cleveland Browns Season Win Total Picks
by Robert Ferringo - 8/2/2017
I said prior to last season that it would be a miracle if the Browns won more than two games and that they had a better chance of going 0-16 than they did of beating their season win total. It was clear to me that the Browns would be "breathtakingly bad", and that was exactly the case as Cleveland fielded one of the worst teams of the past quarter century.
2017 Tennessee Titans Season Win Total Picks
by Robert Ferringo - 8/1/2017
My patience and belief in the Titans finally paid off last season. After predicting that Tennessee would be "much better than their expectations" they went out and proved me correct by winning nine games, nearly double the five victories they mustered in 2014 and 2015. Now the word is out on this team. And Tennessee enters the 2017 season as one of Everyone's Sleeper Teams. That is to say that the Titans have become the trendy, sexy pick by prognosticators and media bobbleheads to win the AFC South and make their first playoff appearance since 2008.
2017 Indianapolis Colts Season Win Total Picks
by Robert Ferringo - 8/1/2017
Wait, so Andrew Luck isn't the Next Tom Brady? Anyone that has ready or listened to my analysis over the last five years knows I think that Luck is one of the most overrated players in football. I still firmly believe that. But at this point even I have to admit that there is a lot of organizational instability unpinning the Colts' back-to-back 8-8 seasons.
2017 Houston Texans Season Win Total Picks
by Robert Ferringo - 7/27/2017
It is at the point now where my Texans preview is simply a song stuck on repeat. "The offense is a train wreck. The defense is stacked. The division sucks, so they have a chance to make the playoffs and get crushed. The end." At least now we know who the Texans are. Last year at this time I couldn't decide if their 2015 division title and postseason appearance were aberrations or if this team was any good. Now we know that the Texans are a low-budget version of Kansas City, a team good enough to win some games but a group with a ceiling of January fodder.
2017 Jacksonville Jaguars Season Win Total Picks
by Robert Ferringo - 7/27/2017
New season. New coach. New attitude at the top. But is this the same old joke of a Jaguars team? Jacksonville has been locked in an epic duel of incompetence with Cleveland over the past decade. The Jaguars have gone 22-74 straight up and 40-52 against the spread over the last six years, one of the worst marks in the league. However, each of the past three seasons plenty of poor souls have been suckered into tabbing the Jaguars as a "sleeper" team only to watch in horror as their season went in up flames by Week 5.
NFL Playoff Predictions: Props Odds for Teams to Make the Postseason
by Robert Ferringo - 7/13/2017
"Who is going to win the Super Bowl this year?" That's one of my least favorite questions. Whenever I inform people of my profession, invariably the first question they ask is about who will win the championship of whatever sport is currently in full swing. And since Football Is King, more times than not the question is about who will win the Super Bowl.
College Football Betting Lines: Early Spread Analysis and Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 6/20/2017
I know that June is a little too early to start thinking about college football picks against the spread. But college football championship odds were out within 24 hours of Clemson claiming the national title last January. And several sportsbooks currently have Week 1 college football betting lines posted.
Kentucky Derby Post Positions: Expert Analysis and Historical Data
by Robert Ferringo - 5/5/2017
The 143th running of the Kentucky Derby commences at 6:24 p.m. on Saturday, May 6 at Churchill Downs. The Run For The Roses marks the open of the Triple Crown racing season and is one of the most highly-anticipated sporting events of the spring. The post draw took place on Wednesday afternoon without the usual fanfare. Kentucky Derby organizers have, in the past, tried to "liven up" the post draw with gimmicks such as allowing owners to pick their own post or having the draw in primetime. But this year's draw was a quiet affair that took all of five minutes this morning.
2017 AL West Picks and Expert MLB Betting Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 3/31/2017
The American League West should again provide one of the most entertaining division races in all of baseball. With two-time defending West champions in Texas, potential powerhouses in Houston and Seattle, and under-the-radar spoilers in Los Angeles and Oakland, this division has a little bit of everything.
2017 NL West Picks and Expert MLB Betting Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 3/31/2017
The Dodgers are absolutely loaded and one of the favorites to win the World Series, finally. The Giants have to be respected for the fact that they've won three championships already this decade, and they are always a threat. Arizona has a pitching staff that, with a break or two, could be one of the best in the N.L. and Colorado has a lineup that is among the best in all of baseball. The Padres, well, they are pathetic. But the West has four teams that I expect to be competing for postseason opportunities.
2017 NL East Picks and Expert MLB Betting Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 3/30/2017
It's hard not to think of the National League East as a division full of losers. Sure, that's a bit misleading. The East has been one of the deepest and most consistently competitive divisions in baseball for the past two decades. But there is also no denying that the East has also been home to some of MLB's biggest postseason underachievers during that same stretch. From the old Braves teams that you just knew weren't going to win in October, to the loveable loser Mets, to the current Nationals, who are still waiting for their first postseason series win, the East has become a breeding ground for playoff futility.
2017 AL East Picks and Expert MLB Betting Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 3/29/2017
There are outstanding rivalries throughout every division in baseball. But the American League East still sets the standard for all-out war in terms of its division race. All five teams in the East are more than capable of putting together a playoff run, and there is absolutely zero margin for error with a group as stacked as this one. Throw in some good old-fashioned hatred and longstanding feuds, and this entire division is a powder keg.
2017 AL Central Picks and Expert MLB Betting Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 3/28/2017
Last fall Cleveland was one excruciating extra-inning loss in Game 7 away from its first World Series title in nearly 70 years. With a core of ascending talent locked up, a loaded young rotation, and a reasonable payroll situation on the heels of last year's success, the Indians look like a very stable franchise with a multiple-year window open for winning that first championship since 1948.
NCAA Tournament Bracket Predictions: South Region
by Robert Ferringo - 3/14/2017
Three of the greatest college basketball programs in history highlight the field in this year's South Region. North Carolina, Kentucky and UCLA have combined for a stunning 25 National Championships and are the top three seeds in this bracket. Not only do these programs have the pedigree of proven long-term winners. But they also feature star-studded rosters and at least five players that are likely to be among the Top 20 NBA draft picks this summer.
March Madness Bracket Predictions: Midwest Region
by Robert Ferringo - 3/14/2017
The Midwest Region of the NCAA Tournament is absolutely stacked! Of the 16 teams in this quadrant we have the Big 12 regular-season and tournament champions, the Big Ten regular-season and tournament champions, the Pac-12 regular-season champion, the second-best team in the ACC's regular season, and the Big East runner-up. And that is to say nothing of the some of the best mid-major teams in the country with Nevada, Rhode Island and Vermont all ready to spring an upset.
March Madness Bracket Predictions: West Region
by Robert Ferringo - 3/14/2017
It seems like every year around this time I am caught making an argument for why people need to stop underrated teams from out West. Whether it is a Pac-12 powerhouse that I felt has been underseeded or some Mountain West mid-major that I'm making an upset case for, I find myself constantly defending teams from the Left Coast.
NCAA Tournament Bracket Predictions: East Region
by Robert Ferringo - 3/14/2017
Villanova enters the NCAA Tournament as the defending National Champion and the No. 1 ranked team in the country. The Wildcats are 31-3 and the Big East regular-season and tournament champions. They were posted by the selection committee as the No. 1 overall seed in the entire tournament.
