NFL Picks: Chargers at Bears Odds and Betting Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 11/16/2011
Could Sunday’s game in the Windy City be the beginning of the end for Chargers coach Norv Turner? Remember that in a Bodog props story a few weeks ago I recommended you take Turner not to be the Bolts’ coach at the start of next season, and a loss Sunday would be San Diego’s fifth in a row and drop the Bolts to 4-6 and grease the skids for Turner’s dismissal after the season.
Nebraska at Michigan Predictions and College Football Odds for Betting
by T.O. Whenham - 11/16/2011
It has been strange all year watching Nebraska play in the Big Ten. The strangest moment of all will come this week, though, when the Huskers visit the most iconic building in the conference, and perhaps in the country.
College Football Predictions: Oklahoma State at Iowa State Betting Odds
by T.O. Whenham - 11/16/2011
Thanks to the big missteps by Stanford and Boise State last week the Oklahoma State Cowboys are suddenly in the driver’s seat for a berth in the BCS Championship Game. Simply put, if they win out they are in. The first step in that challenging process — this trip to Iowa State for a Friday night showdown — is definitely not the most difficult.
NFL Totals Betting: Week 11 Over and Under Predictions
by David Schwab - 11/16/2011
Does three weeks make a trend? If so, than the ‘under’ remains the solid play after 28 of the last 43 NFL games have stayed ‘under’ the total, including 10 of the 16 games last week. Speaking of trends, for the 10th-straight week we came out on the plus side of our top plays on the total line; cashing in on two of three picks. This raised our year-to-date record to 20-10.
College Football Power Rankings: the Ferringo 15
by Robert Ferringo - 11/16/2011
1. Stanford (9-1) –“He’s cut! The Russian’s cut!” The invincible Stanford money machine suffered its first setback in more than a year’s worth of games (14-1-1 ATS rush), and the question now is how do they bounce back? They are in a letdown spot this week against one of their fiercest rivals, Cal. But I can’t say that the current line (around 18.0) would scare me off the Cardinal.
College Football Picks: North Carolina at Virginia Tech Odds and Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 11/15/2011
No. 9 Virginia Tech was good to us last week in beating Georgia Tech on ESPN’s Thursday night college football telecast, easily covering the one point it was giving. Now the Hokies (9-1, 5-1 ACC) seem a near lock to win the ACC’s Coastal Division yet again.
College Football Picks: Mid-Major Game Day Predictions Week 12
by David Schwab - 11/15/2011
With just a few weeks to go in the college football regular season, teams such as LSU and Oklahoma State are trying stay on the path towards a National Championship, while the majority of the better teams in the mid-majors are simply trying secure a spot in a more prestigious bowl game.
Oregon at Stanford Predictions and College Football Betting Odds
by T.O. Whenham - 11/10/2011
The first ever Pac-12 Championship Game will be played on Dec. 2 in the stadium of the highest ranked team. That is technically when the BCS representative for the conference will be chosen. In reality, though, it is very likely that the champion of this conference will essentially be chosen on Saturday night in Palo Alto.
College Football Predictions: South Florida at Syracuse Betting Odds and Picks
by T.O. Whenham - 11/10/2011
Sometimes the Friday night game is a compelling one — not the highest-profile game, but an interesting one between good teams playing well. This is definitely not one of those times. These are the two worst teams in the Big East right now, and that conference isn’t exactly a murderer’s row.
NFL Week 10 Player Props and Betting Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 11/10/2011
I looked at three Week 9-specific props last week in my Bodog NFL props column and had success and two of the three – while also getting closer to winning one prop that probably won’t be decided until the end of the season.
NASCAR Betting: Kobalt Tools 500 Odds and Predictions
by Christopher G. Shepard - 11/10/2011
Despite winning the AAA 500 last week, his fourth win in the Chase for the Sprint Cup, Tony Stewart is still three points behind Carl Edwards, who has yet to win a Chase race this season, as NASCAR heads to Phoenix International Raceway on Sunday Nov.13, at 3:15 p.m. (EST) for the penultimate race of the Sprint Cup season, the Kobalt Tools 500.
