Expert MLB Handicapping Roundup for 5/1/2024
by Ryan Cobbett - 5/1/2024
We are coming off another incredible night of baseball that saw four of the five best teams in the league take a loss and one that saw the Athletics extend their win streak all the way to three games. The Braves, Dodgers, Yankees, and Guardians combined to go 0-4 last night but had a combined -5 run differential in those games. Jose Abreu was sent back to Spring Training facilities, and Mike Trout, after an MVP caliber start, is now set to have knee surgery and miss ‘extended time.’

What better time to check out some betting trends than before a weekend series? The two best teams in baseball will square off in Atlanta as the Braves host the Guardians, but this is not the only top interleague matchup as the New York Yankees will travel to Milwaukee to take on the Brewers. Two of the MLB’s ERA leaders will face off tonight as Shota Imanaga (0.84 ERA) will share the mound with Kutter Crawford (0.66 ERA).

Expert MLB Handicapping Roundup for 4/23/2024
by Ryan Cobbett - 4/23/2024
As we near the end of the first full month of baseball, there are already many storylines to follow as the 2024 campaign continues to unfold. The Cleveland Guardians are sitting atop the league standings with a 16-6 record and are followed by the Atlanta Braves (15-6) and Baltimore Orioles (15-7). Marcell Ozuna has continued his torrid pace to start the year and leads the MLB in homeruns and RBIs, while Shohei Ohtani leads the league with a .368 AVG and 35 hits. The Boston Red Sox pitching staff have been the best to date as they have a 2.52 ERA and are the only team to not allow more than 60 runs.
Hot and Cold MLB Betting Teams ATS and Over Under 4/18/2024
by Ryan Cobbett - 4/18/2024
As teams near the 20-game mark of the season, we have been given a good enough sample size to see how teams are performing relative to game totals and covers. Though it is still April, getting on trends early in the season can be a nice compliment to your bank account if done correctly. The Chicago Cubs lead the league in covers, going 13-5 against the spread, while no team has been worse than the Miami Marlins, who have covered just six times in 19 games.
MLB Props Picks: Expert Handicapping for Wednesday 4/17/2024
by Matt Zitt - 4/17/2024
It is a full slate of games in Major League Baseball on Wednesday and there are plenty of great props to choose from. The Dodgers and Yankees have good matchups against mediocre pitching, Mike Trout and the Angels are enjoying the Florida weather against the Tampa Bay Rays, and the red-hot Cleveland Guardians will be playing in the historic Fenway Park.
Expert MLB Handicapping Roundup for 4/15/2024
by Ryan Cobbett - 4/15/2024
As we enter the third week of the MLB season, there is plenty to discuss. There have been a multitude of pitching injuries that have really changed the outlook for their clubs. Shane Bieber, Spencer Strider, and Eury Perez headline a list of top tier pitchers that will miss the remainder of the season, severely altering their club’s potential on the campaign.

