Take Penn State (+8) over Wisconsin (6 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 5)

It was another blowout free play win last week with Northern Iowa taking out Illinois State. We are now 17-5 with our last 22 weekly newsletter free plays, and I feel good about another win here. I’ll go with the underdog in this matchup. Penn State stinks. But they definitely play hard. They have close losses to good teams like Purdue, Ohio State, Miami and LSU, as well as wins over Indiana and Iowa. Wisconsin isn’t great in this role of medium-range favorite. And I really don’t see what their motivation is going to be in this game. Will they win it? Yeah. But will this game be a blowout? I don’t think so. Wisconsin is 10-2 in its last 12 games. Of those 10 wins, exactly zero have come by more than 10 points and only one has come by more than nine points. The Badgers don’t really blow people out. That’s not to say that they can’t – it’s just not that common. Wisconsin is coming off a big game at Illinois on Wednesday and they have a date with Michigan State in the Izzone on Tuesday. This nondescript home game with the scrappy Nittany Lions falls smack in the middle. I see a 4-6-point win for the home team, but Penn State should keep it competitive. Chalk up another blowout for the Bulldogs. Gonzaga has won 10 straight, and these games are not even close. They have won their six WCC games by an average of 31 points per game. That includes a 26-point beat down of BYU back on Jan. 13. Gonzaga has 17 wins on the season, and only one of them has come by fewer than 12 points. None of their wins have been by less than nine points. BYU had a terrible weekend last week, losing at Santa Clara and at Pacific. They are just 3-3 SU in their last six games, and this team doesn’t look good enough to challenge the Bulldogs here. BYU might keep it close for a half, but this should be yet another blowout.
