NASCAR betting: TUMS 500 Odds and Predictions
by Christopher G. Shepard - 10/28/2011
Carl Edwards extended his lead to 14 points last week while Matt Kenseth roared into second place and Brad Keselowski, 18-points behind the leader, rounded out the top-three spots in the Chase for the Sprint Cup as NASCAR heads to Ridgeway, VA for the TUMS 500 on Sunday at 1:43 p.m. at historic Martinsville Speedway.
College Football Power Rankings: the Ferringo 15
by Robert Ferringo - 10/26/2011
1. Stanford (7-0) – I suppose I’m the idiot for not having Stanford as the Top Dog in the F-15 all season long. I mean, all they have done is go 19-6-1 ATS in their last 26 games and put together a sensational 12-0-1 ATS rush dating back to last year. Stanford has won and covered in three of four against the Trojans, including last year’s 37-35 home win in which the Trojans took the cash as 10-point dogs. I know this: beating Notre Dame is a lot easier than beating Stanford, so I don’t know if I’m buying into USC against this buzz saw simply based on last week’s performance.
NFL Totals Betting: Week 8 Over and Under Predictions
by David Schwab - 10/26/2011
The back-and-forth nature of the results with the ‘total’ line finally evened themselves out in Week 7 of the NFL season with six of the 13 games going ‘over’ the total and seven staying ‘under’. For the seventh-straight week we have been able to stay ahead of the curve with the correct call on two-of-three of our top plays. This brings our year-to-date record to 14-7.
College Football Predictions: Stanford at USC Odds and Betting Picks
by T.O. Whenham - 10/26/2011
It’s amazing how quickly things can change. Just four years ago when Stanford beat USC, 24-23, with a touchdown in the closing seconds it was a monumental upset. USC was one of the top teams in the country, and no one could remember when Stanford had been even remotely relevant.
BYU at TCU Predictions and College Football Betting Odds
by T.O. Whenham - 10/26/2011
This is technically a neutral site game, but since TCU could almost walk from their campus to Cowboys Stadium they should have the clear crowd edge. BYU will be happy to return to the building, though — in the first college game ever played in the building in 2009 the Cougars shocked No. 3 Oklahoma, 14-13,
NFL Picks: Patriots at Steelers Odds and Betting Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 10/25/2011
The NFL’s game of the week is an absolute no-brainer in Week 8, when New England (5-1) hosts Pittsburgh (5-2) in what could be an AFC Championship Game preview. The result of this game could also be the deciding tiebreaker on whether the Patriots or Steelers would host that game against each other.
College Football Picks: Virginia at Miami Odds and Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 10/25/2011
For the first time in a month we get a game outside of the Pac-12 Conference on the Thursday night ESPN national telecast as unranked ACC Coastal Division foes Virginia and Miami (Fla.) square off in South Florida. While the Hurricanes still aren’t close to what they were at the start of this century, it does appear that the program finally has some positive momentum under first-year Coach Al Golden.
College Football Picks: Mid-Major Game Day Predictions Week 9
by David Schwab - 10/25/2011
While there was a major shakeup in the Top 5 of this week’s BCS rankings with losses by Oklahoma and Wisconsin, a couple of mid-major teams continue to climb the ladder with Boise State moving up one spot to No.4 and Houston moving up two spots to No. 17.
NASCAR Betting: Good Sam 500 Odds and Predictions
by Christopher G. Shepard - 10/21/2011
Jimmie Johnson crashed and Matt Kenseth edged out Kyle Busch for the win last week, but Carl Edwards increased his lead to five-points with five races remaining in the Chase for the Sprint Cup as NASCAR heads down to Talladega, Alabama, on Sunday for the Good Sam 500.
NFL Week 7 Player Props and Betting Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 10/20/2011
In my Week 6 player props story, there weren’t too many immediate results for us to look back on – in other words I tackled a few season-ending totals for NFL players, such as 50-yard field goals for Oakland’s Sebastian Janikowski (he was two-yards shy of adding one in Week 6), sacks for Minnesota’s Jared Allen (he added No. 9.5 against the Bears on Sunday) or total starts for Denver’s Tim Tebow (he makes No. 1 this week at putrid Miami).