It is a full slate of games in Major League Baseball on Friday night, and there are plenty of great props to choose from. The Yankees and Guardians are off to stellar starts on the young 2024 season, and there are a pair of NL and AL West divisional matchups that could have implications down the road. The Baltimore Orioles called up their No. 1 prospect in Jackson Holliday, and Ohtani is starting to do Ohtani things in LA.
Expert MLB Handicapping Roundup + Saturday Free Pick for 4/6/2024
by Ryan Cobbett - 4/5/2024
We are now a week into the new MLB season and at the start of our 2024 Friday Roundup series. Each week we will take a deep dive into league trends and see where the money is being made or lost. The opening week has already been full of chaos, as Rhys Hoskins has become public enemy #1 in New York and the Pirates and Tigers are a combined 11-2 to start the year. No one seems to be able to get Mookie Betts out, while Mike Trout has returned to form and has three homeruns already. Without further ado, let’s get into some numbers.
MLB Props Picks: Expert Handicapping for Thursday 3/28/2024
by Matt Zitt - 3/28/2024
America’s favorite pastime is back! Even though the official start of the MLB season occurred last week with a two-game series in South Korea between the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres, Thursday has that Opening Day feel with all 30 squads in action. The beginning of the season can always be tricky with strict pitch counts, weather concerns, and timing for hitters, but we have a solid grasp on which teams will be the bottom-feeders and which players are hot and cold going from Spring Training to the regular season.
MLB Matchup Best Bets for Season Series Winners
by Mike Allen - 3/28/2024
Finally, baseball is back! Spring Training is cool and all. However, for the fans it doesn’t hold a lot of significance. I suppose if you are a legit superfan and have the time, you could’ve been glued to the tube for the majority of March. We have almost exhausted ourselves with various MLB futures betting odds and predictions, to this point. From over/unders for team wins to yes or no to make the playoffs, we have covered it all.
MLB Season Start Special Props Odds and Expert Betting Predictions
by Mike Allen - 3/15/2024
The start of the 2024 MLB regular season is approaching rapidly. Before Opening Day, we get to take some money, not a lot, and have fun with it. Even though we do have Spring Training as a guide, it is still difficult to predict how an MLB team will start the season. There are 162 games, of course, and rarely do we see wire-to-wire division winners.
Season Total Props and Predictions for Ronald Acuna and Michael Harris of the Atlanta Braves
by Mike Allen - 3/15/2024
I will spare you my sob story as an Atlanta Braves fan, because you already know it. This team has fallen and failed about as fast as possible in the postseason over the past two years. The regular season, however, was a lot of fun. If I wasn't watching Ronald Acuna become the first player to hit 40 home runs and steal 70 bases in a season, I was squinting upward at what I think is Michael Harris's ceiling, but I don't know.
Shohei Ohtani Predictions for 2024: Season Stats Props Odds
by Mike Allen - 3/14/2024
We are now only a couple of weeks away from MLB Opening Day 2024. There are new landing spots for several of baseball's biggest stars, but none have been nearly as noteworthy as the Los Angeles Dodgers' signing of Shohei Ohtani. I imagine the move was pretty seamless for the Japanese superstar, as the drive up the 5 from Orange County to Dodgers Stadium is only 30 miles. The two-way player signed the largest contract in the history of sports, $700 million for 10 years.
Season Total Props and Predictions for Aaron Judge and Juan Soto of the New York Yankees
by Mike Allen - 3/14/2024
The lineup for the New York Yankees is bringing back memories of the 1961 team with Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, and Roger Maris. I'm not that old, but I can't tell you how many times I have heard my dad rattle off every player and stat line from that era. I was surprised but rooted hard for Aaron Judge to break Roger Maris’s (Let’s call it a team record) of 61 home runs. He said he didn’t think Judge was on any performance enhancers because he may be the best athletic specimen to ever hit in the Majors.
2024 MLB Best Bets for Season Leaders Props
by Mike Allen - 3/5/2024
The 2024 MLB regular season is rapidly approaching. We used to wait until April for Opening Day, but Major League Baseball has moved it up to the March 28. That is just three weeks from the time of this writing. So, of course, we already know who will finish the regular season as the home run leader or stolen base leader. I wish we did know, but one advantage of picking and betting on a baseball future this early is that these might be the best odds we see all year.
MLB Playoff Teams for 2024: Yes and No Props Predictions
by Mike Allen - 3/5/2024
As we progress through MLB’s 2024 Spring Training, it’s only natural we go right ahead with predicting which teams will make the postseason and those who we think will fall a bit short. There were some surprises last year, including the Florida Marlins somehow making it in and the high-expectation San Diego Padres staying home in October.
MLB Betting Advice: Pitchers to Avoid in 2024
by Joey House - 2/29/2024
Knowing which pitchers are unlikely to duplicate their previous success can be just as profitable as finding the hidden gems. As baseball strategies have evolved, starting pitchers are going shorter and shorter into games, which elevates the need to have a good grasp of a team's bullpen capabilities.
2024 Oakland Athletics Predictions with World Series Odds and Season Win Total Picks
by Ryan Cobbett - 2/28/2024
Oakland participated in one of the worst seasons in the history of the MLB in 2023. The team won just 50 games on their way to a 50-112 record while averaging an attendance of just over 10,000. The front office is in shambles with no clear plans, not even for relocating. The roster, though young, has no star power and is well on their way to another disappointing showing. And if the 62 games below .500 wasn’t enough to tell you how bad this team was, they actually performed four games better than their expected record of 46-116. There was a six-game gap between the basement dwellers and the 56-win Kansas City Royals.
Expert MLB Handicapping for Starting Pitchers and Bounce Back Seasons
by Joey House - 2/26/2024
One of the more intriguing endeavors for analysts is trying to forecast which pitchers struggled the year before but are poised for a bounce-back season. There can be great value found early in the season for those of you who did your due diligence in the cold, winter months. However, in case you neglected to sift through the hundreds of players and their statistics, Doc's has you covered, as our handicappers and research department have been doing all of that work, and more.
