Take Philadelphia (-140) over Miami (7 p.m., Friday, July 13)

Well, we are heading to the All-Star Break next week. But before we get there I am lining up my biggest play of the year to date: an 8-Unit MLB Game of the Year. I see a situation where everything is coming together and if it does then I am going to be ready to strike. The third time is the charm for Jake Arrieta here. He got bounced by the Marlins the first two times he faced them this year, including his worst effort of the year, giving up six earned runs in just over three innings down in Miami back in April. But Arrieta will be coming off extra rest for the third straight start and he is rounding into form. He was great against the Pirates last weekend and I think he will lead the way here. Wei-Yin Chen has been a gas can for the Marlins. His ERA has ballooned over 6.00 and he has given up seven runs in two of his last four starts. He’s been touched for at least four runs in four of his last eight starts. Miami has, admittedly, been better than I expected them to be this year. But they are still really, really bad. The Marlins are 2-8 at home against teams over .500 and this team looks like it is just limping to the All-Star break. I’ll go with the Phillies here. Kyle Freeland has been the ace of the Colorado staff over the last several weeks. He has given up just seven runs in his last five starts over 32 innings. That is just a 1.98 ERA. Freeland has been outstanding at home in Coors Field this year, going 5-2 with a 2.89 ERA. I think that he is going to have another great outing here and make this one pay out. The Rockies are 5-1 in their last six games and they have gotten themselves back over .500. Colorado is 7-2 at home and I think they are going to be focused in this series. Arizona comes into this series having won eight straight games at Coors Field. Colorado won’t be happy about that losing streak and I think that they are going to be very focused to win this series. Free MLB Baseball Prediction From Allen Eastman:
Take ‘Under’ 8.0 New York Yankees at Cleveland (8 p.m., Thursday, June 29)

This is a matchup of two of the best teams in the American League here. I am expecting this game to be Domingo German for the Yankees and Corey Kluber for the Indians. The Yankees might go with Luis Severino. If that is the case the line on this game will likely be 7.0. I see a low-scoring game either way. German has really been coming on lately. He was sent to the bullpen and then has won back-to-back starts, giving up just one run and four hits in his last time out against Toronto. Kluber is one of the best pitchers in baseball and is having another great season. He has a 2.49 ERA on the season and has posted a quality start in eight of his last 10 starts. The Indians have been a strong ‘over’ play at home this year (24-7 in L31). But I think that the books are going to start posting their totals higher and that Cleveland will be a solid ‘under’ play at home in the second half of the year. Play ‘under’. Take St. Louis Over Cincinnati (4 p.m., Saturday, July 14)

Cincinnati has been playing better as of late but they haven't had much success against St. Louis this season. The Cardinals are 9-1 against the Reds so far this year and I think they will win this matchup as well. Carlos Martinez struggled mightily in his first four starts when he came off the disabled list going 0-2 allowing 15 runs over 16.2 innings. However, he has righted the ship winning his last three starts not allowing more than 2 runs in any start while going at least 6 innings in each. Luis Castillo will toe the rubber for Cincinnati and he hasn't been very good on the road this season or against the Cardinals. Castillo is 2-5 with a 6.71 ERA in 11 starts on the road this year and he is 0-2 against St. Louis allowing 8 earned runs over 11 innings pitched.