College Football Predictions: Auburn at LSU Odds and Betting Picks
by T.O. Whenham - 10/19/2011
It’s the battle of the Tigers, and the stakes are very high in this SEC matchup. Last year’s National Champions will be looking to derail the team that is the favorite to win it all this year. This is a very different preview than it would have been if I had written it just a few hours ago. Word has come down that LSU has suspended three players for this game, including Heisman candidate and stud cornerback Tyrann Mathieu.
College Football Power Rankings: the Ferringo 15
by Robert Ferringo - 10/19/2011
1. Wisconsin (5-0-1) –The wave has already started to go the other way against the Badgers. They are facing inflated odds this week against Michigan State and a lot of sharks are circling that game. There is a heavy reverse line movement on this game and the number has taken a big dip. But Wisconsin is still 8-0 ATS against the Big Ten and they are 15-5-1 ATS over their last 21 games. However, they are just 3-7 ATS as a conference road favorite of over a touchdown. I may not be playing on Russ Wilson and the Badgers this weekend, but I sure as hell am not going to be betting against them.
NFL Totals Betting: Week 7 Over and Under Predictions
by David Schwab - 10/19/2011
Defense stepped up to the plate last week in the NFL as 10 of the 13 games stayed ‘under’ the total. This was in sharp contrast to the previous week when nine of the 13 games went ‘over’ the total. Fortunately, we have been able to stay ahead of the curve all season long as for the sixth-straight week we were correct on two-of-three of our top predictions for NFL totals betting, bringing our year-to-date record to 12-6.
NFL Picks: Bears vs. Buccaneers Odds and Betting Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 10/18/2011
One could argue that the Chicago Bears have an unfair advantage over the other 31 NFL teams and that the Tampa Bay Bucs are at a disadvantage compared to the rest of the league. Why? This Sunday’s game between the Bears and Bucs is the NFL’s annual matchup in London, and I can guarantee you that the crowd will be pro-Bears because they are simply a more recognizable name across the pond and their fans certainly travel much better than those of the Bucs.
College Football Picks: Mid-Major Game Day Predictions Week 8
by David Schwab - 10/17/2011
The first BCS rankings were released this past Sunday and while LSU, Alabama, and Oklahoma dominate all the talk at the top of the list, the mid-major conferences have two representatives with Boise State at No.5 and Houston at No. 19. When it comes to college football handicapping matchups in the mid-major conferences, there is always value to be found, as these games tend to be less influenced by the betting public than the heavily publicized contests in the major conferences.
NASCAR Betting: Bank of America 500 Odds and Predictions
by Christopher G. Shepard - 10/14/2011
Stock car investors should keep in mind that Johnson leads all active drivers with six wins at CMS, yet he hasn’t won at Charlotte since 2009 when he won from the pole. And that’s the last time a pole-sitter has won this race. There have been eight season sweeps at Charlotte; including every season from 2004-07.
College Football Power Rankings: the Ferringo 15
by Robert Ferringo - 10/12/2011
The Ferringo 15 College Football Power Rankings is my own unique twist on the obsessive ranking systems that have dominated the sport for nearly a century. The Ferringo 15 is my Profit-Power Rankings; a rating of the 15 teams that I think hold the most value in college football betting at the moment and it is a reflection of past, present, and projected future achievement against the spread in college football betting.
Hawaii at San Jose State Predictions and College Football Odds
by T.O. Whenham - 10/12/2011
ESPN must be less than thrilled with this game. After a few good games in a row on Friday nights they have one that, on the surface at least, isn’t the most compelling pairing ever. These two teams are a long way from relevant nationally, and at least one won’t be a big factor in their own conference.
NFL Picks: Cowboys at Patriots Predictions and Betting Odds
by Alan Matthews - 10/11/2011
For the second week in a row, the New England Patriots are in the NFL spotlight with the marquee game, with the Pats hosting the Dallas Cowboys in the Fox Game of the Week. I’d like to call it a potential Super Bowl preview, but it’s doubtful the Cowboys hold up their end of the bargain since they never really do.
College Football Predictions: USC at Cal Odds and Picks
by Alan Matthews - 10/11/2011
It’s not the best Thursday night ESPN matchup of the season this week when two teams who may not even go bowling, USC and California, meet in a Pac-12 game. This one is at AT&T Park in San Francisco, home of the Giants (Cal’s stadium is undergoing renovations).
