Take ‘Over’ 137.5 Michigan State vs. Kansas State (6:30 p.m., Thursday, March 23)

This is the first game of the Sweet 16. I expect both teams to come out a little nervous, and I am looking for a lower-scoring first half. Once the game picks up, though, I think that both teams will get to scoring. Michigan State scored 69 points against a very good Marquette defense in the second round. The New Jersey Devils are neck and neck with Carolina for the top spot in the Metropolitan Division, and all of a sudden, like a horse race, here comes the New York Rangers off the pace. New Jersey actually has a better road record than home record (19-16 SU), but I see them coming up big Saturday. Ottawa is fighting to reach the last wild card spot in the East, but they have fallen off in the chase by losing five of six (as of 3/21). The Senators’ defense has been the culprit, allowing more than four goals a game in that span. With Ottawa clinging to playoff hopes, and New Jersey still positioned to win the Metro, the Devils win on home ice.