NFL Totals Betting: Week 10 Over and Under Predictions
by David Schwab - 11/10/2011
For the second week in a row points were a bit hard to come by as nine of the 14 games in Week 9 of the NFL regular season stayed ‘under’ the total. For the ninth straight week we came out on the plus side of our top plays; cashing in on two of three picks. This raised our year-to-date record to 18-9.
College Football Power Rankings: the Ferringo 15
by Robert Ferringo - 11/10/2011
The Ferringo 15 has been exceptional over the past four years at pinpointing undervalued teams according to their college football odds. If you were to have bet every team in the Ferringo 15 the week that they appear in my college football power rankings then you would have hit over 58 percent of your wagers for a four-year period.
Giants at 49ers Predictions and NFL Betting Odds
by Alan Matthews - 11/9/2011
It’s a bit of a weird Week 10 in the NFL this Sunday as it seems like every game either has playoff implications or is a total dog (Rams-Browns, Redskins-Dolphins, Jags-Colts anyone)? With that said, it was tough not picking the likes of Lions-Bears, Steelers-Bengals or Patriots-Jets this week. But I’m going with Giants-49ers because it is quite possible the winner of this one between division leaders will be the No. 2 seed in the NFC playoffs.
NASCAR Betting: AAA 500 Odds and Predictions
by Christopher G. Shepard - 11/4/2011
Where there’s ‘Smoke’ there is fire. And no Chase driver is hotter than Tony Stewart, who won last weekend’s race for his third win in seven Chase races. He has now moved within eight points of first place with three races remaining as NASCAR heads down to Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday, Nov. 6 for the AAA 500.
NFL Week 9 Player Props and Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 11/4/2011
First off, the only Week 8-specific prop I looked at was on Dallas rookie running back DeMarco Murray, coming off a franchise-record 253 yards rushing, and his yardage total and yards per carry average last week against the Philadelphia Eagles. Murray’s ‘over/under’ yards was 85.5 and yards-per-carry was 5.0 against Philly. I said take the ‘under’ on both.
NFL Picks: Packers at Chargers Odds and Betting Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 11/2/2011
Not too long ago, this game between Green Bay and San Diego on Sunday looked like a potential Super Bowl preview. Well, Green Bay, the NFL’s only unbeaten team, has certainly kept up its part of the bargain. But the Bolts have dropped two straight to raise questions against about Norv Turner’s job status in San Diego (again).
College Football Predictions: LSU at Alabama Odds and Betting Picks
by T.O. Whenham - 11/2/2011
I don’t know if you have heard, but No. 1-ranked LSU and No. 2-ranked Alabama play on Saturday night. Unless you have been living in a cave or under a rock you’ve been hearing about this game for weeks, and the constant hum is rapidly turning into an avalanche of hype as the game nears.
NFL Totals Betting: Week 9 Over and Under Predictions
by David Schwab - 11/2/2011
Defense was back in vogue in Week 8 of the NFL regular season with nine of the 13 games staying ‘under’ the total. Our current winning streak remained intact as for the eighth week in a row we had the winning play in two of our top three picks, bringing our year-to-date record up to 16-8.
College Football Power Rankings: the Ferringo 15
by Robert Ferringo - 11/2/2011
If you had USC last week I have two things to say to you. First, that was an all-time bad beat. It is never fun to lose a game in college OT, but that one had to be heartbreaking. Second, why the hell are you betting against Stanford?!?!?! That is now a tasty 20-6-1 ATS mark in their last 27 games and a 13-0-1 ATS rush dating back to last year. They will need to avoid the letdown (from USC) and look ahead (to Oregon) spots this weekend. But as good of a spot as this is for Oregon State, how do you bet against the Cardinal this week? Or as long as Andrew Luck is under center?
