Way Too Early 2024 NFL Draft Prop Bet Predictions
The 2024 NFL Draft is still many months away. I am in no hurry to get there, though. Football, whether it's college or pro, only lasts five months at best. I don't want to just skip over an entire season. Do you?
I didn't think so. There are just too many Saturday tailgates at your alma mater. So many Sunday Fundays are on the horizon. Over the next six months, we will learn more about which players will be selected at the top of the 2024 NFL Draft.
The name that is dominates the conversation at the moment is USC's Caleb Williams. The dual-threat quarterback transferred to Southern Cal from Oklahoma for the 2022 season. He followed his head coach Lincoln Riley when the offensive guru opted for better weather and worse defenses.
This seems like a no-brainer. It isn't like defenses in the Big 12 were that dominant to begin with, but the Pac-12 is just two teams going up and down the field. The Trojans have the right man for the job. Last year was proof.
In 2022, Caleb threw for 42 touchdowns and ran for 10 more. He is the favorite to be the No. 1 pick this year. Let's do our best, though, to find some better value on one or two other athletes to be selected first in the 2024 NFL Draft.
We will also touch on the betting odds for the first non-quarterback selected in the Draft.

First Overall Pick in the 2024 NFL Draft
Caleb Williams: -350
Drake Maye: +400
Marvin Harrison Jr: +800
Oluwoyima Fashanu: +2500
Joe Alt: +2500
Kool-Aid McKinstry: +2500
Joe Alt has got to be an old soul. They don't name college football players like they used to. As much as I enjoy writing short and easy names like Joe Alt, it's even more fun to say Kool-Aid McKinstry.
These are a couple of names we are likely to be hearing for quite some time. Will we hear either of their names called before any other college player at the 2024 NFL Draft?
I don't think so, Tim.
Guys, let's focus on the top three players here, starting with Caleb Williams. The line of (-350) is just too darn expensive. Anything could happen this year.
USC has a tough schedule and will likely be playing in the postseason. If the sudden uptick in defensive capabilities gets to him in prime time under the lights, NFL teams could hesitate on selecting him first.
We have yet to speak about the University of North Carolina's Drake Maye. The kid is from right down the road in Charlotte. My old home, the Queen City, has been producing a boatload of blue-chip prospects in college football lately.
The 6'4, 230-pound Drake Maye is somehow the runt of his family. He said that if he wasn't, he may have never pursued the game of football with the vigor he did. That is because his brother Luke was a Tar Heel also, except he did his thing on the hardwood for one of the NCAA's best.
Williams could run away with the No. 1 spot but it's a long season, and I will take the 4-1 payout over a betting line that's almost it's reciprocal.
Pick: Drake May 1st Overall Pick 2024 NFL Draft
First Non-Quarterback Selected in the 2024 NFL Draft
Marvin Harrison Jr: +100
Oluwoyima Fashanu: +375
Joe Alt: +500
Brock Bowers: +1000
Dallas Turner: +1000
Kool-Aod McKinstrey: +1000
Marvin Harrison Jr. That is my selection. If it weren't for teams overvaluing quarterbacks in the NFL Draft, I would have bet Marvin to be selected 1st overall.
I was going to point out that Randy Moss should have been drafted #1, but that was the year the Indianapolis Colts selected Peyton Manning. Where would Peyton be without Marvin Harrison, though?
And where would Marvin Jr be without his father?
That's what you call a flawless loop of logic that ultimately leads us to take the even money on Marvin Jr. There is more to this story. So, don't think I'm only spitballing.
The Cardinals will likely have a very high pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, and they are stuck with Kyler Murray. I like them to trade up or slightly down to select our guy.
Pick: Marvin Harrison Jr to be First Non-QB Selected in the 2024 NFL Draft
In Conclusion
Are we ahead of ourselves? Yes.
Do we care? Of course not.
Did we get to say Kool-Aid McKinstry a few times? That’s already been the highlight of my week!
Seriously, guys. The 2024 NFL Draft is far away, but we're getting excellent value on at least one of our plays. Marvin Harrison Jr to be the first non-QB selected will probably be (-200) or more halfway through the season.
