Memorial Day has come and gone. I hope everyone's Summer got off to a great start. The Memorial, however, goes down this week at the majestic Muirfield Village. We almost picked up a second win in the past three weeks with Bryson DeChambeau. The man from Modesto had the lead on Saturday. However, after losing three strokes over two holes, it was all the World #1 needed to take a comfortable lead into his Sunday cruise to the clubhouse. Scottie Scheffler proved to us all, once again, why he is the undisputed #1 golfer in the world. I was one of those guys saying that Rory was catching up with him, but the more we see from Scheffler, the more the truth becomes undeniable.

We are barely a month removed from the conclusion of The Masters, where we saw one of the game’s greats, Rory McIlroy, don his first Green Jacket. This win completed golf’s Grand Slam, as McIlroy has hoisted the trophy at all four major events. The Northern Islander is properly poised to add to the list of his majors this week as the PGA Championship will be held in one of my favorite cities, charming Charlotte, North Carolina.

I hope you got a piece of that Scottie Scheffler ravioli last week. The world #1 went wire-to-wire for the win at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson last week in his hometown of Dallas, Texas. It only paid at (+275), but a win is a win, and I'm sure Scheffler is even happier to get his first W of 2025. Last week, the "Scheff" as we should now call him for his prowess in the kitchen, was, of course, the betting favorite at under 3-1 odds. Jordan Spieth was the next golfer down the betting board at 16-1!

This tournament has been held at multiple courses over the years, but the previous four have all been held down in the Dallas area, just outside of Plano in McKinney, Texas, at the TPC Craig Ranch course.

As we finally sweat out our Super Bowl hangovers, the PGA Tour wraps up its West Coast Swing with the second trip in just three weeks to Torrey Pines for the Tiger Woods-sponsored Genesis Invitational. Harris English, the winner of this year’s Farmers Insurance Open, where they played on the North and South Courses at Torrey Pines, will be in the field. He’s also the defending champion of this tournament, the Genesis Invitational.

The first PGA Tour event of 2025, the Sentry Tournament of Champions in Maui, is in the books. Japan's Hideki Matsuyama broke the PGA Tour record for the lowest score in a 72-hole tournament with his tremendous 35 under-par performance at Kapalua. He broke Cameron Smith’s record of -34. Granted, that was just three years ago on the same course.

I'd like to know if the PGA will play the opening round of the Tournament of Champions on New Year's Day in 2026. However, many may be surprised to see golf on their television screens on January 2. The FedEx Cup Fall wastes no time this week as we travel from Las Vegas all the way to Tokyo Bay. Yes, on the other side of the planet in Narashino, Japan, for the ZOZO Championship. There aren't just Asian golfers participating, either. Americans Xander Shauffele and Justin Thomas are in the field. California's Collin Morikawa is the defending champion at the ZOZO Championship. Japan's own and former winner here, Hideki Matsuyama, is playing his best golf of 2024 and will be in the field.

The first three tournaments of the FedEx Cup Fall didn't disappoint. I understand a big reason for that is the low expectations. There's a priceless life lesson for you, and we just got started. Ditch the expectations whenever possible. The previous three and subsequent five PGA Tour events make up the FedEx Cup Fall, and it's essentially an opportunity for the Tour to shift to a near complete year-round schedule. The biggest opportunities, however, will be for the golfers in the respective fields.

Hey, the FedEx Cup Fall is off to a warm start with our cashing of Lucas Glover to finish inside the top 20 at (+275). He finished one stroke back over 72 holes and eventually tied for 3rd as Kevin Yu defeated Beau Hossler in a playoff. This week, we make our way north of Las Vegas to the charming town of St. George, Utah. More often than not, serving as a gateway to Zion and other nearby National Parks, St. George has become a golfing haven. The Black Desert Championship lives up to its name, as you can see the aged volcanic soot-stained mountains in the distance from all over the course.
