PGA Picks: AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Predictions and Golf Odds
by Doug Upstone - 2/1/2022
The Pebble Beach Pro-Am no longer draws the biggest names in the PGA Tour. Most tour pros today don’t like to play with amateurss and they are not fans of playing multiple courses over four days. Frankly, their loss because to us golf fans, Spyglass Hill and Pebble Beach are wonderful golf courses that are appreciated for their beauty and old-time charm.
PGA Picks: The Farmers Insurance Open Golf Odds and Expert Betting Predictions
by Doug Upstone - 1/25/2022
The PGA Tour moves from the California desert to the thicker air of the Pacific Ocean just north of San Diego for this week’s tour stop. The world’s No. 1 player, Jon Rahm, is scheduled to appear, and he had plenty to say after four days in the LaQuinta area. Rahm was the tournament favorite for that event and finished T-14th at -14 and had thought this. “Piece of s--- f---ing set-up,” the Spaniard was picked up as saying as he walked off one green. “This is a putting contest week.”
PGA Picks: The American Express Golf Odds and Expert Betting Predictions
by Doug Upstone - 1/18/2022
The PGA Tour returns to the mainland after two weeks in Hawaii. This used to be the old Bob Hope Open before corporate sponsorships, but some of the past roots remain in place. After a year off with virus concerns, this tourney will have a full 156 player field, and everyone will have an amateur partner. That is part of the charm of these early year events, and each pair will play on all three courses Thursday through Saturday before the field is cut to 65 for Sunday.
PGA Picks: Sony Open Golf Predictions with Betting Odds
by Doug Upstone - 1/11/2022
This is the first full-field golf event of 2022, with the anticipated number of players at 144. Kevin Na is the defending champion, and he was -21 for his four days of work a year ago. With the PGA Tour wanting to make their players look like superstars, a -20 is the median winning score since 2013 at Waialae C.C. The complete tournament can be seen on the Golf Channel Thursday through Sunday
PGA Picks: Tour Championship Golf Odds and Expert Betting Predictions
by Doug Upstone - 8/31/2021
We have reached the end of the road for this PGA Tour season with the Tour Championship. As per usual, this event is being held at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta. The field is set at 30, and it is a weighted or staggered format, based on the players' current position in the FedExCup race. Here are the standings and where every golfer will start the tournament.
PGA Picks: 2021 BMW Championship Predictions and Golf Odds
by Doug Upstone - 8/24/2021
It took an extra day due to Hurricane Henri, but the playoff field has been cut to 70 golfers, and it won’t even be that many with Patrick Reed catching double pneumonia. This is the final stop before the Tour Championship next week, and a lot will be riding on the outcome, because the payouts next week, just for making the field, are outrageous.
PGA Picks: Wyndham Championship Predictions with Golf Odds
by Doug Upstone - 8/10/2021
With this being the last tournament of the regular season, a large chunk of the field of 156 golfers is attempting to play their way into the FedExCup Playoffs and lock down some status for the 2021-22 campaign. This might not be the most memorable field of the year. However, for many, the pressure will be intense trying to secure a spot in the playoffs which start next week.
PGA Picks: WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational Predictions with Betting Odds
by Doug Upstone - 8/3/2021
Golf returns to the U.S. after Xander Schauffele picked up the gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics. There are actually two tournaments this week; the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational and the Barracuda Championship. The St. Jude’s is invite-only, and other PGA professionals are heading to Truckee, CA for the more minor event.
3M Open Golf Predictions with Odds and Expert Betting Picks
by Doug Upstone - 7/21/2021
This week is a little tricky for those who played in the British Open because you never know what their motivation might be the following week. If a golfer needs the points this week or over the next few weeks, you would think they would be mentally sharp. However, just like a team in another sport that “has to win” to reach the playoffs, but comes up flat for reasons unknown, the same can happen to a top-flight golf professional.
PGA Picks: Rocket Mortgage Classic Predictions and Betting Odds
by Doug Upstone - 6/29/2021
This tourney is held at the Detroit Golf Club. And as long as it holds its spot in the rotation of two weeks before the British Open, it will have an opportunity to attract those players that want one more tune-up before what is now the last major or those trying to secure a spot in what is the PGA Tour playoffs in August, with FedEx Cup points.
PGA Picks: Palmetto Championship at Congaree Predictions and Betting Odds
by Doug Upstone - 6/8/2021
Even if you are a golf fan and bettor, you are probably asking what the Palmetto Championship is and where the heck Congaree is. This tournament is being held on a golf course in Ridgeland, SC, and they are subbing for the Canadien Open, who for a second straight year had to pull out with virus concerns.
