College Basketball Prediction From Nick Menken:

Take Duke over Virginia (Noon, Saturday, Feb. 28)

This is a massive ACC showdown on Saturday morning as Duke Blue Devils host the Virginia Cavaliers in Cameron Indoor Stadium. Both teams come in ranked, with Duke sitting at No. 1 in the country and Virginia checking in at No. 11. On paper it looks like a tight matchup, but the setting and timing heavily favor Duke. Virginia hasn’t played in Cameron with this version of Duke, and that environment is going to be a shock: especially for an early tip with the crowd fully behind the top team in the nation. Duke has been dominant at home all season, and they’ve consistently covered numbers in this building. Their pace, athleticism, and shot making are simply on another level when they’re playing in Durham. Virginia also must deal with the short turnaround after playing NC State earlier in the week, which could show up in their legs against a Duke team that thrives on pressure and tempo. While both teams are riding winning streaks, this feels like a spot where Duke separates early and never lets Virginia settle in. I expect Duke to control this game from start to finish and pull away in the second half. Lay the points with Duke at home this has all the makings of a statement win for the Blue Devils. Take West Virginia (+4.5) over BYU (5:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 28)

West Virginia has been a really hard-luck team over the past week, losing three straight games by six points or fewer or in OT. The Mountaineers sprung an upset at home over Kansas and they only lost to Texas Tech at home by seven in a game where WVU shot 2-for-22 from 3-point range. BYU is coming off a roller coaster week, dealing with the Richie Saunders injury, upsetting Iowa State, and then the UCF game Tuesday. This is a tough road trip for a Cougars group that only has three true road wins on the season and is not used to making this trip to Morgantown.
