The Dallas Mavericks proved they could go toe to toe with the Utah Jazz without their best player, who's currently out of action dealing with an injury. The Mavericks split the first two games of this playoff series against the Jazz, and they very easily could have won both of those contests. The series now shifts to Utah here for game three action on Thursday night. The Jazz came limping into the playoffs, going just 4-7 their last 11 games of the regular season, and this despite the fact Utah was favored to win 9 of those 11 contests. A closer look at this stretch of play makes the Jazz look even worse as two of those wins came over two of the worst teams in the NBA (Oklahoma City and Portland) and the other two were against a LA Lakers team that had mailed things in and were also without LeBron and the last of the four victories were against Memphis and the Grizzlies played that game minus their best player (Morant). It's been the complete opposite with the Mavericks as they came into the post-season playing some of their best basketball this season, winners of 9 of their last 11 games. We like Seattle here as Taylor Hearn is scheduled to start for Texas and he is just getting his feet wet as a starter. He likely will not go five innings here and the Rangers have the highest bullpen ERA in MLB. Corbin has not been exactly what the Nationals thought they were going to get when they signed him to a big free agent deal a couple of years ago. Alex Wood is not a flashy pitcher, but he has a quirky delivery and is able to get guys out.