PGA Picks: Wells Fargo Championship Predictions and Betting Odds
by Doug Upstone - 5/4/2021
Like in sports and life, sometimes it is better to be lucky than good. That’s what seems to have happened to the Well Fargo Championship being held in Charlotte at the Quail Hollow Club. With the moving of the PGA Championship from August to May, this becomes an ideal spot to attract top golfers who want one last tune-up for a major coming off The Masters. That makes this a terrific landing spot for the Wells Fargo organizers.
2021 Valspar Championship Predictions with Odds and Expert Betting Picks
by Doug Upstone - 4/27/2021
This course has hosted this championship since the inaugural 2000 edition. The scorecard reads 7,340 yards while playing as a par-71 layout. There are the normal four par-5s. However, there are five par-3’s, and all of them are at least 195 yards in length. If the wind is up, this gets tricky, for this tight tree-lined layout.
2021 Masters Prop Bets: Expert Betting Picks and Analysis
by Chris Vasile - 4/6/2021
In the world we live in today, it seems that everything has to happen as quickly as possible for people to be content. They want faster Internet, faster commutes to work, faster cars, faster ways to consume content, and faster ways to cash the bets they make. If you are one of those people who wants everything to be done fast, I don’t believe golf is the sport for you to be wagering on. Unless of course, you are open to the idea of dabbling on some prop bets for the upcoming Masters tournament.
2021 Masters Betting Trends and Handicapping Advice
by Chris Vasile - 4/6/2021
We are less than one week away from the 2021 Masters golf tournament, and to say I am excited would be an understatement. To me, the Masters is synonymous with the beginning of spring as it takes place on the first weekend in April and everything just seems right in the world for the few days we get to watch the world’s best golfers take on the beautiful backdrop that is Augusta National. This year’s tournament has a bit of a different buzz surrounding it as a select number of patrons will be in attendance to cheer on their favorite golfers.
PGA Picks: US Open Championship Odds and Expert Betting Predictions
by Doug Upstone - 9/15/2020
On the official golf 2020-21 calendar that started last week, this will be the first of two US Opens. Thankfully, they will have separate years, one in the current year and another in 2021. Because of the switch in time from mid-June to mid-September, the amount of available sunlight for Thursday and Friday, in particular, is affecting the size of the field, which is reduced to 144 golfers teeing it up (lowest since 1932) from the more traditional 156. That will mean the Top 60 scores and ties will advance to the weekend to win this prestigious event.
PGA Picks: BMW Championship Odds and Expert Betting Predictions
by Doug Upstone - 8/25/2020
As opposed to last weekend, we should have a fairer test of golf after last week’s ridiculous course set up where Dustin Johnson was -30 under par. This week we have only 70 golfers that qualified for the BMW Championship, and they will play all four rounds, with the Top 30 moving ahead to next week to Atlanta for the Tour Championship.
PGA Picks: Northern Trust Open Odds and Expert Betting Predictions
by Doug Upstone - 8/18/2020
It must be August 2020, as the PGA Tour FedExCup Playoffs are set to kick off this week, joining the NBA and NHL postseasons. The field is set at 125 qualifiers. And if somebody drops out, there are no replacements as we see in regular Tour events. For those that made this field, the money is massive and the stakes are enormous. The purses this week and next are 9.5 million, and the Top 70 in FEC points head to Chicago next week.
PGA Picks: Wyndham Championship Odds and Expert Betting Predictions
by Doug Upstone - 8/11/2020
After a cool, damp and sometimes windy PGA Championship on the West Coast, the final stop of the regular season goes all the way across the country to Greensboro, NC, for Wyndham Championship. This is a very important tournament for players right along the cut line. To advance to next week’s tourney, you have to finish in the Top 125 of the FedEx Cup standings. Those that are 126 or lower have to up their game this week to cross into the upper portion of the standings, and those from about 110 to 125 are trying to put together four solid rounds and stay exactly where they are.
2020 PGA Championship Predictions with Odds and Expert Betting Picks
by Doug Upstone - 8/4/2020
In a year where few things have made sense, it fits perfectly that the first major golf championship happens in August, and it’s the PGA Championship. Trying to make sense of almost anything is an exercise in futility. What doesn’t have to be futile is figuring out how to cash on this golf event. As compared to many aspects in our current life, in which we have little or no relatable information, we have a large volume of info to work through on all the golfers in this tournament and golf odds to study.
